On a somewhat larger scale - it can also be seen in Las Vegas during a performance of "Ka". NIR cameras and lighting are used to dynamically generate effects which are projected onto the stage (i.e. in "the climb", the stage is vertical and an acrobat climbs up it - projected "rocks" fall when the actor's feet hit the stage.
My experience was setting 340 hours of tv shows to compress while I went on vacation for 2 weeks. Reboot 8 hours into the damn process. Took over a week 24/7 to finish compression. Thanks Microsoft!
Telus, in Canada, had the same goddamn announcements, but you couldn't bypass them (or any messages) on their voicemail. Every message had the "press 7 to delete, press 9 to save" thing following it. Incredibly annoying
ATI all in wonder cards have been pieces of shit for years. The latest few aren't so bad, but that's probably because ATI drivers don't suck as much any more.
The credit card companies generally don't mind all that much as long as the offending company is still around. Chargebacks result in punitive fees against the offending companies, freezing of accounts, etc. The loser in a chargeback is almost always the marchant.
Then you need to get a decent data plan, which is usually more of a pain in the ass than SMS is. I've had Sprint start billing me per kb even though I had unlimited several times (seems that the unlimited feature was "accidentally" turned off by their systems. Called in, spent an hour with the mental defective on the phone and got it resolved, but goddamn, what a hassle...
I should of have clarified that - all the contract plans suck. People using pay as you go can switch pretty much any time, which tends to keep the amount of BS down. People on contracts are abused by the cell phone providers because they know their "loyal customers" won't switch because of the ETF.
New policy between all the carriers in the USA. Basically one company started charging and the rest followed their lead. Now you get charged for spam messages. CURVA!
If it's worth your time, try going through the BBB. Sprint CSRs are infuriatingly incompetent if you go through regular channels - apparantly unable to do simple math, etc. I swear they train their CSRs to act stupid just to get people off the phone. If you take a look at their BBB record though, you'll be shocked.
It's not overcharging, it's gouging. I have to say, it was really nice watching all the cell phone companies start charging for inbound sms messages last year. First Sprint (always the worst fuckers of the lot) and then it dominoed down from there. Yay, now we get to pay for incoming spam messages we didn't request and can't turn off!
That's the USA for you. SMS prices are stupidly expensive here if you don't have one of the flat rate plans. There isn't a single cell phone company despised by most of their customers, but ETF fees and the fact that they all suck is why they keep their customers. Given the fact that a SMS puts far less load on the cell network than a phone call, the rates for SMS are completely bullshit. Oh, and now we all get to pay for spam SMS messages since the carriers decided to all implement their new policy of charging for inbound shit you don't want and can't turn off. Cool eh?
Good job comparing a city to the parking department of a university or college whose entire budget is based on income derived from parking tickets, meets "about" every 6 months, tends to lose appeals, pays their meter maids commission and is run by tenured profs and lifetime students. You're spot on... Corruption in a university setting could never happen.
The problem is that there is an endless stream of these fucking retards. Hitting mute once isn't a big deal, hitting it every minute or two gets to be really, really fucking annoying.
Creative is well known for its "we don't fucking care" attitude when it comes to drivers for new operating systems. Besides, it's not like they have a stable driver for Vista for any hardware right now.
The HP escalation team is excellent for the most parts - apparently the laptop policies suck - but I've gotten bumped up to a much nicer camera (new, retail box) because 2 replacements arrived DOA and I complained.
And no, children, it isn't an assistant, it's (part of?) another call center that pretends they are the executive assistants - in HP's case, the calls are probably handled by someone who works in Eastern Canada (which is sort of the other side of the continent from where HP's CEO lives). If you want to get to HP's escalation team, call the number on their website, ask to speak with the CEO, you'll get bounced to the escalation folks.
The gungame mod for CS is pretty interesting - if the spawn points aren't randomized - it doesn't usually degrade into the repetitive bullshit that is deathmatch (except for the odd times the other team sneaks into your spawn point, but with more or less instant respawn, the home team always has the advantage)
Not too many servers have it running, but it's a really nice balance between the two. Forcing people to get X kills with each weapon before moving up also makes it interesting and it's a great way of forcing people to get some skill with all the weapons, not just AWP+deagle or M4/AK;)
What the heck do you need 5" conduit for?

Problem solved.
People sort of look at you funny when opening stuff though...

That's shocked... in a good way... Generally BBB complaints are handled fairly well.

Don't forget phone calls require QoS well over and above what a SMS message needs.
Nobody really cares if a SMS is delayed 45 seconds or whatever...
Maybe because Treos sort of cost $600?

Because they all suck equally and there really isn't an alternative.
And the assholes who run the companies use that to their advantage.

You two seem a bit bitter...
Right, just like you can appeal fraudulent parking tickets.
Are you fucking retarded?
Now, if you have a guy going around unplugging peoples network cables at the switch because they pissed him, fire that guy and hire a professional
;)
Exactly, the correct thing to do is to toss the asshole onto a separate vlan.
Unplugging network cables is so '90s
