    Lot of Oracle products rely on Java (data mining/business analyst stuff), so it's not very likely. They just like too much governing over JSR/JCP.

    GP has a point. We have no tools to search for life (outside of the solar system), we can only search for certain materials (e.g. water, carbon) and certain temperature ranges.

    You can bet they use shitload of cracked software in Asian and Eastern European markets, no matter what device (PC/game console/smartphone). I don't think that in these places iOS is competitive with it's walled garden philosophy (i.e. they still want warranty).

    In my country (Hungary) you can do everything offline, but it will make your life much harder (dealing with lots of burocracy IRL). Also, it's harder to find a job without an e-mail address.

    I have relatives in rural Hungary (North-Eastern, impoverished part). They have cable TV/internet at around $20/month (5 Mbit/s).

    Libraries all have internet. Although as a tourist it might not be as cost/time efficient as an internet caffee (considering cost and time of registration).

    Well, I always find at least one good game there. Although passed on the Voxatron bundle. And I haven't got into Darwinia yet, but Defcon is decent.
