same goes for Georgia, we tried in southern Georgia to get solar panels but city ordinance, zoning commission inspection fees and licensing, state red tape and you have to notify the grid and since the city controls utilities here, we dont have a normal power company our power bill is issued by the city on the bill has power, water, cable, garbage all on one bill. They wont allow them to be fed back into their grid here. So far they refuse to allow it, but you can set them up and run them side by side so use the solar power for some things but it can't connect back to the grid in any form or fashion, therefore it doesn't really negate anything. Since city can just raise rates if you ever do get the ability to get them installed.
they raise rates on houses individually here, based on how many people live in the home and ages, etc.
They are looking only at numbers of the "integrated" systems... Acer, Dell, Compaq.. yes those sales are down cause they sell shit. Heck even in the 90's you were picked on for owning such a integrated system, Packard Bell was the biggest pile of crap pushing out non upgradable systems left and right.
So for brand name pc's sales are down, but it's because PC users have gotten smart, we build are own.
and if you look at those numbers, people who buy motherboards, cpu, ram, hard drives, cases you will notice the numbers have never went down.
Cyberpower PC states their sales have been the highest ever in 2012 and are on target to breaking last year's records in 2013.
Newegg's blog stated their CPU and barebone sales have been up the lasts 3 years as more and more pc users put their own systems together and know what they want.
rather than some Dell, Acer, Compaq throwing together crap parts, pc users pick and choose their parts and build themself. Or they pay someone to build the pc for them like Cyberpower where you pick the parts and they put it together for you with or without an operating system.
In those cases PC sales are actually up higher than ever. It's just people have moved from an integrated PC platform and PC users now "roll their own" and sales are higher than integrated pc makers.
If Dell, Compaq, Acer went out of business it wouldn't harm PC users one bit, we still buy our parts and put them together ourselves.
hell my "frankenstein" gaming pc is an Intel Core I-7 cpu, 16 gigs of kingston ram, a Kingston 120gig SSD system drive, a Western digital black 1tb data drive, an asus motherboard, Nvidia graphics card, etc etc
all different brands and parts i bought seperately and I buy new pc's every couple years.
PC sales are not down, go read the blogs of companies that sell these parts and barebone systems. Sales are only down for the shit systems that corporate buys in bulk like Dell/Acer/Compaq
This is a large reason why Amateur radio operators exist, they could have simply contacted the ARRL and several of the local clubs would have activated to provide emergency radio communication.
I know our town has had several training drills with us local hams, with the 911 system, We have setup a backup amateur radio station at the 911 office in case of major problems the hams show up and control the station from the 911 center acting as the nerve center. Then other hams in the club get stationed around at locations needed/required by local agencies and provide communication until problems are resolved.
This wouldn't have been a problem at all if they would have used the system that has been in place for decades the Amateur radio community, who are mandated to provide emergency radio communication.
the idiots didn't even try... or they wouldn't have had a problem this large. Their system would have went down, but the Hams repeaters, aprs, and others work just fine and even better anyhow.
My first favorite well after using Gopher, Archie, and such
but when web got popular
was Webcrawler and Lycos I occasionally used AltaVista
but Webcrawler was the fastest simplest design... I swear google stole the minimalist design from Webcrawler...All Webcrawler had was a logo and the search bar that was it, no news, no ads, nothing.
Wonder when they are going to try and tax Linden dollar transfers
I sell quite a bit of scripts in Second Life which sells in Linden dollars then you can transfer that money to US Dollars via paypal at around 260ish lindens per 1 us dollar.
people like Anshe Chung was the first to make over 1 million us dollars in second life selling real estate and clothing
we don't need another scene of him appearing outside a bar naked in his 60's
what's next?
he time travels just outside a nursing home, naked, he walks in, eyes up a grampa in flannel robe and a walker and kills the man taking his walker and flannel robe
yea I have a propane fridge and freezer, I pulled it out of an old RV at a junk yard for free:)
but it works, and I keep it for emergency purposes. Few years ago my town was without power for 5 days after a Hurricane came through southern Ga. So I connected the freezer/fridge duo to a propane tank and was able to keep most my food from spoiling.
yea Second Life is about the closest to a 3d mush there is, open sandbox user scriptable, objects can be created in world by 'players'
I write scripts for second life, it's actually a pretty decent side income and meet a lot of cool people, course I mainly use it for writing scripts and challenging myself and I do enjoy the live concerts, I could care less for everything else.
There was a sweet Transformers Mush and a Star Wars Mush I played occasionally I think it was called transformers2025 or something like that. It's been so long.
I also remember the days when Powwow chat was popular and it was so awesome you could see the other person type in real time:)
course prior to that using gopher pre-web.
I sometimes miss the old internet, no ads, and truly the "wild wild west"
my opinion similar situation to ronpaul.com, it was registered long before he retired and wanted his domain. He lost when he tried to take the legit established route to acquire the domain.
Microsoft should also lose this case.
But it won't Microsoft will of course win cause Corporations rule the world
Yea it officially hit "Angry Video Game Nerd" many of his nintendo videos the ad revenue is no longer going to him they are now funneled to nintendo.
sucks, course I run with adblock on 24/7 so whatever
time for people to get original and stop trying to make money off "lets play" and "angry reviewer schtick" that sites like TGWTG copied off AVGN and such.
spam content is not worth it and ultimately I wouldn't miss it at all...
I have a vast library of actual books I enjoy not counting ebooks but 3 walls 15 feet high on each of books
so I'm always enjoying truly spam free entertainment.
if a site has to rely on spam to stay afloat, then it deserves to go offline. When we started websites in the 90's we did it to enjoy it for what it was, to put our own content out there cause we wanted to share and enjoy the creation of it and the coding even if our html skills sucked (see geocities, tripod, aol, etc)
but nowdays people don't really care about content, it's all about a set formula for vids all the lets play vids all follow same exact formula of "rage for while, crack jokes for while, rage a while, laugh a while, etc) or all the hundreds of "science" channels popped up to show "9v battery hacks, etc" all have 1 thing in common... spam.
there is no real content anymore, it's all copycat content for the sole purpose of monetize it and spam it out there to get hits and make money, it's no longer about what you enjoy it's about spam.
when the internet content became more about spam and less about content that's when I turned to piracy, and adblocking 100%
The video is still hosted at the alternative sites and the larger more popular sites
http://theync.com/
http://www.documentingreality.com/forum/
http://www.ogrishforum.com/
and others,
they all still have the video up as well as fresh meat daily :P

That is why the Mush was invented PernMush was awesome.
more freedom, and allowed players to add their own scripted content items.
I created a "drone" in mush script that would go to the areas ahead of me to scout for danger before I would enter the area.
And pc games are backwards compatible all the way back :)
I can still play Chuck Yeager's Flight Simulator for Tandy 1000 EX 256K ram dos 3.0 game on my modern gaming pc with dosbox
or I can copy Dos 6 to a usb flash drive and boot to real dos and play it
pc > console :)
haha!
I never could figure what was up with that guy, his posts started off halfway making sense then turned into the schizophrenic rambling of a mad man
all over a freaking hosts file
Where's the HOSTS file guy to post his 10 pages of spam on hosts file
and blame a bad hosts file for the reason eve is offline
har har
Karl Pilkington...
I just want to see him regenerate then look into the mirror and say "Oh my god, I'm hideous, I have a head like a fucking Orange"
Then Ricky Gervais appears as The Master.
30hz should be enough for anybody...
I think it will require the new DirectX 12 from Windows 9.0 so you may want to wait :)
Windows ME 2.0 relabeled as Win 8 isn't powerful enough to play baseball yet.
the poor boy only has 1 testicle... what do you expect
of course he only lasts 'half' as long now.
