If I used political definitions I would say conservative was minimal (less government) and liberal maximast.

Of course using those definitions there are very few conservatives in US politics and conservatism is a tendancy that is in the minority but spans both parties.

The whole point though is that everybody gets something. If I make lots of money it is benificial for me to drop out, but it leaves the system more defunct, not nuetral.

What they need to do in my mind is eleminate the maximum payment (currently on only the first 90,000 USD).

Then the age needs to be increased (when Social Security was started the age was higher then average life expectancy).

The age should be high (like 68-72), but if you can domonstrate an inability to work you can get it earlier.

Whatever is left-over after those changes needs to be picked up in increased tax.

The other option is for society as a whole to decide that if you did not make enough money to support yourself or were irrisponsible then you don't deserve even a minimum amount of income.

I am reading a book about government written just after the first bush's election to president, nearly 2 decades ago, and it's all the same people. The big names are the same now as then. Not only were these people in office then, they were big enough names (Kerry, Gephart) to be focused on.

    PS.
The book is Parliment of Whores by P. J. O'Rorke and I ighly recomend it. Nothing new, we know government is worthless, but it sure is fun to read about examples presented humorously.

The search appliance is innovative. If the algorithm was public domain as soon as it is reverse engeneered they may not release a device that contains it. The protection of the patent encourages them to release the device and we get it (the algorithm) in the public domain when it expires, we win twice.

15 years is still probably way too long for the patent though, but time will tell. If in 15 years the algorithm is not outdated and obsolete it is probably a fair shake.

I was at the mall and in the general area of my car gravitated to a maroon SL2, unlocked the door started to get in and noticed it was far too clean and had seat covers. I quickly got out and nervously tried to relock the door, but my key did not spin so I left. I didn't want to get into trouble for an honest mistake.

One time I also locked my keys in the car at a gas station. The attendand was unable to slim jim the door but went back into the shop and got a small saw zaw blade (or maybe a blade for a scrolling saw) with fairly big teeth. It was a little taller then a key but the teeth were about the right size. The attendant then stuck this into the key whole and jiggled for a about 30 seconds while turning and I was in. It took a few minutes to get the blade out though due to the fact that the teether were only slanted on one side.

Of course getting into cars ain't all that tricky anyway (big windows) and I can't speak for the ignitions.

I think general computer idiocy along with first time purchasers will keep the market going as long as marketing can keep things as a new revolution.
