Are we to assume that early this century the people making movies were to assume unlimeted terms would be tacked onto their work?
The grandchildren of a creator are certainly not motivated by money they make from someone else's creation. And pantents should not last long past they are obsolete.
What is the danger of crashing a plane from a laser underneath it?
Wouldn't it require hitting the pilot and the co-pilot in the eye while simulteaneously something goes wrong on the plane that the on board computer can't fix?
Pilots don't do particularly much now adays from what I understand.
Apple did studies on using the mouse vs using keyboard shortcuts.
They found that the keyboard was no quicker (I don't personally think the test was designed propperly, but it is part of the reason there were lame arrow keys and no number poads on Apples).
Anyway all of the people involved thought the keyboard was quicker and they decided it was because using the keyboard required a different level of thought and the mind forgot those slices of time it was using the keyboard.
Perhaps talking to your computer helps your mind lose slices of time and feel like things are faster.
The grossest example of undercompensation I know of was the accuvue case. They sold daily and 2 week contacts at a price difference of 7 times (more even) and they were the exact same thing.
I paid approx 150.00 for 26 pairs of bi weekly. One month of daily (30 pairs) was 25.00.
My take? 8 dollors
Unscrupulous lawyers can also take large cuts for their costs though, could easily top a million or two, if it is a medium sized case that is another few percent anyway.
So an omission CNN entry is a reason the Fox News entry is "really wrong"?
Many people believe Fox News is biased. I cannot speak for the news parts but the psudo-news parts are definatly biased (unabashedly so even). On the daily show one of their people openly described it as such. John Stewert compared them to Al Jazeera and the guest basically described all of Al Jazeera's bias as being "un-American" and therefore there pposite bas was "American" and therefore not only acceptable but (implied never said) better then non biased news for a patriotic American.
No one at CNN brags about their biased and maybe that is the difference?
My experience as a child tell me that the children of those parents are the ones that we DON'T want to have the game. I had friends with parents like that, and it was fun to hang out with them, it was fun to play their games, they suffered to varying degrees from this upbringing, and the games didn't help.
I am not saying they were killers or criminals because of it, but if nothing else it gave a focal point for violent fantasies and general violent behavior (mostly verbal bullying types stuff). The "coolness" factor of GTA leads to petty crime and vandalism, again not directly and it is mostly a failure of the parents/chemical imbalance in the child, but glorification of criminal activity in the media is certainly a cantributing factor.
I actually think that wrestling (which in games is generaly T) is worse then Mortal Kombat because it is portrayed as real, and noone is getting hurt, but again it is the household that the parents are nowhere to be found, incapable of buying a game for 2 mmonths that I want to have violent games the least.
I can say that violent and gory games did not harm me in any way, and I think that most people in their teens are capable of playing them with no effect at all, but i can't say for sure, the first gory/violent game I had was Doom and I would say it is a far cry from GTA III.
Well we dared to do it over the steele industry (at the detriment of every other industry in our country that uses steele). And this has no negatives to them like that so I would imagine so.
You mean letting the people be the ultimate deciders ?
If both sides of a case feel that a jury is not needed they don't use one, but in the USA we decided that a judge does not have the power to decide a case where there is any disputed facts. This way a rebel judge cannot silence someone unchecked.
If there are no disputed facts (guilty plea or the plaintif after presenting their case has noted nothing that would count for the applicable law, or noone tells a different accounting of events) or both parties agree to allow a judge to act as a finder of facts (one of our largest anti-trust cases ever for example) then a judge can make a desicion (either summery judgement, dismiss a case, find the facts ect.)
How is a system that garentees the right to have a consensus of independant people be deamed inferior to one that lets an employee of the state make the choice?
IANAL but I have sat in on around a dozen cases (all civil) of variing sizes to be decied by jury or judge, and this is how I understand it to work.
I always have the opposite in Linux (CTR click to focus). That way I can keep stuff in the back while web browsing and still not need to type anything.
Most of those little things are are not at all unique to OSX over Linux. In fact with the exception of the stuff moving around in melting and fading style effects, and the not white on hung apps none of it is.
Of coure I like to know when my apps are hung hard (eww).

How does that justify extensions of copyright?

I don't know about normal conditions, but in reduced visability the pilots absolutly DO NOT land the plane.
Of course in a sesna the situation is a little different then a commercial airliner.

Could it have to do with removing Java?
This is not a troll, that disclaimer sounds an awful lot like the Java one that was required.
Yeah, but I bet the average /. reader visits plenty of p0rn, not particularly safe with IE.

Only Coby for me.

The XCOM game using Quake II (I think) is pretty memmorable, though not yet past alpha.
Yeah, because it is a total shocker that Carmack was releasing the source?
The customer should haave seen it coming.

Yeah and these are even older.
Doe snot render in FireFox and is missing a few images now though.
But I am pretty sure these predate the article.
Yeah, I was looking at Boston Specifically though

I have read there would be about 10 hours notice for the US.
And it will go 20 Kilometers inland.
couldn't that be handled on foot fairly reasonably?
Because it is easier to make a very small chip fast then it is to make all the other stuff that is spread out.
Something about the speed of electricity not being infinate or something.
Were there ever any NES games that used the dance pad side of the Power Pad?
I would actually say it's higher stakes not safer.
With government they will use it for good with a lot of waste, or use it to rape you up the ass with a lot of waste.
With Big Corps they will do either with efficiancy.
If I am to be raped up the ass I want it minimized as much as possible with inneficiany.

yeha, I thought the same thing, but remember that modern gamers play return to caslte wolfenstein and battle field 1942.
I saw no swastika's in either.
Yet there are some on the public library where I live (pre-nazi design, good luck charm).

Actually as I understand the terms Free Software is a subset of Open Source software.
The definition is more restrictive, but in a way that keeps the code itself free for everybody.
AMD can declare whatever they want.
I can even declare dominance in the gaming and server markets.
In fact:
I have declared dominance in the gaming and server microprocessor market in 2004.
AMD and Intel better respond fast.
