    I like emusic.com myself - as long as you remember to download your 30 songs every month it's a pretty good deal, and they have a lot of stuff. Great way to discover new stuff too. I dunno if it's available in Canada though; I live in LA. (Where is Canada anyway - is that in the Valley?)

    I thought you were serious until the bit about the IRA in 1986. Windows 3.0 was introduced in 1990. I think Windows 1.0 existed in 1986 but who would go through the trouble to pirate that? It wasn't until Windows 95 that operating systems really had any currency as a commodity (thanks to a ludicrous advertising campaign that changed the computer industry forever); the idea of someone hawking Windows 1.0 alongside illegal VHS tapes is pretty bizarre, to say the least.

    Back in the 80s the US even ignored a ruling from the World Court to cease it's terrorist activities in Nicaragua The Supreme Court just ruled that U.S. states can now pretty much ignore international law at will. It's not clear to me how this affects the federal obligation to obey treaties (which is pretty clear in the Constitution), but at the state level, we'll be seeing a lot more of this sort of thing.

    It's when you take your items OUT of the fridge that moisture condenses onto them, since they are colder than the air they are in. So, really, no condensation worries, as long as he doesn't take the laptop out of a cold fridge. Exactly. You can put your laptop in the fridge without any worries at all, as long as you never take it out.

    According to this article the links were fake. So all you need is a link that says child porn here and people who click the link will go directly to jail. Or, at least, get their homes raided. Even if the link really didn't feature photos of exploitation of children. Nah, no way this rule could be abused.

    I never said the journal was "immune from bias." I don't even know that I would value that. All I said was that it was peer reviewed by credentialed experts who respect and follow the scientific method. Do you dispute that?

    Indeed. This is not a scientific study, it's a bunch of marketers trying to "prove" that what they do matters. Journal of Consumer Research? Surely no conflict of interest there. In other news, a study backed by McDonald's proves that their food is actually good for you! Film at 11. The Journal of Consumer Research is a peer-reviewed academic journal put out by the University of Chicago Press. Some people can claim that it isn't "real science" or whatever, but the researchers certainly follow the scientific method and this study, like others published in the journal, has survived a peer review process overseen by its credentialed editorial staff.
