  1. Tablet PC's on Professor Bans Laptops from the Classroom · · Score: 1

Does she plan on making exceptions for tablet pc's? I know a few people (myself included) who take written notes on a tablet pc instead of paper and pen in class. It's no different then writing on paper so the percieved threat to eye contact should not apply. Later when I can search my notes for specific things it makes studying 10 times easier, I would hate for teachers like this to take that ability away.

  2. Epic party foul on New Star Wars TV Series Confirmed · · Score: 1

Why don't they realize no one wants to see the hero of an epic grow up? Most good epics start with the hero grown and only elude to events surrounding their birth or youth, it's practically a rule. It would be so much better to make the series continue with the story following episode 6. Everyone and their dog has been begging for that storyline. Is there something I'm missing, is no one allowed to make tv or movies that cover the later years where Luke is a badass? What gives?

  3. Re:Uhmmm.... on Designer Mice Made to Order · · Score: 1

No, acutally you shouldn't have as much right. In fact, over the last 100 years we have (in the US at least) developed things like the FDA/IACUC (for animals) and IRB (for humans) to prevent someone from doing what you suggest.

I resent the crude dice roll comments you make in reguards to MMORPG's. Only someone who has never had to organize and stratagize a team of 40 players to take down all the boses of molten core over a 2 - 3 day period can say that it's all just random dice rolls. Heck, even an Onyxia fight which might last about 2 hours if we wipe a few times takes massive coordinationa and strategy. The roll of the dice is about as important in these situations as luck is in planetside for the chance of you go left when you should go right.

  10. Similar Experience on Blizzard Made Me Change My Name · · Score: 0

The same thing happened to my guildmate about a month after game launch. He got banned for no reason and came to find out that his name had been reported as offensive. It was Kidkyler. Someone has decided this must mean he is a "kid killer", but of course nevermind trying to talk to him, just report him. The actual name comes from the name of his kid, which is Kyler. Well after a few weeks of trying to get anyone at blizzard to listen, going as far as sending in a copy of his kids birth certificate, he gave up and accepted the name change. This case seems even more extreme to me because there was no real rule violation, only a percieved one which was held even after being proven false. I quit wow for a multitude of reasons, (mainly MC raids were taking up way too much of my life), but it sure didn't help that the GM's were spending time banning people for nothing. Then everytime I've had a real problem and submitted a ticket or asked for help I get no response whatsoever.

  11. Ram latencies? on Which CPU Is Tops in Price/Performance? · · Score: 0

Is it at all suspect that they were using ram with quite a bit better CAS values in the AMD setup?

    AMD:

    Intel:
    2 x 512MB Corsair XMS2 Pro (CAS 3-3-3-8)

Personally I only have AMD systems at home so I'm not sure what the limitations are in having lower latency ram in the intel system but I still think that would account for some performance differences.
