I wrote a paper on Nike's supply chain a few weeks ago for Sociology class. Nike doesn't employ sweatshop workers directly because they don't own the sweatshops. Instead they contract out manufacturing work to the owners who are usually wealthy Asian folks. So you could argue that Nike isn't responsible for the exploitation. But then again, Nike knows what goes on and they still give sweatshop owners their business.
Nike claims that it is doing sweatshop workers a service because the workers get paid a higher salary than they would get otherwise if they were working in farming. For the most part this is true. The $100/month that Indonesian workers get paid is more than the median national income. But they are producing thousands of pairs of shoes that each sell for about $100...
Try to convince your friends that viewing women-on-women is pleasurable for all heterosexual males, not just lawyers. I mean, why should those suits get to have all the fun?? I really don't see what intellectual property has to do with anything unless you bring your video camera or one of the chicks is very intelligent. But most lesbians are very kinky and stuff, so they probably won't mind if you record them. And if one the chicks is smart then just RUN. Nerdy chicks aren't hot, everyone knows that.
You should forget about software licenses too. I mean Lesbian pr0n videos are alright, but they are no substitute to being there in person. I also wouldn't recommend getting into kludge unless you are into kinky stuff like that.
Remember: Girly Pink Lesbians should be for EVERYONE.
I don't know where you took your finance class, but the behavior of aquired's stock price post-merger announcement has nothing to do with the strength of the merger, it's sometimes affected by public perception of the merger though. It all depends on the terms. Almost always the aquired company gets a premium on top of whatever their stock was trading at last. The question is what type of currency is being used to buy them out. If it's cash(see the Intel + Xircom merger and the Sun + Cobalt merger) then the aquired stock will trade at the aquisition price minus some small percentage of uncertainty factor, the chance that the merger will not go through from some reason(not approved by shareholders for example).
BUT if the currency used to aquire is stock in the aquiring company then there are two terms that I've generally seen: 1) Share holders gets a fixed number of aquiring company shares(say 5.2 or something) for each share of the aquired company they own. And 2) Share holders of the aquired recieve a number of shares of the aquiring equal to some fixed dollar ammount on the day the deal goes through(IE $50 in the aquiring company's stock).
NOW situation #2 usually behaves like the cash buy out I taked about before. Situation #1 is the only one that sees the stock price of the aquired have a chance to drop after the deal is announced. But like I said before, it's not about strength of the merger, it's about perception. If the public thinks that the deal stinks then they will sell the aquiring company down, which will bring down the aquisition price, which will in turn bring down the price of the aquired. Also this will happen if the public thinks the aquiring company overpaid.
These are the same guys that made the S3 ViRGE, the biggest POS ever made. The ViRGE was so bad that S3 had to change their name. Personally I think it would be great if these losers went out of business.
He's not a CS professor, he's an IT professor. There's a big difference. And even if he was a CS professor then not knowing about KDE/Gnome/X would not make him an idiot. These are just programs, tools for getting jobs done. What if he never uses them?? It has nothing to do with intelligence, and zero to do with CS research. If someone asked you about some feature of MS Word and you said "I don't know, I don't use Word" would that make you a moron??
Read the EULA before you click "accept". If you don't agree with the terms and conditions then don't install the software. You have no right to dictate what software companies can and can not do with their property. Software that companies write belongs to them so they should be free to do whatever they choose with it, even if they require handing over your first born or something. Consumers already have the power to fight overly restrictive IPOs without new laws, it's called letting your money talk.
Club cards are intrusive and Big Brother-ish, but fingerprint scanners are a great technological innovation?? Boycott these stores for great justice, or a day may soon come where fingerprint scanning is the only accepted method of payment.
Hire me dood, I'll do the security audit $$$FOR CHEAP$$$. I GUARANTEE I'll remove more security holes than I create OR YOUR MONEY BACK. Why spend millions of dollars on a high-priced consultant?? I'll work for CHEAP. I'll audit your entire network, no matter how large, for $10,000!! That's nearly $90,000 off the regular price!! So if I fuck up and someone later haxors your boxes then you can just spend the $90,000 on new ones. WHAT A DEAL!!
Also, I'm black, so if you don't hire me then you are racist and I'll have to report you.
This thing is nice and small, but here are some things to consider:
- It's less expandable than a normal board. - It costs more than a normal board + case. - Since the case is so small, the internal temperature is much higher, which may create heat problems.
Yeah, it's cute, but who really cares?? It's not like you are going to carry it with you wherever you go. If you have an office so tiny that you don't eat breakfast so you can fit in the door then buy one of these. Otherwise it's just a useless novelty IMO.
Note to moderators: please mod me up, I'm trying to get back to positive karma. I think this post deserves to be at +1, don't you??
If you apply enough braking force then you can stop anything on a dime.
This might cause people to fly off their Segways though. As an experiment, drive your car 12 MPH and then slam on the brakes. Now imagine you are standing up rather than sitting down with your seatbelt on.
The only people you are going to see using Segways any time soon are government employees. Why?? No one in their right mind would pay $9000 for what is really just a slow bicycle. I mean if you could buy 90 bikes or one Segway which would you choose??
Of course this doesn't apply to government spending since people in charge of purchasing are spending taxpayer dollars, not their own. Yeah, put that order of Segways right next to the box of five thousand dollar toilet seats please.
What exactly is the problem here?? Are you saying that people should have the right to view child porn??
You're either with us or you're against us. And in this case if you're against us then you are responsible for millions of children being murdered and molested. Please think about your position carefully.
P3P has absolutely no Application-Server/Scripting support. It's just a simple XML-File that tells the User what (personal) data the Website collects, and is Requested with "hard-coded" relative URL's. Assume a PHP Website with URL-based Session's. A User Request the Homepage (/index.phtml) - he's anonymous, collected data is anonymous. The (static) P3P File tells the User that the collected data is anon. Well, now the User logs-in via a Form-Submit and reloads the Page (/index.phtml). The information is set in the PHP-Session, the User is shown other (personalized) Content, but the P3P-File is still the same, telling the user, that the collected data is still anonymous - this is (or may be) wrong now.
P3P has no mechanism to handle this case, in P3P you can only set a different policy for (sub-)folders (differrent URI's). The problem is, that the GET Request is absolutely the same, it doesn't matter if the user is logged-in or anonymous (well, it would be a security hole, if someone is able to find out, if a user is logged-in when (s)he takes a look at the URL, hm?).
Sure, it's possible to copy all "templates" to another subfolder and link logged-in users to this one, but why should I do so? The advantage of using templates (a I define them) is that they just show any content. They don't care if this content is personalized or not. The content is "prepared" by the "business logic" - programmed in PHP - and stored in a database. This way, I'm able to use the same "templates" for logged-in and anonymous users - well, half the work to do...
I bet Osama Bin Laden is reading this article right now and having orgasms about the possibility of open source military software. LISTEN YOU MORONS: Giving Palistinian terrorists the source code to our missile shield is NOT A GOOD IDEA. Giving Fidel Castro the source code to our spy planes is NOT A GOOD IDEA. Giving Osama the source code to software that controls our nukes is NOT A GOOD IDEA.
Open source isn't always the way to go. And this is one clear example of that. If you disagree with me then you should move to Afghanistan where they have no food or water, no computers, no electricity, no toothbrushes, etc. and see how you like it over there.
Google returns search results based on the "rating" of a site. The rating is mostly based upon how many other sites in Google's database link to that site. While this scheme is more tamper-proof than the "greatest word match" that some search engines use, it isn't invincible.
It's quite easy to get your site rated high: Create a hundred free web sites on geocities and post a page full of nothing but links to the site you want to pump up. You'll get rated "10/10" in no time.
This is total bullshit. The only market Switzerland flourishes in is the watch market, and that's only because retards are willing to pay any ammount of money for a piece of metal that has the word "Rolex" on it.
Look at every major company that has anything to do with computers. IBM?? It's American, or USian if you prefer. Microsoft?? Even though you all hate them, they are American. What about Intel?? Same. Where are all the billion dollar Swiss/Netherlandian tech start ups??
If the life is gone then how can we verify that it even existed at all?? Kind of like saying 100 unknown species of animals go extinct in the rainforest every day...

Will there be guest appearances by Alf and The Noid??
Does Open Office have that talking paperclip dude?? If not then it's just a cheap immitation.

This will only encourage the act of chopping off fingers. Victims will be out a finger and a few thousand dollars in condoms and baby oil.

Didn't they claim to be "spyware free"?? Now it looks like the spyware comes along with the program, free of charge.
So what's the alternative?? Go back to IRC and ftp?? I hate uploading, it's dumb. What do you all use to get your MP3s??

Ryu: Arrrrrrr-yuuuuuu-keeeeeennnnn (dragon punch)
Guile: No, I'm Guile.
