can you show me millions of people who even know what vorbis is? actually, what is Ogg and what is vorbis. I dont even know. I suppose one is the container..
" From the article, "The move is a shift for the Hotmail business, which in the past, has charged users who wanted to read their mail using desktop software, rather than a Web browser. Microsoft charged $20 and up for its paid service."""
No, this needs clarification. The service where you access hotmail from outlook and outlook express is free if you were using it in the past before MS made it a paid service.
XP released in 2001. OSX 10.4 released in 2005. Does anyone else see a problem with this comparison? how about we look at the specs for Vista and compare that with 10.4 or we can compare 10.1 and XP. 10.1 needed 128 but would run on 64Mb and was much smaller.
i dont think anyone outside of the geek communit cares about DRM. Most people dont mind. Most people dont even encounter the DVD DRM and dont even know about it.
Actually, I am a mac user/developer and I expect the number of Mac worms to increase by 5-10 times the current amount. I dont want to agree with windows fanboys, but have to admit this. This really a cuse for alarm. The number of worms will increase by at least 5x and millions of mac users are not protected.
I downloaed the IE7 beta 2 for XP yesterday and you can see that explorer is no longer tied at all to the web browser. Going to slashdot.org in an explorer window starts the default browser now.
not could happen. Did happen. ReactOS which is making an open source NT/2000 clone got infected with tainted (windows 2000) code and a all hell broke loose.
To quote the "article" I have owned several Macintosh computers. I had new world and old world bios machines including several older 6500s, 7600s, etc.. Wow, I didn't know Macs used BIOS and on top of that there were new and old ones. Maybe that is why it was such a big deal when someone got XP running on a Macintel. You learn something new on slashdot everyday.
I always thought BIOS was an intel thing. Oh well, I guess Open Firmware never caught on in the mac world.
Ugh. If this was a typo, it would be one thing. I mean the old world and new word ROMs have nothing to do with bios. Old and New both have Open Firmware. What on earth is this person talking about? I think others have already ripped this thing to shreds. Reading the first few paragraphs was enough for me.
Considering I had no idea what an 8track was (aside from some kind of tape that is the subject of jokes) and have never even seen one, I actually had no clear idea what your analogy meant. It would be interesting to know how many other people actually got what you meant by ipod is like an eight track. After looking at the wikipedia article (linked for anyone else who might be intersted) I actually thought you meant it was an inexpensive portable. You may as well have been taking about records and wax cylinders on a gramaphone.
I dont know about the rest, but " Ogg Vorbis support?" becasue literally, no one other than a tiny tiny handful of people use it. And looking at how big a deal it was getting OGG working oh a portable (what was it? a floating point issue?) , it is really not worth the extra cost. Of the few people who even know what OGG is, fewer have OGG files even fewer will buy ipods. Do you see how in apple's eyes, it is basically some obscure format no one really uses?
anyone else feel that the "Net Neutrality Proposal" sunds too much like "Equalization of Opportunity Act". Yeah, i know they arent the same thing.
correct me if i am wrong, but isnt a cokroach Periplaneta americana?

not fucking have sex. Why do you want to spend thousands on protection? what kind of idiotic statement is that?
not to mention the job system which is incredibly well done.

"I heard that Steve Jobs now is a Universal Humanary."
I think thats what Ubuntu is.. or kubuntu or edubuntu or something like that.
there are Haxies that allow you to do all of that.
you missed the key word "Up to 60% of the code i"
Up to. You know, someone can say up to 100% of people at MS are using linux. That really means very litte.
but it is matrix stuff today!

Yeh, but webkit will only partially compile on windows, and not at all on linux.
huh? you can run it on linux pefectly fine. http://gtk-webcore.sourceforge.net/ you can even set galeon to use webcore instead of Gecko.
well, GNUStep is pretty close to cocoa already.
um, i think that is what people were talking about here with contamination.

ok, why is everything an ipod killer these days? I've seen everything from cell phones to game consoles labelled an ipod killer.
