My remote media player of choice is an xbox running Xbox Media Centre.
Get a cheap 2nd hand xbox & DVD remote and away you go. Stream music & videos from your server elsewhere (yes, it even supports ogg!). Also supports streaming media for the occasional radio station. Very impressive indeed - I can't praise it enough.
I hate to do a 'me too' post, but when I lived in Boston and has Speakeasy DSL, I was consistantly impressed with their very intelligent customer service people and general attitude towards their customers. Excellent.
And besides, who else would give you 2 static IPs as part of their standard package?
I agree that the handwriting recognition on the P800 is nice. But i like one handed tapping. I SMS a lot. I SMS on the move. I SMS while using a mouse. I SMS while driving. Can't do that with handwriting recog.
The P800 has a keypad for times like that. But no T9. What exactly were they thinking?
Gotta love the hugeness of the thing, the total lack of T9 predictive text input, overpriced MemoryStick Duo's, SonyEricssons's track record with the attrocious T68...
Yeah, gotta get me one quick...
Seriously though, I really wanted to love this phone, but after 15 minutes of playing with it, I just couldn't bring myself to like it. I really wanted one too.
Thankfully I managed to offload that T86 POS off to the girlfriend and I'm using the wonderful Nokia 7650 now. I just couldn't take the T68 any more.
Basically all the same complaints as above - not receiving calls even though you have full signal, losing the address book for 4 months (where did it go? Why did it suddenly reappear?) The endless repeating text messages. It is an absolutely attrocious phone. If you take your mobile seriously, don't even think about getting one. Nasty, nasty thing. And I can't even count the number of times I deleted the 1st entry in my phonebook.
Rant over

Well, you're kinda right, but not quite. Projectors actually show each frame twice in order to stop the flickering (if you just light the frame for longer, it weakens the print. Whereas this 48fps movie format actually has 48 frames, each with motion blur (it's not a 'technique', it's just what happens when you expose a frame for 1/48th of a second). maxivision48 has much higher resolution by using more surface area of the print and the images are sharper because there is less motion blur captured. Of course the downside of all this is that it looks more like TV.:( Humans have come to recognise 24fps as 'film' and 50/60fps as 'TV'. That's why HD has a 24fps setting when it can happily do 60.
Just wondering if anybody had any ideas what the IT employment situation is like in Japan? How easy would it be for a British citizen (or a US one) to get a work visa and a job in Tokyo?
Anybody have any experience of this?
Phlog also has a flick-like API, just mail the guy who runs it (aka me) and I'll give you an API key and a link to the API.

I couldn't agree more.

Not quite...
Orange didn't make the cell phone, HTC did and then shopped it around. Orange were the only ones foolish enough to pick it up and sell it.
Anyway, why is this news? The SPV has been in the shops for > 6 months.
It appears someone's already done that on my MMS mobile blog site... Nice.

Nope. It runs Symbian 7 with UIQ interface.
For a Linux based smartphone, see Motorola A760.

Well, it _can_ be, depends on the source material and the broadcaster.
You have the option of 24, 25, 29.97 or 30 progressive or 50 and 60 interlaced.
Most prime time tv shows are filmed on 24fps 35mm then telecine'd and converted to 30fps (60 fields per sec) for NTSC TV.
