I'd like to see a test probe fly just as fast as we can get it to go. I'm sure it'll be pulverized by dust motes if you can get it moving fast enough, but it would be cool to see something we've created jetting about a some considerable fraction of light speed. Maybe you can get to another star system in a human lifetime?
I'd just virtualize the controls, make it a MMO game, then offer cash prizes for the top "scores." I guarantee you, you'll have some 14 yr old with a D average who'll figure out how to bounce Hellfire missiles off walls to kill terrorists behind corners.
Considering all three sources of funding, their contractors estimate that it should take the couple a little under five years for the solar panels to pay for themselves.
So, they'd pay for themselves in 10 years in gross.
Do you know how offensive it is to keep pushing that "he speaks so well" meme? He managed to maneuver his way through Chicago politics without making the dirty deals lots of local politicians rely on. He took down the Clinton political machine that had been slowly pushing Hillary for her run for 10 years. He beat John McCain who had 30 years of service or so in the U.S. Senate. And, he trounced McCain in all three debates. Sarah Palin has oratory skills and an appealing face. That's not what our current President is governing with.
Yes, because in this country and this world, being Black has been such a meal ticket to wealth and respect::( You're claiming to be progressive, and you think that his appeal is because he's Black?
The fact is IT was a coveted career choice that unfortunately flooded the market with a lot of 6 week wonders. The days of every shmoe on the street thinking he'll get a certification and get a job paying $50K a year are over. And, trust me I know because I AM one of those shmoes who lucked up and ended up with a company that outlived the Dot Com Bubble; and long enough for me to get competent at what I do.
Yes it is. Why? Because it's a clever ruse to use the protections afforded to banks by our government (in exchange for their promise to follow conservative financial practices) to leverage risky investments. Banks lose? They get a bailout. Banks win? They pocket the profits. And, since we haven't restored the regulations that got us into this mess in the first place, you can bet your ass the same thing will happen again after enough of us have forgotten. It took about 50 years to forget last time, this time they won't have to worry about repealing laws to start rolling dice.
I don't think you know what you're talking about. Cite some ballot stuffing or registration fraud. You do know that ACORN checks the forms it submits and flags what they deem to be fraudulent right? Then, the city does it's own check. Every time you read a story about ACORN submitting bogus registration data, if you can get past the headline, you'll see that it's ACORN who is flagging the registrations and the workers turning them in.
So, why do they turn them in at all? Because it's the LAW. They have to in order to prevent even the implication of registration screening.
Ignore that silly bit of domestic surveillance you see over there. Look over here at this funny video of a white kid pretending to be a pimp and getting tax advice!
Mental maps of places aren't like GPS maps. They record limited data to get you from place to place. Knowing that the interstate has a 2 degree kink 57 miles into your trip does nothing but waste brain cycles. Trying to use precision input for our imprecise cognition is a poor coupling.
...look for who's going to benefit. From the article:
Many of his largest campaign donors stand to benefit from his newly introduced legislation. Honeywell International, for example, is a major manufacturer RFID equipment. The company also happens to be the second biggest contributor in the current cycle to Blumenauerâ(TM)s Political Action Committee (PAC), the Committee for a Livable Future. Another top-ten donor, Accenture, is a specialist in the video tolling field.
I thought the intro level for WoW was perfect. Enough repetition to allow yo to figure out how to manage your toon, yet not enough to bore you, and not so dangerous that you found yourself dying over and over and becoming frustrated. I remember the first time I played, I was completely sucked in and went 4 hours or so before I forced myself to quit playing. Of course, in the months to come, this self control was completely lost.
People are just too stupid in this country. Idiocracy is starting to look like the work of a fortune teller. I love engaging in debates with people and it's fear-inducing to see how incapable people are of thinking constructively; yet at the same time can be so vehemently convinced that they're own ignorant thought processes are infallible. Look at the health care debate; all it takes is one trusted source to say "The President is going to kill your grandma" and an army of nitwits rises to march on DC, all the while screaming "take your hands off my Medicare you damned dirty government!" Now, how the hell is a country composed of this many stupid people supposed to reform itself?
Even on slow-assed, jungle bandwidth I'll still PWN you and your clan in Battlefield. If I had to wait for the pigeon to crap out packets, your heads will still be exploding! Here come the pain, bitches!
You also invariably end up paying more because the private sector is trying to suck profit out as well as provide a service. And, by nature the government becomes vendor-locked, which the private sector uses to leverage even higher returns.

Worked for Ms. Pacman

You want to talk about subsidized power...

Check the Drudge Report for links.
Big myth that the mortgage crisis was caused by or even largely contributed to by home loans to the poor.
Securitizing the mortgages alone is not evil.

I don't get it? Why would a guy named "Dick Pick" be so sensitive?
I'm very impressed. An operating system, Coded in Haiku.
Now, I can go back to sleep
It is. There was a story a few months ago about the Department of Defense using router hardware sent to them with onboard hacks.
