Regardless of the laws, we've already seen that the telecoms will grant the government whatever access it wants. If they get busted, they'll go cry to Congress for retroactive protection. Same results with or without legal protection of your privacy.
I'm a little confused by this; note it's been almost a decade since I studied chemistry. But, isn't elemental hydrogen two protons and elemental helium two protons and two neutrons? Is the smaller size a result of the size of the electron cloud?
They could have invited a celebrated Libertarian like Ron Paul. I'm sure he would have wanted a space program too...but to blast brown people off into space.
Exit poll data has been "adjusted" to match real results. Note that news organizations have public and PRIVATE exit poll data. People are still trying to get access to the private data and no one has released it as far as I know. On a related note, there was one story I read that the exit pollsters weren't professionals, which would account for the bad data. But, I'm still waiting for the conclusion. Apparently, Kucinich is trying to get a recount going.
Here's a reference, too lazy to find you an official source. I've been watching a ton of news coverage since the primary. I could care less about pre-election polls, since frankly there's a known issue with white voters having voter booth second-thoughts about black candidates. The exit polling is my only concern since its reliability is so much more accurate.
The Western World SANCTIONS other countries when exit polls conflict with actual results. Despite the cries of the punditry, exit polls are highly accurate. Pollsters have been perfecting their methods for decades. If you ever start seeing a deviation, rather than saying "Polls are stupid anyway," you should be asking yourself "WTF is going on?" I'm not saying that the primary was rigged, but SOMETHING happened and we MUST find out if we're to have an honest Presidential election next time around. I know most people can't believe that election fraud on a wide scale can't happen here in "Democracy Central," but we've already found black and white evidence in 2000 and 2004. Ask Tim Griffin about caging lists:(
Oh really? Not me! He's a kook running on the disillusionment of Republicans who've watched their party, with TOTAL control of our government (Senate, House, Presidency, Supreme Court 7/9) for 6 years, cshit the bed. I've been waiting for more information on his past to start leaking out into the general public's awareness. Lots of classic half-baked Libertarian ideas that don't stand up after you actually analyze the problem (like his Libertarian alternative to the Civil War).
And, to quote the philosopher Jake Blues: I hate Illinois Nazis..
From the sounds of it, this author pays his bills by coming up with sensational, baseless titles. I'm going to now write a book declaring the gasoline-powered car DEAD since gas is now $3/gallon. Sure, we still need them and they'll be around for at least another 20 years, but can't you just imagine some hypothetical scenario where people wouldn't drive cars anymore?
Airliners are HUGE aircraft. Plus, they have redundant engines. Plus, the types of SAM systems we're probably worried about are shoulder launched since terrorists aren't going to be able to acquire or move larger systems. These smaller warheads probably can't take down an airliner under reasonable conditions. That all adds up to a waste of money to me.
It was our country's investment in its people and infrastructure that created our markets. For Corporate America to turn around and outsource the jobs, that only exist because of the marketplace created by our economy, is NOT what I call leveling the playing field. The issue with outsourcing is that Corporate America wants the benefits and protections afforded by the United States AND the cheap labor of the Third World to sell products INSIDE the United States.
More power to Third World countries that develop their own economies to create goods and services to sell abroad. That's not the issue.
Wrong. People are just that ignorant of how IT technology works and can't comprehend the concept of phishing. I've seen some fantastically mimicked phishing attempts and God forbid you get one simultaneously with a legitimate transaction. I've had that happen with Paypal and I seriously doubt 99% of people wouldn't have just followed the links to reattempt a transaction. I place much of the blame on the browsers and mail clients that aren't sophisticated enough to notice that BankOfAmerica.com is pointing at a server in a Russian subnet.
Did you go to college? Heaving around all those textbooks SUCKED, especially when I had to walk to campus! This is the one great usage I can see for e-books, or at least PDF releases of texts, but I doubt the printing industry is going to give up on leeching off of college kids.
Some of the internet-induced changes to language are cheeky and fun, but some are ominous. I remember how horrible it was the first time I heard "rape" being used as an analogy for "pwn." At the time I was going out with a girl who was a rape counselor, so maybe I was hyper-sensitive at the time. But, what really disturbed me was how even knowing how I felt about that usage, I started to use the word in that context myself. I wonder how such a change in language might impact the real-world offense. Do people now soften a bit as they associate a tragic news story with last night's beat down in Alterac Valley?
"women are probably less likely to completely trash the washroom"
Spoken like a man who's never had to clean up a women's public restroom.

My first act would be to declare Ron Paul and enemy combatant. If anyone mouthed off, I'd declare THEM enemy combatants, too!

Too bad you'll need a Beowulf cluster of hard drives just to store a single movie.

I'm sorry, but you're wrong. The deviation in exit polls was well reported yesterday.

I'll wait for the next generation car. I've got to have an email client in my ride; apologies to the University of Washington :)
Like most /.ers, I've been enamored of Ron Paul...

Well, this is still security through obscurity.
In that case, isn't cryptography just "security through obscurity" since the real key is buried in known iteration of numbers?
Not sure, but the answer seems to strangely shift depending on the angle I'm viewing it from.

That was a joke.
I don't know, from the pictures that ice looks really dirty. Who'd want to drink any of that?

The Republicans will get blown away in the 2008 elections. Go figure.
