If you are a network engineer type, and you want to make some money, this is maybe some very good news. Most government agencies contract out this type of work. And I know there is a severe shortage of good network types out there who can grok ipv6. I am actually glad about this. It is kinda like Y2K all over again.

"From a corporate perspective, we are not confident where Linux is right now today. A large enterprise needs to be sure because it relates to securifying [sic] the environment. We see some of the same things occurring that did to Unix -- it could splinter into many different types of languages. We are quite cautious about Linux and its deployment," said Rasmussen.
~/dev - All my dev projects go under here ~/downloads - All my downloads ~/downloads/nzb - NZB related things go here ~/media/music ~/media/video ~/work - This is staging area for all my ~/dev projects ~/src - If I compile anything from src that I didn't write, it goes here ~/tmp - general crap. I prefer to use this instead of/tmp ~/docs - Resumes, papers I have written, and notes of things I don't want to lose
I have been toying with the idea of automatically mounting my encrypted usb keys and syncing data back and forth, but of course I haven't had much down time to try it out.
I played CoH for a couple of months, but the same thing always seems to happen: You get sucked in, and you lose of alot of real life time trying to push your character higher.
Someone needs to create a MMORPG with a fast track, so someone who has a real job, and a family commitment can reap the benefits of the game that they pay for every month.
The funny thing is, that even though I haven't played in a couple of months, I still can't force myself to cancel my account.
You forget that when you raise gasoline prices, you are raising prices for everyone. Think about the companies with the huge fleets of cars and trucks. This will get very expensive.
Truly feels like the end of an era. Before all these sites we have now, Slashdot was the place to go to find anything interesting.

this has to be one of the best put together april fools jokes i have seen in a long time. i'm impressed.
The FBI still employs typing pools and all sorts of old fashioned things. The old guard is still in charge at the bureau.
The vesa driver is sooooo unacceptable.
I don't use firefox as an option to internet explorer. I use it because it works well for what I need it for.

I like kmail for the same reason. I don't like how kmail borked my imap mailbox though. Good thing I believe in backing up regularly.

Sun can do this now with Solaris 10. Virtualization is a cool technology, and everyone in this space seems to be heading there.
Does this really work?
Is it too hard to put a javadoc tag in the comment, or a maybe even a pod tag?

what makes you think you are talented?
if you are high school, why don't you go out and enjoy it?
JBoss 4. Even though I can't figure it the first time most time I look at it, the answer is always in the log.
Even though it is resource intensive, I prefer the developer log everything, and let me decide how verbose or terse I want the logs to be.

What?
What is needed is some decent car computer software. Stuff to manage the AC and the radio. I'll try it out when someone manages that.
Yes we do. Gentoo on a 15" powerbook sounds pretty damn nice right now.
I agree with your point, but microwaves (as in microwave ovens) were created by Raytheon in 1947. And this was 10 years before NASA even came to be.
What happened to the promised hologram storage?
Plone is a CMS built on Zope. You will have to create your own solution, but I believe Plone will be a good base to start with.
Oh... and this directory is automounted from another server. And it even is my home directory in windows as well, so it works out well.
