    You aren't the first one to think of this. From wikipedia, "The galactic center harbours a compact object of very large mass (named Sagittarius A*), strongly suspected to be a supermassive black hole. Most galaxies are believed to have a supermassive black hole at their center."

    Really, we all know that people will forget/lose the password. Or they'll write it down and leave it in the laptop case.

    This was already addressed to some degree in the SciFi book "The Last Mortal Man". The reasoning for making them illegal was that the criminal element used them to evade law enforcement. I'm sure the DHS would have alot to say about this.

    This argument reminds me of the Ford attitude twards the public when it came to the Model T. They didn't see any need to change with the times and in fact kept producing the same model for about three years after the public and most other car manufacturers of the time had moved on. They had to play catch up. Admittedly this brought about the Model A, but the point is that they (Microsoft) can lead or scramble to get with the rest of the world. Relevance changes very quicly.

    Home firewall/router software is better than nothing, and a small firewall/router hardware combo is probably better than that. Personally I perfer the Lynksys hardware.

    Of course, we all knew this already, didn't we? The results weren't suprising to me and I doubt that any of the regular /. crowd would be either. Yes, I mean you.

    Seriously, I've seen some really good comics die online because the author didn't keep a regular update scheculd. VG Cats almost went this way, but managed to recover.

    Ok, I recognize that you are probably trying to promote Sendmail. But for a variety of reasons, there are folks out there that can't or don't want to use Sendmail. I don't use Sendmail because I consider it overly complex. I use postfix and yes, I use the RBLs before it gets to SpamAssassin (gasp). If you tune it properly, it works just fine, thank you. Also the email list archives are extremely helpful in this matter, as is the list itself if you've done your homework first.

    If you're running a home network with a mix of Windows workstations and Linux servers, I'd recommend bacula. It can be tricky to setup, but it will backup to DVD, tape, hard disks, etc..

    I use it and it's prevented some real heartaches caused by deleted/corrupt files.
