You aren't the first one to think of this. From wikipedia, "The galactic center harbours a compact object of very large mass (named Sagittarius A*), strongly suspected to be a supermassive black hole. Most galaxies are believed to have a supermassive black hole at their center."
If they decide not to do anything, couldn't some company claim it as salvage or abandoned property and then hire the Russians (or someone) to get up there an repair it?
This was already addressed to some degree in the SciFi book "The Last Mortal Man". The reasoning for making them illegal was that the criminal element used them to evade law enforcement. I'm sure the DHS would have alot to say about this.
This argument reminds me of the Ford attitude twards the public when it came to the Model T. They didn't see any need to change with the times and in fact kept producing the same model for about three years after the public and most other car manufacturers of the time had moved on. They had to play catch up. Admittedly this brought about the Model A, but the point is that they (Microsoft) can lead or scramble to get with the rest of the world. Relevance changes very quicly.
Home firewall/router software is better than nothing, and a small firewall/router hardware combo is probably better than that. Personally I perfer the Lynksys hardware.
Of course, we all knew this already, didn't we? The results weren't suprising to me and I doubt that any of the regular/. crowd would be either. Yes, I mean you.
Seriously, I've seen some really good comics die online because the author didn't keep a regular update scheculd. VG Cats almost went this way, but managed to recover.
You probably understand how this works, but I'm sure you can think of someone in your family that you might want to call and warn about this. Maybe you've told them a thousand times about the dangers of clicking on that link, but do it again anyway. I mean, you love them, right?
And if you don't guess who they'll call first about how their computer has gotten SLOW again.
Gandalf and Gollum are not good examples. Actually it shouldn't make much of a difference with any of them, the only race that ages quickly in the Tollkien world is Man.
Ok, I recognize that you are probably trying to promote Sendmail. But for a variety of reasons, there are folks out there that can't or don't want to use Sendmail. I don't use Sendmail because I consider it overly complex. I use postfix and yes, I use the RBLs before it gets to SpamAssassin (gasp). If you tune it properly, it works just fine, thank you. Also the email list archives are extremely helpful in this matter, as is the list itself if you've done your homework first.
If you're running a home network with a mix of Windows workstations and Linux servers, I'd recommend bacula. It can be tricky to setup, but it will backup to DVD, tape, hard disks, etc..
I use it and it's prevented some real heartaches caused by deleted/corrupt files.
It's not off topic, just think about it for a moment.

TIA!
Really, we all know that people will forget/lose the password. Or they'll write it down and leave it in the laptop case.

the bribery check was good.
Really!
Well, that's what they tell us, anyway.

They'll use this to tweak the statement until it passes the test.
... I love the irony of Yahoo reporting this.
So this would be just one more thing for the space elevator to do.
Come on, we all knew it was a matter of time.
Don't tell the RIAA.

Doesn't this prove the article's point?

Episode 14, for you Sir Monty Python fanatics./I

Buwahahahahah!

I'm really looking forward to this.
I don't think they'd hold back at all if their own game sucked. They'd be the first to admit it.
