    I think that what's going to happen is that they are going to go after "end use" support, making sure that the RPMs for RH-ES et al are current and secure. There will no longer be a free lunch (or beer) for the latest updates from Red Hat.

    Yes, I realize that I can roll my own kernel, I've done it many times. It's just that they work better when RH makes the RPM. Not that this is as it should be.

    There are many people on both the SpamAssassin and qmail-scanner list that are talking about this. Any software that uses RBLs may have to be reconfigured.

    And depending on just Bayesian filtering is putting all of your eggs in one basket, IMHO (though it is a pretty darn good basket). There are many spammers out there trying to poison Bayes databases by adding random dictonary words to their HTML based emails.

    On a related note, regarding IBM, I'm wondering why they don't take the position of offering legal counsel to (at least some of) the users currently being threatened by SCO

    Because then they would be effectivly acknowledging that SOC's claim may be valid.

    They are competing against a big company that is already bankrupt and in protection in court.
