Things getting to a point where no one wants them.
Kind of an interesting analogy. This could be similar to the Big Iron vs PC issues that happened during the 80's. Everyone wants the speed, responsiveness, and immediate feedback of the PC. From a core OS standpoint, Microsoft just doesn't provide this. If you want a change, such as how it handles your system of written communication, you either pay the big bucks and DIY or wait for them to do it for you. Security issues tend to take longer with Microsoft. Etc, etc...
Microsoft won't ever go away. But I fee that they will become less relevant.
I think the core of the question is not stock value, but is there something about the overall situation that we are missing. Is there something that we are overlooking that might lead to a "gotcha" by McBride and crew that we can prevent now.
Ok, if he has all the power, what happens when he dies? Has he properly trained anyone to take the reigns? (no) Is there anyone in the top tier that could effectively step in if something happend? (apparently not) If he's getting ready to shoot himself in the foot, is there anyone there he'd listen to with out getting angry and fireing them for saying "Hey, that may not be a good idea"? (doesn't seem to be).
As long as he's alive, Oracle will "do ok", but once he's out of the picture for any reason, it turns into a house of cards.
I've always liked his style. I admit that his main caracters were all essentally the same core personality, but I can truly say that I seriously enjoyed most all of his writing. This will be something I will get no matter what.
Ethereal is the way to go.
I seriously doubt it though.

You can vote the rascals out. Make it as issue oriented if you like. I personally don't care how someone votes, just VOTE!
Probably because folks were trying to use 911 to report them.
They are committing a crime.
I didn't think so.
Wouldn't Microsoft want it then?
BSD isn't dead.
Of course, you have to turn it ON first.
Yea, I forgot about that.
I would LOVE to see what Gabe and Tyco would do. Probably ream them a new A$$.
Read the truth here.
Although you really should have to do something like that, I would think that it would block the signal.
They actually outsourced this to India.
I hear that Tau Ceti is bragging that they bought a larger one.
"Like sandblasting a soup cracker."
Anyone know a reliable source where I can get 2.6 kernel RPMS for RedHat 7.3? Rpmfind doesn't seem to have any of them yet.

That is a question well worth pondering.
Here
It has a slow load due to java applets though.
I think that would be a great book to make into a mini-series. If SciFi channel would do as good a job as they did with Dune it could be classic.

...that way I can just block them at the firewall.
