  1. How do tech-savvy people view Wikipedia? on Nitpicking Wikipedia's Vulnerabilities · · Score: 1

Long and winded. I mean, look at the +5 comments on this thread. I had to move my middle finger 10 times to get to the bottom where I read the QOTD. That was the most important anyway. Whenever someone uses platonic or plutonic or whatever that word is, I usually stop there. Plus the article was huge and had too many links, how do these literaries expect tech-savvy people allowance of our time?!

Ugh. How long do we have to put up with these snobby statements about how the west is so far behind? Look, pal, I live in the "east" -> Taiwan and I "only" have an 8Mbps ADSL setup. Your title would be better phrased: "Look world, you suck. See my 55 Mbps!"

And I also somehow doubt 55 Mbps is everywhere in Japan as you make it sound to be.

Waiting for someone that works at an internet backbone provider to say .. "Japan is *so* behind, look at my Gigabit 10xOC-3 trunk!"

Because destroying innocent human life is not getting things done. It's a roadblock to human progress. The individuals listed and in a followup comment contributed more, as corrupt central authorities, to mankind's detriment than anyone before. And praising governments that still exist in the shadow of their creations, without an acknowledgment of the past, is a disservice to those who've died as a result.

Strong centralized systems lead to corruption and misguided attempts to inoculate the population with their ideals. Central systems are better checked by a cooresponding distributed system. That's why the United States is a strong foundation as long as constructionist views are adhered to.

For example, eminent domain is a *bad* thing. Even though, it may "get things done" via a central authority.

Another example, pushing political agendas through a non-political branch of the government: the judicial branch. This is a *bad* thing. Even though, it may "get things done" via a central authority.

Hope that makes my views clearer.

Also, with inflation taken in account, gas prices are only up %8 from 1950. It was 2.33 a gallon then. That's why people still have the purchasing power to run their vehicles. It's a pretty simple matter, really.

What we don't need are price caps, as suggested by the Communist News Network (CNN). Price caps will cause the same Carter-regime supply-runout gas lines.

In other words, if people want to push an alternative fuel agenda, let the free market drive it by causing oil-based resources to sky rocket in value. Why is the shale in Colorado and Utah becoming cost feasible to develop? Because the oil prices are dictating it. Based on the same principal, hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles will eventually become cost competitive. YMMV.

If you are using scons to do what it claims out of the box, then you might be fine. But, if you try to extend it like it should be able to, you'll run into problems.

Scons is also confusing if you want to do anything more than make c files out of one directory.

Also, the community surrounding it is insufficient to provide full support. Go in with the knowledge you're going to have to open the covers to see what's inside. (ie. you have to be good at Python, even though they claim otherwise.)

Outcome Based Education (OBE) efforts spearheaded by the Washington State School System really highlights the stupidity of the fairness agenda that has seeped into the cracks of our education system. OBE resulted in students slacking at learning and failing class multiple times in order to get the final result: a pat on the back and a greenlight to graduation.

How do I know this? I was a high school student when they first ramped up this stuff. Floated through three semesters of the same stupid reading class because each one had absolutely no motivation to pass it. After failing twice, the third one actually had a motivation: I needed it to graduate.
