As the Kyoto Protocol, a Frankenstein of their own making, takes a strangle hold upon Japan's already struggling economy. Must save face. And they will pay dearly for it.
It's like six sigma and they're forcing the sixth level before ever reaching the second or third. Absolutely asinine.
Here we have environmentalists with multiple hats: give the poor all the rich man's money, but take it all away by forcing unemployment and unreasonable economic burdens by using chicken-little ideology to force people to convert to their various secular religions. And religion it is: tithing to be paid to your local and dear tax collector.
If slavish adherence to a capitalist dogma results in the kind of corporate-centric, slave-worker culture that we keep hearing about across the Atlantic, then personally I'm quite happy if a more flexible approach is taken, thanks.
What, EU's 10-15% unemployable flexibility? Like the communism of Russia, Europe has shown that socialism is a complete and utter failure. Nanny states do not breed innovation, they only breed stagnation. Why do you think the top intellectuals from Europe eventually leave?
Wrong. kpdf is xpdf based. You're thinking of kghostview for the postscript viewer.
kpdf in KDE 3.4 is simply top notch. After using it, I'd never go to acroread. Smooth scrolling, antialias, the links work! Japanese and Chinese work. Weird and stupid Word documents printed with Distiller are viewable where they weren't before (and kghostview, et al cannot view even now).
I'd recommend that you reassess your statements about kpdf before proceeding.
You're forgetting that the main driver of change is the customer/user. And, trust me, they will find every opportunity to squeeze stuff out of you. Designing everything up front will only make you obstinate about every little thing when the customer comes to ask for something. If you're obstinate or keep telling them it's a PCN (project change notification) or CR requiring lots more money, there are plenty of other vendors to step in and do otherwise.
XP/Agile is a way to capture this process. You don't have to do it *all* to gain benefits. Take XP as a menu of things to do. Pick and choose what you want to do and then be off with your project. Hating it *all* based on marketing's and management's laziness would be a shame. (Developers, marketers, and managers will all be lazy anyway no matter what method you use.)
I believe in God and I also believe in life on other Planets. I think most will accept it without that much fuss and without too much modification to personal theological belief systems.
Look a little closer next time you get a credit card through a local bank account. It's not going to be the bank's name on the back, I can guarantee that. And, what worse than to have a local fraud department who'd never think one of their customer's would be abroad.
This is why I no longer carry a Credit Card. As an American living in a foreign country, I used my card frequently in multiple countries. Well, the "security" group at the Credit Card company "detected" that the card was being used illegally. They shut it down 2 or 3 different times. I was so pissed at having to explain to them that I nearly blew up over the phone. This last time they forwarded me to all sorts of people, including their security group. I swear they were going to report *me* to authorities or something.
Anyway, let's just say after this experience, I ripped up my Credit Card and will never do business with FirstUSA or affiliated banks again. (AT&T credit cards too, but that's a different, longer story.)
So, basically, these "detection" systems do nothing but risk false-positives and pissing off a bunch of people.
There would be *no* days to sit and worry if terrorism wasn't dealt with. I don't care what political party your from, when a bomb goes off, your dead. And it has nothing to do with your belief whether you live or not.
No one is going to feel silly, only the extreme pessimists, which, at this juncture in history, seem to permeate throughout the media space: tv, radio, newspaper, and internet. I for one will be glad that I am *alive* to think about it.
What's wrong with being labeled a Republican? Contrary to popular belief in some circles, it's not a demeaning label. Republicanism espouses personal responsibility, even though many of its members do not entirely live up to the claim. Taking away video games from those that have committed crimes (criminals have indeed taken rights away from other people) and allowing more constructive activities is what a Republican should push for and encourage.
Then they edited the constitution and removed freedoms that we once had... and no one spoke up, or if they did, the monkeys were yelling so loudly they couldn't be heard.

I don't know which Europe you're talking about, but it isn't the one where I live.
The UK isn't Europe, you should know better. It's participation in the EU is a fluke.

Not sure. It begs the question: can I copyright my personal information and sue for intellectual property theft if someone leaks it out and copies it?
In Marketing!
So, did the Mayans fart too much? Inquiring minds want to know..
In general, most columnists named "Maureen" spew out a bunch of unfounded bunk.
But searching sucks
Well, duh. That's one of the reasons to use GMail.
We paid for it via taxes.
Government control of this country is sickening.
You mean Roland Pick-a-pail? I mean Piquepaille.
Pique=to backstitch, prick
Paille=straw
A taco made of pricked straw....
and don't forget to store secure information in a non-journaled filesystem. Cause overwrite is a lie.

Or a sufficiently overgrown Chia Pet.
One of the most impressive comments I've ever read on Slashdot, a few and far between happening. Bravo!

Link please. And state statistical probability, for the skeptics among us.
Yeah!
So there.
And by your name, we know that you are a subset of humans. Get it?
