I don't see the alternate gcc3 packages, 7.2 shipped with gcc-2.96 as the pramiry compiler and gcc3 packages as a secondary compiler, why did they kill gcc3?
what components are we counting in these, some of these products have optional mail clients, js debuggers, dom inspectors, and irc included in the installed
How was it Fidel's own fault. Wa sit fidel's fault that the Grau government was Cuba's first free-willing non heavily US influenced govt sinse the spanish American War and we didn't like it so we backed Batista to take control of the Grau govt. Many Cuban's weren't very happy with this Fascist government. Castro responsed and overthrew the Batista government. He then nationalized the Oil industry (and later other US dominitated fields) angering many Cubans with US who flead to the US which is why Castro has a bad rap among many cuban-american's. The Cuban allience with the Soviets kept their soverignty safe from the US and due to geographical, pollitcal, and economic reasons, Cuba knew that the Soviet's wouldn't imperialize them as much. Cuba's government really isn't that bad they have higher literacy than the US and Canada has managed to to maintain good relations with Cuba.
how any action from StreamCast can change people's opinions about them?
Morpheus forked before some things were stable. User's train of thought: This new Morpheus is all unstable and sucky, and since it is based on Gnucleus it must too be all unstable and sucky, I'll go try LimeWire.
Don't forget about "It was he," "She is just like I," "It's a good day when its fonts are working," and "I if I were God I would fix Abiword's font support."
Plan, that way every time I send an email to a college professor asking about one of his papers or send an email to someone who posts on Slashdot I'm gunna get carted off because it is unsolicited email.
Attaching your e-mail adress to a/. comment is soliciting e-mail replies. If a professor gives you an e-mail adress, he's soliciting questions, unless he specifically states otherwise.
I grew up witha computer at home from an early age (and both my parents used computers at work, ny dad had a sun worksatation and my mom had an IBM). I remember when my mom brought home a PS/2 from work (and i mean the oldschool IBM PC not the videogame console) when i was about 5. I played classic sierra adventure games (like KQIV and QfGI) on it. In the games, I read from the screen, and I typed commands. I thought of solutions to the problems presented to me. I learned about MS-DOS to get into the games (and most of my friends who use UNIX in highschool grew up with DOS) while most of the Non-Unix users didn't. In fourth and fifth grades I played with basic.
And on a note about conformance: In elementary school children conform. TEaching the children blind nationalism is teaching them to conform. Letting them color outside of the lines isn't non-conformist if they don't understand any other way. I conformed with the norms throught elementtary school. I began to doubt and challenge the system in Junior high while many of my peers didn't. Computers won't turn children into conformists.
Why used a closed source client(I htink Trillian is closed)? Use GPL gaim instead. And if gaim isn't availible on your platform, good news, they segregated the UI and protocols code. I'm surprised that there isn't a Windows port of gaim and a carbonized version yet.
Alot of people are not that inclined to be front line supporters of "OGG" [read: mp3 format called OGG]. They like to install their real/wmp and go on their way. Actually the Vorbis DirectShow filter allows MP3 dtreams in Ogg containers.
If you want to be "smart" why not write a wmp filter for OGG streams. That way they *can* use their media player to play those OGG encoded streams. Naturally the trick would be to convince MS to bundle it. I don't think they would care much since they do bundle an MP3 player with it. There already is one
How does this intel compiler compare to drs's agcc (as opposed to pcg's) optimized for pentium class and athlon chips. It can't handle the kernel but it can take just about anything else.
"The recent troubles we've had at kernel.org pretty much highlight the issues with having an offsite system with no easy physical access. This begs the question if we could establish another primary kernel.org site; this would not only reduce the load on any one site but deal with any one failure in a much more graceful way."
I'm confused; I don't see how it begs the question. I dont see an attempt to prove anything with itself.
From what i've heard Konqueror also doesn't support PNG transparency. And if your comparing the UI try to compare it to Galeon which is mozilla embeded into a Gtk+ interface.
not quite:
first there were Milestones 1-17 then M17 was continued into 0.6 (Netscape 6.0 branch) and released after the M18 branch was released. After that it continued with 0.7, 0.8, 0.8.1 and 0.9.0 from there thare are three types of releases 0.9.[odd] (regular branch), 0.9.0[even] - regular branch to be made into a netscape release, 0.9.[even].1 - netscape branch released a few days after next odd.
i think a lot of web designers won't use png over gif because Netscape (=4.78)
WRONG!
NS4.7x can view PNGs. It can't handle PNG transparency.
and IE for Mac won't view png. that leaves the entire mac world and some of the pc world not able to see it,
WRONG!
QuickTime can view PNGs and we've already estblish NS 4.7x can view PNGs.
so why bother?
'Tis widly adopted, duh!
With mp3s, it doesn't matter to me if someone else can hear it or not.. I want to listen to it. With png, there's a good chance you're putting it on the web for someone else. The two cannot be compared fairly.
A good number of MP3s are put up for others eg Emusic.com, Napster, Aimster, Gnutella/0.4.
By the way, it is considered grammatically correct to capatalize the pronoun I, especially when it is the first word in a sentence. Also, there is no reason for two.'s; use one or three.
"And the big advantage Linux has over windows on the desktop is its improved stability. What is the point of unstable linux in the name of coolness?"
Because within 1 month it can be hacked into a rock solid system.
In the most recent issue of Dr. Dobb's it says that 2.96 is only marginally superior to 2.95.3 and 3.0.4 is far superior to both in the c++ arena

My domain is registared with Verisign but i got one of these through a registrar in Buffalo
The ruling will come back as people won't confuse their car windows with software, so using the same is name is a non-issue.
I think the generic is a windowing system, like the X Window System, or the ICE Window Manager, and not glass windows.
that should read ...included in the installer

Thanks anyway but I'm completely satisfied with the size of my penis.

The Slashdot editors should be jailed for crimes against english. If you are going to post stories at least do it correctly.
What about targeting it towards PBS stations? They have had some really funny stuff like Red Dwarf.

not quite .4->0.9.4.1*->0.9.5->0.9.7
M1->M2->M3->...->M15->M16->M17-& gt;0.6*->M18->0.7->0.8->0.8.1->0.9- >0.9.1->0.9.2->0.9.2.1*->0.9.3->0.9
*=Mozilla-Netscape branch, continuation of previous release branch but released after following version.
And there are still new features thrown in occasionally and 0.9.7 is alot more solid than 0.9
Neither of the Demos would run on my box with out crashing, and i paged through the READMe looking for a workaround but was unsucessful
