the http directory is different from the ftp directory. It is reccomended I think that you use the http since the ftp will already be loaded from all the people downloading RPMs already.
I already ugpraded using the ximian apt source! Just add this to your/etc/apt/sources.list:
deb http://spidermonkey.ximian.com/1.4beta1/distributi ons/debian unstable main
then you just apt-get update ; apt-get upgrade and you let it do its thing... restart X and BAM!
Last year was fun... but this year now that I have a booth in the.org section all the people that I wanted to possibly hang out with aren't even going including most of the loki (or former loki) staff. You guys just dont like new york?

This isn't so new... There is a zine around here all about weird places in NJ called... oddly enough weird nj. Check it out for all kinds of wacky stuff in the garden state. They also have road tours of the weird places sometimes and slideshows etc. Some spooky stuff, some just plain interesting.
Hey, is the item before this just a coicendence? A giant monolith appears in seattle and now they are testing xbox in the same area? What kind of weird alien happenings are going on... hmmm.... I think this needs to be further investigated.
I take that back, I dont want a link. I saw a picture of the kasbar in action and it just looked like windowmaker icons! I dont want square icons taking up my space. I want the taskbar seperate, and to have the option greyed out in an official release seems kinda silly.
Yes, it would be nice if you provided some kind of link or general direction in order to find this applet you speak of. Oh, and if this part of the code is not cleaned up, then why is it being released?:)
Hmm.. This country which was already stolen from the people who lived there. I really think you need to start thinking beyond borders. Some of those workers don't pay taxes but they miss out on a lot of things that you get. Just don't forget all the blood that was shed to steal this land you so proudly call your own. On second thought... is this just trollbait? If so, sorry for biting.
Hey!! Everyone is forgetting that thinkgeek.com has orielly books AND gift certificates. You can get yourself a book and some penguin mints or whatever you please!
if anyone has gotten more flack its kde and qt... kde insulting gnome programmers? Heh, probably not even.000001% of the crap kde gets. The use of a program quite often is enough to make you forget the license for a bit.
"is reporting" means they heard from somebody
"will launch" means its vapor
"system of assuring a users geographical location," means you will get spam
" the startup is hoping to
succeed where its predecessor failed" means there will be an IPO and after they make money on that they will go bankrupt
First of all, the protocol that the clones use was created by AOL to be open. This is the same protocol the AIM that they released for linux not that long ago uses AFAIK. AOL has also begun to move buddy lists onto their server, probably using the same protocol since it already did this before. This allows people to access their buddy list anywhere. AOL should expect there to be clones anyway since they did publish very explicit documentation on the toc protocol. Now why was this posted I would like to know. Slashdot rumor mill? heh
My school uses AFS and because of it I can access the same home folder anywhere on the network as if it were on that machine, transparently. Isn't that what Unix is all about, transparency?:)
A year or so ago after that IM wars fiasco AOL dropped tik, the open source AIM client that it was developing. This is not the "first official" really. AOL just let tik drop off the face of the earth for a while but now development is back up and running (and the features are many) at tik.sourceforge.net. TiK is so expandable and able to be personalized but still easy to use due to it being written in tcl/tk. This also means the code for it is open because it is run from a script. Is AOL on crack? Why did they drop TiK for this thing?
For a site that is for a project part of GNOME it sure isn't pretty! Can't the spend a few minutes from coding and take a hint from pages like http://tigert.gimp.org and throw a few images up? hehe
I just think there is more to music than a thumping bass line... Ok, that was a bit trollish but I do not like most electronic music. I think your opinion about rock being dead is because you havent been exposed to rock that inst mainstream. Also, to keep yourself into one single genre is somewhat closed minded don't you think? You would think "geeks" of all people would be the ones who have a thirst for knowledge and explore all the different music routes.
When it comes to music, I have noticed that geeks arent too "with it." Now, I don't mean _all_ geeks, just the great bulk of them. The only real subset I have seeen them know about is electronic/industrial. If they don't listen to that, they tend to listen to more main stream punk, metal etc. I think this is a real shame. If you can't expand your musical horizons to explore the depth of music that is contained in the indie scene, then where is your thirst for knowledge? If you want to start somewhere, perhaps southern.com is a good place. They have info on lots of indie bands and whatever is hot in the indie scene. Just put in indie music when you do a web search and see what comes up. There is so much of this stuff out there, that I often find it silly that geeks aren't into it. Napster too generally does not contain many indie artists. If you want pop music, you can go to napster but people telling me to use napster to find something that fit my tastes just wont happen because I don't like mainstream music and despise corporate rock and have so for years. So, nuff said. If you wish to attack me, do so.
this is pretty much zipslack but now it supports ls120 drives... Ok, if you have one it would be nice, but must people don't. What I find an even better idea is the linuxcare bootable business card. Take a look here. You just burn this iso image to a cd and you have a bootable linux that would work on a lot more machines than an ls120 or even a zip disk because its on a CD! Seeing as this is based off tomsrbt and made for business card size CD's there is plenty of room to add your own extras if you arent new to linux. I am thinking about adding soundcard support and throwing some mp3 files on it;-)

You notice how you miss things when you don't sleep. I thought it said "Price gets a woody over napster." Just thought I would share.

I still cant find decent indie rock, avant garde, free jazz, etc. using napster
