That is precisely what I thought, kill a few and your support drops, kill enough an the town goes after you.
In the first version of Unreal there used to be NPCs that you could kill, but if you didn't then they would ( sometimes ) lead you to otherwise unreachable treasure
Pffft. Big earthquake and tsunami comes and fat Bubba runs around screaming, frothing at the mouth and preventing the emergency response teams from doing their jobs. All that would happen is that the army would call in a sniper or worse. At least the areas IQ would approve.
While you still need to be prepared with food, water, medical stockpiles (at least two weeks), survival in these situations depend on planning, co-operation and team work.
And for the record I live in Australia in an area where cyclones occur though I missed out on this years offerings.
Parents have a yap dog that fails the rat test (if you have to kneel to pat it - its a rat).
Every neighbor has a yap dog and most of their neighbors have one too.
As a consequence if anything untoward is happening every dog goes mental.
It is a bit annoying but the number of successful burglaries in that area for the last 20 years is zero.
The snake idea is not good. They seem to be thief magnets and if it becomes known that you have snakes then often your place is broken into and only the snakes stolen. Me and many of my fellow snake keepers have been forced to use other security methods.

In a seaside town in Australia they used to have analog clock - style traffic controls for pedestrian crossings (and maybe a few intersections, my memory is a bit fuzzy), they had a loop of about sixty-seconds with a section green, a section amber and,of course, a section red. They were not that effective, too many drivers would speed up to 'beat" to light. However, if we combined them with red light cameras and effective sanctions maybe they might work.
Oh and down here a stop sign is also a giveway (yield) sign, in fact a rolling car always has right of way over a stationary one
My Sony Ericsson Xperria come with five pages of preinstalled software ( from the Australian Carrier OPTUS) that can not be removed by the sucker - sorry - end-user. About half a page is use-full and the rest is either crap or designed to increase your phone bill ( why would I view youtube on the phone when I have a PC with twin 23-inch screens). Rooting the phone hass been on my todo list for a while ( if you forgive the pun). Thanks OP, looks like tonights the night.

My wife, a flipino, says exactly the same about her home country

Somehow I don't think the campaign slogan "VOTE FOR ME - And I'll stick a nuclear power plant in your area" will catch on
POTUS?
