  1. Re:They're outselling them? on How Wii Is Creaming the Competition · · Score: 1
    According to Wikipedia:

The Mariners failed to register a winning record until 1991, and, despite several playoff appearances in the late 1990s and early 2000s and tying the 1906 Chicago Cubs for an all-time-record 116 wins in 2001, they remain one of just five MLB teams never to have played in a World Series.

Thus, my point stands, you can dismiss this as a good assess :-)

I immediately thought about Gunpei Yokoi, who fell in disgrace after developing the Virtual Boy. The portable market is tough.

Nintendo is a game maker. They develop software and hardware, and contrary to Microsoft or Sony, all their main assesses are related to games. They are also a Japanese company, which apparently makes them conservative to a great extent. Nintendo raises its forecasts several times through the year because they started with very conservative figures. Two years after the introduction of the Nintendo DS, already a year since the introduction of the Nintendo DS Lite handheld, and they are still struggling to to produce them. During March 2007, they sold 508,000 DS and 259,000 Wiis in US, and 504,000 DS and 263,000 Wiis in Japan. That is, a million DSs and half a million Wiis in just two countries.

I tend to think it is a production issue. They gambled by designing and developing the Nintendo DS and the Wii. I hope they gamble again and pump production up.

Agreeing with this comment. Many of the investigations that are done at [[WP:ABUSE]] are from elementary schools. And from time to time the administrators of the school networks, when a complain is raised, just tell us to block write access for their networks.

Apparently they made peace. Maybe the positive fan reaction (at least from what one can see at NeoGAF and other gaming forums) made them realize that fans were desperate for good news and that the leak, while getting comments about Sony stealing Nintendo's Miis and Microsoft's Achievements, it was welcomed.

In another note, I wonder what kind of avatars they will be using. After all, in a recent interview with Newsweek's N'Gai, Phil Harrison stated that

I think it's a really great idea. I think the lo-fi execution is not for everyone.
    and

If you are going to have an avatar which is your representative in a virtual world, it has to stand for more of your personality than some 2-D cartoons. So while I think that millions of people would be happy with cartoony looks, the planet at large probably isn't. And it's an experiment that will be played out very soon, actually.

Some friends are trying to port Allegro, an amateur gaming library, to DS. I should be helping them as soon as I get the homebrew tools. You can use libnds (see general instructions for installing here). Unfortunately, Nintendo does not sell their SDK to single users, only to companies with a determined profile. You can learn more at Nintendo Software Development Support Group.

Since I am an active contributor to the Wikipedia pages of Dragonlance, imagine how excited I am that, after so long, there are real news about this vaporfilm. Hopefully I will be able to watch it before I am too old to remember the series. At this point, I don't care who is helping with the voices, I just want to watch it! Shamefully, I guess I must thank Harry Potter for giving producers an excuse to continue with this project.

Personally, although the Chronicles trilogy is good, and the Legends trilogy is better, the Kingpriest is the best ever written, followed by the Ergoth one. As for novels, Spirit of the Wind and The Soulforge are very high in my list.

This is completely false. Microsoft created the trimmed down version of Win2k for the Xbox exclusively. They never made any such offer to Nintendo or Sony.

According to a book titled Smartbomb, Microsoft did offer to Sony an alliance to control the living room. You can read more here.
