    I believe it has to do with Phi, or the golden circle ratio - it's part of what "proportions" are most pleasing to humans. We don't like the middle of a set of numbers, we don't like the ends.

    One of my teachers demonstrated this once, by drawing a line on a piece of paper. He asked us all to mark along the line wherever we wanted, and most of the marks were like this:

    Stupid cocking lameness filter. Well suffice it to say the marks were usually about 70% along the length of the line, or 30%. Never 50%,0,100...

    Semantics - a pre-mix box could be "pre-mixed" ie, already mixed. Post mix - it's mixed AFTER the delivery. Kinda makes some sense both ways round...

    I think he means "seen" in the same manner as "observed" or "recorded".

    Anyone doing this in FreeBSD? I have it (kind of) working, using atacontrol detach / attach before removing or inserting a drive. Works with regular filesystems, but I want to use vinum - the logical volume manager. As soon as vinum touches the replaced drive, it panics.

    What are people using for volume management on FreeBSD anyway? I really wish a Linux-like LVM was available.

    5.0 is full of loads of features, and is considered "cutting edge".

    4.x are "stable" and mature. Think of it like the difference between Linux kernels 2.4.x (stable) vs 2.5.x (current). Not quite a true analogy but you get the idea.

    Reminds me of that time I asked a Windows "consultant" to walk over to our Linux firewall and log on a root. He just walked over to it and hit Ctrl - Alt - Del ! Couldn't believe it! Of course it rebooted and came up fine :)

    It's always struck me as fairly amusing that the first thing you do when you walk up to an NT box is to reboot it ;)

    Surely if you have the GPS coordinates then you don't need the clues? Or do they just get you within a few hundred meters of the cache and you have to work out the rest for yourself?
