I don't know if anyone even in Europe know how big 3G will be, or how miserably it will fail. Personally, I see WLAN ISPs as a major threat to UMTS, since the technology WLAN uses is already "ready" and not just hot air.
Some people don't use GNU/Linux because "Windows sucks" and not because "it's more stable" but because it is free software for free people. As I see it, this should also be the primary reason for anyone to use GNU/Linux; after all, we have seen what proprietary software has given us so far and what chains.NET it will force us in the future.
You claim that Outlook Express is free, but it's only true if you don't value your freedom. To me, and many of the people designing Evolution, freedom is more valuable than extra functionality.
Hmm, wouldn't it still be possible for proprietary software makers to design their own implementation as long as they didn't use this hypothetical code, even if it is GPL'd? So if the format is good enough, they might adopt it anyway.
You don't understand that in order to have freedom and not anarchy, everyone needs to give away certain rights: for example, the right to hurt other people. The GPL is a means to do just that.
BTW, this is a pretty basic topic in political philosophy, eg. Jean-Jacques Rousseau expressed his views on it in his work "The Social Contract".
I think some of them are in fact undoable, but some are not. I guess it is the plugin author's responsibility to implement undoability, but you're right: it really should be done outside of the plugin code and in the main app. I hope this'll happen in the future.
If you want to get yourself buried with the details as much as you seem, Linux really does not need an IRC client. I mean, my kernel is pretty fine as it is without any extra cruft like that.
It says that source is not available yet, and then gets more obscure: it says that source may not be available ever. If I am correct, this is not a violation yet, but they should release the source as quickly as they can.
Yeah, I agree. These bastards should know that if you want to be successful, no sissy girl freedom stuff ain't gonna help. You've got to take the same path as Nero, Attila or Microsoft, if you really want to rid consumers of their belongings.:-)
This stuff has been on the news in Finland too, a while back. It seems the police always wants more control and more money to use that control. Well, at least we have encryption - for now.
If your gestures represent your actual opinions, is it bad that others see how you feel about things? Personally, I'm tired of pretending. I want people to like me or don't like me for who I am, not who I pretend to be.
I don't like having to compress or rename mp3s just to get them on the site. Could there be a workaround eg. with javascript, by renaming the file when a download is requested?
That's not cool. Sounds just like the trick those major companies have pulled with broadband net connections, delaying their availability to the masses as long as possible... it's more profitable to let the normal people suffer a few years than to instantly provide a service they can afford. Well, then I guess I just have to wait.
Sounds awesome. How much it costs to send or receive a megabyte, for example? The GSM operators here in Finland haven't yet announced any pricing information for GPRS.
Well, if GPRS is dominant by the end of next year and 9210 is not even available, it will last only a year. That is hardly an adequate life for any product.
And what about dominance? GPRS is clearly a better service than HSCSD by any standards, and it's supposed to be cheaper too. So if you're buying a new phone, this phone is not the one you're looking for. If you already own a HSCSD phone, you may not want to go the GPRS way, but for a new phone, it's a must.
And did you know that many network already have GPRS capabilities ready? They're just not activated yet because there are no phones with support.

What do you mean by "Nokia"? What model?

To add some extra creepiness, it could well be... you guessed it, Windows.

I just have one question: do schizophrenics need to buy every book and cd twice?

It could be said that this is the same to the graphics chip industry as Microsoft's attempt to buy Netscape would have been to browsers.
I think most activities in which human beings engage could be described as email since the brain works by electricity. :-)

This is something everyone should read.
I'll just copyright the bug in my cerebral software that always makes me bash Microsoft products.

I've got the idea that many sites do in fact use Java, but they don't use applets. The only Java they use is in the backend, eg. servlets.
I think he means that other countries are like Elbonia.
Just fifty bucks for a computer? Hell, I'd buy that even if it didn't work. :-)
