This is the silliest comment I've read yet about elections: when I vote for my city's mayor, it's not on the same time and date as when I vote for my MPP/Premier,or MP/Prime Minister, or other higher office. Why the hell would it?

You make it sound like no one else in the world votes for other local offices!

Incorrect. It was always "Episode IV", as a nod to the old serials Lucas loved as a kid (and was supposed to make the audience feel like they were dropped in the middle of something). The subtitle "A New Hope" was added for re-release prints when "Empire Strikes Back" was confirmed for production.

Right, so stick with the old version like I do. I run Photoshop 7 on a MacBook Pro under Rosetta's emulation, and nothing I've seen in the years since it was rebranded to CS/CS2/CS3 has convinced me that I need to upgrade.

Dude! I did that in my PCjr! Had that thing maxed out to 640k (used to run Infocom games by copying the whole floppy info to a RAM disk, then using the floppy only for the save games; ran hell of a lot faster, let me tell you), added the NEC chip after a few years. Had that thing as my main computer for 7 years, at which point I got a used 20MHz 386SX.

However, this is a poor and ugly hack compared to the "keyboardability" of Windows.

Oh, no argument from me there. Windows was really primarily designed to offer mouse-less use, going waaay back to the earliest days. The Mac was always primarily mouse-driven, and shows it.

There are hardcore fans out there who'll be satisfied with nothing less than a word-for-word, line-for-line, scene-for-scene recreation of the comic book.

Right, so screw 'em, they'll never be happy with anything that doesn't match what they've built up in their heads. They can exercise their freedom of choice and not go. I didn't like the new Star Wars flicks, but I chose to see them for myself and formed my opinion afterwords.

Apple, for absolutely no fucking reason, won't let you navigate many things with the keyboard in their OS that Windows will.

To that end, you can turn on "Full Keyboard Access" and navigate to your heart's content.

Now, will someone please tell me why in 2008 there's no Windows keyboard shortcut (like the Mac's Command-N (in pre-OS X) or Command-Shift-N) for a new folder?

And, no, navigating file menus with the keyboard does NOT count.
