    As if that single juror can't make such a difference in the system you seem to like.

    First of all, in civilised countries man shall not decide over life or death, that's left to God.
    Secondly, in civilised countries life cases will be decided by a court, not a single judge.

    Go learn about the application of justice in different and respected systems outside of your county.

    Indeed, when I'd ever be faced with the choice I would decline a jury trial.

    I want my cases, pro or con, to be decided according to the legal criteria, not the personal hysteria of some 'peer'.

    Application of law is complicated enough, it doesn't need meddling by a bunch of lay persons specifically selected for their ignorance on the subject.

    Hmm, last month my ADSL of 16Mb was upgraded to VDSL with 32Mb, I must be missing out on something :)

    Yes I know it's all DSL but because it's UPC the cable provider's 120Mb is out of the question.

    That's where European privacy law comes in, your details are inalienable yours and when you recall them they'll have to obey.

    At the same time those having a copy of your info cannot use it beyond what it was originally intended for.

    Silly things like going bust and handing over the info to a third party can only happen under the original conditions.

    That's why international companies with databases holding personal info doing business in Europe have to sign Safe Harbor contracts.

    If the US had any moral standing on human rights it would never have allowed Israel to continue building settlements on the West Bank.

    But then since at least Gitmo we knew the US does not support human rights one way ore the other.

    I support the idea of handing ICANN over to the United Nations, as divided as they are we will by design be assured of a neutral net.

    DST is good for all those enjoying that extra hour of daylight after work and, like me, don't get up early enough to notice the sun seems to rise an hour later.

    Having DST in winter is useless because of that later rise of the sun, around my place it'd mean the sun would only rise around 10 o'clock.

    When I hear about the health issues of some it makes me wonder how they cope with a night out in town...

    I just installed a 7340, the 'light' version of the 7390 as offered by my ISP.

    There's a build in wizard that helps you with 2 or 3 clicks through the settings and it's up and running :)

    The past several months there have been quite a few problems with this modem's firmware and that's why I waited before changing out the 7170, things look OK now.
    But my main reasons to get it was for it's VDSL and the build in DECT base station.

    Oh I know what a quota is, I have 500MB on the shell server.

    Quotas are just disk space and my argument is as valid, when disk space gets cheaper quotas can be expanded.

    Convicted criminals, yes. The moral problem with that would be... what exactly?

    When you have to ask you have a problem with morality.

    Except for self defence one human should not take another humans god given life, period.
    You may have to protect society against criminals and lock them up but taking their life is simply institutionalised murder.

    The vast majority of users who's hard drive free space is going to be used up by the browsers cache should have cleaned out their disk long ago.

    In this third millennium it's a non issue.

    The question is primarily a proof of stupidity on the side of the Facebook user.

    First, when you uploaded it you must have had the original, why didn't you save it?
    Second, contact Facebook as an advertiser and/or marketeer and they will hand you anything you want (for a price).
    Third, ask your favourite 3- or 4 letter agency for info on terrist X...

    And lastly, when you wake up from the stupor that made you place all that personal info on Facebook you will find it's impossible to remove what got out on the net :(

    It's up to the individual employee to associate with a union that's essentially screwing his employer and thus the future of his job.

    It's up to the employer to stand tall and resist any silly requests from such a union and instead make a good contract with a responsible union.

    In general employers have a great deal more buying power in the legal arena and it's only just that employees can unionise to level the playing field.

    In this respect contacting your union is part of your job and should not be frustrated by the employer.
