I agree that Quicktime is terrible. Every time I install it, it blathers about wanting to know what kind of internet connection I have. Then, it goes and configures itself as the viewer for PNGs and JPEGs in my web browsers (even Opera!). My web browsers could view PNGs and JPEGs just fine without Quicktime. Then as I uninstall it, I just get a mess of broken mime-application associations. Blegh.
Itunes is like everything you hate about quicktime plus some other stuff.
The point is that EOLAS did win. EOLAS is due to receive over $5 million.
Wake up and get some perspective on how much money microsoft actually has. They could pay EOLAS $5 Million a year for the next 100 years and not even miss that kind of money. Please inform yourself before jiving us with your pronouncements.
At $2.50 a game for old atari games, I'll admit I'm a pirate. Considering that all 12 games you bought would probably fit on 1 floppy disk, you basically paid $35 for < of 30 year old gaming.
What's the point of suing the richest company in the world.. You aren't going to win. At best they are just going to buy you out, and if they do that, they'll probably do it in such a way that you won't make any money out of the deal.
I'd negotiate specific goals in exchange for a yearly salarly of say $50,000 to be paid out bi-weekly or something. Without knowing what the specific project is and the user base etc it would be impossible to give you a specific amount to ask for, but being salaried would probably be easiest since you are a student and will be working in bursts.
Just because he gave them permission to use it in 2002 as a marketing tool for caldera linux, it find it hard to believe that permission allows them to modify it and use it now.
One important thing to remember about netcraft stats is that they are basically percentages, it doesn't necessarily mean that there are less linux servers or that people are switching from linux to windows, it just means that overall, there are more servers running windows than there was before. This includes all of the casual webservers that people with dsl or cable are running.
Someone needs to talk to Eric Levenez and ask him if he thinks modifying his original work and using it to extort money from people is considered a non-commercial purpose.
A friend of mine sent me this mind-boggling link, which is also supposed to support SCO's claim.
Well.. that is pretty convincing seeing how they took a normal unix history map and added in a bunch of brightly colored dots and lines to represent the fact that they own it all.
I certainly hope that chart comes up at trial when people point out that SCO has been lying outright to it's shareholders..
Last I heard, federal laws trump state courts. It'll interesting to see how this works out. Where were the state courts when shitty federal laws like patriot act were passed?
Can someone explain why this is exciting? It looks like hardware that run's linux from the pictures. Isn't the whole idea of the Amiga to run Amiga software on Amiga hardware so that it is better at the tasks it's designed for? This could be a pc motherboard and processor for all you'd care.. It'd still run linux and kde just fine.
Comparing languages to car types is just plain stupid.. I don't care if you are Philip Greenspun, you lose a lot of credibility in my book for saying something dumbass like that.
Saying java is like an suv doesn't make any sense, especially if you don't provide any other comparable metaphores for other languages.
If you mean that java is big and has a lot of features, just come out and say it.
Luckily primestar dishes aren't that hard to find considering that when dish network bought them out, they installed new dishes for everyone often times leaving the old one installed or in the yard of the house where they did the installation.
those kids that type on there cell phones seem to be pretty proficient at it, especially with the newer ones that guess what you are typing so you don't need to always press the number down 3 or 4 times to get the letter you want.. It would work well for chatting and such, but it may be harder for more serious programming work.
Oh no.. you posted a story about hand problems.. now that guy that sued mattel because they wouldn't pay for his bogus accupuncture and trip to china is going to be ranting and raving again..
Once I got the program to actually run, it worked pretty well.. i have dsl so i can't really speak for modem people, but this doesn't really use that much bandwidth and manages to sound a lot better than other programs that do the same thing.
What would it take to reunite the beatles.. a few more bullets..
Some how I think Apple the cute computer company can just outwait the beatles lawsuit.. there is only a couple of them left.. Apple computers could probably buy Apple Music anyway..
morrowwind is pretty good if you are wanting a game that will let you wander off the linear path so to speak.. the only problem is that it is really easy to make it so that you can't complete the linear main quest that is built into the game.. luckily once you kill one of the main guys which would end the linearality, it warns you and lets you undo the move if you want..
This could lead to the same kind of subnet-blocking that Something Awful [somethingawful.com] was the victim of... all of their email being blocked by anyone using really nasty spam filters that had worse manners than the spammers in the first place.
No, you just felt like bringing up the somethingawful problem, it has nothing to do with this story at all. Banning the sending of spam and banning the harvesting of emails could in no way lead to the same kind of subnet-blocking that Something Awful was the victim of... all of their email being blocked by anyone using really nasty spam filters that had worse manners than the spammers in the first place.

Outgoing callID isn't/can't be blocked on calls to 1800 numbers, nice thought though.

For a business environment that is already going with a domino network, sametime is great.

"Fifty million Americans can't be wrong."
Now if they'd just decriminalize filesharing using the same logic.

There is; it runs MacOS 9/X without the need for an actual Mac ROM.
But can it run without the actually PPC architecture?

Plan B generally pretty much SUCKS, and will inevitably require more time/effort/money to implement and maintain.
Why does plan b suck? its sounds rediculously easy to me.. it would seem like it could be written in less than a 200 lines or code..

I remember making putty using nearly the exact same recipe when I was in HS Chemistry several years ago.
