And let's put some things into perspective: XP Pro is $300. Jaguar is $130. RedHat is $40 (or $150 for the de-luxe version.) So why is XP $300? Because they can get away with it.
That's not really a fair comparison considering an OEM version of XP is $100 and any version of MacOS is basically an OEM version seeing as you have to pay the apple hardware tax to run it, with that in mind, Apple is basically charging more for an equivilent product. And RedHat is free for anyone who doesn't want to pay extra for media and packaging and minimal tech support so it doesn't even compare.
I understood that a significant number of German speaking internet-users use 'ss' instead of the 'spassbe' (sp?) character so as not to confuse computers without an extended character set.
No, they do it because the ess zet (scharfes s)
is offically depricated and is only supposed to be used for those handful of words where ss doesn't convey the same meaning. That and german youth are fairly americanized using our words and customs a lot of times.
As cool of a hack as this is, why bother to do a port to a cellphone. Surely they could have gotten better performance by doing new coding to simulate the same game play. Thats the reason games aren't ported to ti calculators, they are rewritten clones of the original games.
Actually, whats even scarier than the computer monitoring is the SEVIS requirements in the patriot act which require universities to be able to communicate with federal computers so the feds can track foreign students to be sure their visa's are valid. Presently they just require schools to enter the necessary information by hand, but the full plan calls for the feds to be able to interact with and get whatever student information they believe they are entitled to from the universities' computer systems.
I believe libraries have a way around this though if they don't keep your borrowing habits stored any where. If they have this infomation, they have to turn it over, but I don't believe they have to keep this information at all if they don't want to. I know the library here is attempting to do that. Its easier to just not keep track of such information, than it is to try and provide it and deal with constitutional rights issues. IANAL(ibrarian) though.
Plexiglass is actually better for case windows since it's a harder, and therefore more scratch resistant substance.
Somehow I doubt plexiglass is good for a computer considering the amount of static that stuff has. The plastic wrap you see on it isn't wrapped around it, its held on each side due to static cling.
Or they could emulate the addons for IE and the newer versions of IE and allow you to type any user assigned letter and then your search string such as 'g searchstring'
haha.. have you honestly not heard about jabber before? Do you expect links everytime someone mentions msn or yahoo messenger? If you can click a link to find out, you can type in jabber.org in a webbrowser and find out too..
For a long time you could log into aim using your ICQ # and password, but you couldn't ICQ people, and I think lately its been possible to even send people ICQ messages using aim.. It'll be nice once they finally finish the transformation and make it so many people can use one less client.
While Galeon very well may, Mozilla does not have an up button. However there is a feature request [mozilla.org] for one open in the bug tracking system. If you want it too, help fix it or at least vote for it [mozilla.org]!
There has been an up bottom for quite a while.. perhaps you just didn't recognize it or something.
How could it possibly be considered private if it was accessable by url?
Well, your house is accessable by simply moving some little pieces of metal in the lock tumbler that are clearly accessable from the outside.
So by that logic, I guess the contents of your house are public.
Thats why you're stupid. Publically accessible webservers have one purpose, to publically give out documents. If you don't want something to be publically accessible, you don't put it on your webserver. House and store analogies are just stupid. Reuters asked their webserver for a document and they received it. There is nothing illegal or fishy there.
If I were the one that hacked his inbox, I think I would have sent emails to all of his followers telling them to kill themselves.. or maybe I just would have taunted the rest of the world with email riddles and chain letters.

Science, religion. What's the difference?
No much if you consider the fact that both have interesting theories on how we came about from nothing..
Religion - A Higher Being created us.
Science - A huge bang in the empty spewed out everything that would eventually evolve into us.
heh.. wish i had mod points for the jean auel reference..
if you'd click the link mentioned in the original post, you'd realize its blatantly obvious when you are on an entangled page.
I wonder how many comments will get posted here before Apple cease and desists them.
I remember when altavista used to be the best, but then some where along the line, they apparently decided to stop indexing new pages or something.
So you buy the hardware now, but then you get the OS in early 2003 assuming it's released on schedule?

Barney told him "down in front, and he replied 'NEIN!'".
wouldn't be the currect usage then?
Hey you in front of me, get down.
No.

3rd party contract enforcement. That sounds great.. if you are in the internet mafia.
what does that have to do with bayesian mail filtering?

So is this like one single wire all those miles long, or can they splice some more on? It'd seem like a good storm could break it once and a while.
Yes, but wouldn't the added benefit of not having your entire property slide into the ocean give you a legitimate claim against the frogs?

It'll now be up to organizations like ICANNWatch to keep an eye on ICANN for the public. Is that good enough?'
Obviously not.

Some girls look sexy, some sound sexy, and some type sexy.
Unfortunately, the ones that type sexy often don't look or sound sexy in real life. And often times, they aren't even girls in real life.
