    Why is it more pronounced in some areas? There is only one ocean.... A rise in the pacific ocean will raise the level of all other "oceans". Could it be that some land masses are sinking? An 3-4" rise over the next 100 years is unlikely to impact anyone currently alive and living in the Bay Area . Wake me up when ocean front property stops going up in value.

    Besides their "triple play" $99 deal that goes up to $150 over 3 years, I haven't seen a lot of pricing games from ComCast. Pretty sure Granny isn't going to sign up for business class internet. If she does, she pays an extra $50 and does really well on FPS games.

    If you're using the service more, you should expect to pay more. Otherwise, the little guys end up subsidizing your bandwidth hogging ways... rather than the other way around, where the big data guys pay more, and the little data using guys pay less. You expect that with almost every known business transaction.... get off your wallet and pay the extra cash for a business account... (I have Comcast business level internet for an extra $50/mo and I have 30Mbps upload... a terrific deal that I don't expect the little lady down the street to subsidize.)

    I never read books anymore... I spend too much time in front of a computer reading code and everything else.. that the last thing I want to do is strain my eyes on an ebook.

    But I listen to about 2-3 great books a month with audible.com. Expensive... and worth it.

    Many crimes ARE committed by different races in unequal percentages. Facts are not assumptions. The gist is this would impact unlicensed, uninsured, undocumented and the poor harder than other groups.

    Using phone apps that do much more make more sense than trying to scan a room full of faces trying to detect the difference between constipation and consternation.. Students can run an iPhone/Android app that let students answer questions from their instructors... the quiz results can be used to get immediate feedback on the learning process..

    If a crook has to say, "Oh, by the way, don't unjailbreak it", that's as good as saying its stolen. Most people don't want to knowingly buy and walk around with stolen gear that includes a GPS transceiver. It would also be possible for a cell phone company to write a unique serial number into the (non-flashable) ROM.. Which could be passed to the carrier with each phone call. Doesn't seem like magic.

    The cool part will be the GPS location of the stolen phone... even if the user tries to wipe it... Even if jailbroken, if a call is made with a stolen phone, it should be easy to tell its stolen. This should lead to craigslist postings where it says, iPod Touch for sale, do not attach to iTunes, do not update the firmware, and do not attempt to use the phone.

    If you enjoy programming and computers, don't let poor math skills stop you from doing what you like. I sucked at calculus and do very well as a programmer. Logic is the more important skill.
