    do it yer self.
    write a scirpt or 2 that grab what you want from your fav webpages and have them add the information to your sync cue. im sure there are plenty ways of doing it. im you may even be able to hack a current system in to doing. try a proxy/cache and scipts.

    well its my bandwidth and i will do with it what i wish. Download music, ISOs, or movies, slashdot, etc... what do you care. and many of the artist these 'net radio' broadcast a) are not signed at all b) maybe on with some indy lable and you just cant go buy their cds. how else are they to get exposures other than opening for other small time bans?

    There are lots of good internet raido broadcasts and broadcasters. Im listinging to my favorite one right now and hes gonna have to take his stream off line soon because of these money grubbing bastard companys.

    This saddens me. the whole RIAA/MPAA/DMCA stuff just pisses me off. i think im gonna move to another country this is all such BS.

    CRT monitors have been "sniffed" with a special raido setup that allows whats ont he screen to be reconstructed. This is part of the reason antialasing fonts have be come popular because it make the text blury too the sniffers.

    Ive been online for around 8 years now. And now there are many many new people coming online all the time. Many of whom have prolly never heard of usenet/gopher/telnet/IRC etc... makes me feel kinda old, in the online sence. anyone else feel this way?

    I still wouldnt.
    Nitrogen is quite expensive. is it really worth it to gain a few hundred MHz if the same affect can be made with a good watercooled setup?

    water cooling is safer. for you and the computer.
    no special handeling, if you run low or spring a leak or evaportaion becomes an issue just grab a glass from the sink. Nitrogen well not quite.

    you can also use inert (nonconductive) fluids, still slightly expensive but once again safer. and easyer to handle. You can just submerse your entire system in the fluid. And you wont need fans so it could also prove to be a silent or near silent machine depending on what kind of pump/liquid used etc....

    if you have the money to burn on nitrogen have a great time. but you could put it towards a nice system with one of the other cooling methods.

    Im sure there are a few out there. The problem is there havent been any major releases (that i recall) in 2002. There is a good chance many of the features will be supported but maybe not all. So buy your laptop hopefuly of high quality and reputable brand, Dell, Sony, toshiba, HP, etc... and wait, and check for drivers, updates every so often. The next Major release of your favorite dist. should cover things.

    i think you live next to my friend. i thought for second you may live next to me but i rembered i changed my password at least...

    i dont use wep beacuse will im pretty sure im the only one on my block with cable and a wireless setup. and what do i care if someone decideds they wanna use my connection to download pr0n?

    now and then i will run ethereal on my laptop with wireless card see whats going on and i never see anything other than my machines.

    I have cable. As do most of my friends. Now and then one of us goes down. One of them was down for like 4ish days and couldnt get a service guy out there for like 11 days and broke down and got a dial up service for a month (think he used some free aol hours, guess they are good for something).

    Anyways we pay 50ish a month get our down time and deal with it. Only calling to bitch when its down. Now that excite@home is gone reliablity has gottne better.

    But if you NEED the connectivty pay for it and write it off on taxes.

    I dont know to what extent they are inplace or how they are applied as i dont live there and their laws dont really affect me.

    I my self was collecting unemployment from september til mid december. And remaind jobless up until just this week. I stoped collecting because i figured it would help modivate me. ive been living off left over x-mas and birthday money.

    But i have been orderd to repay my unemployment bennifits of 2,020. When i was actively searching for work. So im in the process of appealing that.

    But leave it the government to give you a helping hand and then knock you ass back down. When you decide to try and help your self.

    I have a 333 k6-2 at 231 with just a heat sink in my mp3 playing machine. i left the power supply fan alone just to keep some kind of air flow in the box. It gets warm but not too warm ive never had problems with it.

    Im sure you could run your 1.8 ghz at 900mhz with no issues other than less performace because of the lowered clock speed but thats already expected. you may beable to get away with a 1Ghz or more depending on the quality of HS.

    if you need the speed or gonna over clock, water cooling is the way to go. but for your needs just find a nice HS.

    Years ago i was at a expo for well stuff and they had some one just skiing in there stationary but kept sking.

    It was basicaly a large carpet on a large coveigher belt making an endless loop of carpet.
    think huge treadmill that slops down and rolls upwards. i think it tilted side to side and up and down for vaitation in slope and whatnot. it was really kinda cool then.

    a large disk just doenst sound like a good idea.. the inner area of disk would prolly suffer much more wear and tear sinice it goes faster. not to mention the uneven speed across the surface of it.

    Ive seen a few small NT clusters at SupterComputing 99. so yes its possible. but im guessing its gonna take moremachine to get the same results as a linux cluster of the same kind due to all the over head in NT (gui and whatnot).

    I imagine 2k could be setup to be similar but why would you want to? again you have much more over head that an base install of linux which can be custom done to allow you put only what you want and need on saving space and resources.

    Linux is free do you really think MS is really just gonna give you licences for a cluster? what if it grows more money will have to be forked out for a licence for that mahcine.

    linux: cleaner, stabler, lighter. which probaly all makes the cluster faster. not to metnion cheaper
    M$ : bigger, costmore, requires better hardware in many cases.

    and dont fix it if it aint broken.

    I belive there is anti spy patch for windows XP.

    I just prefer not to run it. Im perfectly happy with RedHat7.2 and Win2k. both pretty solid and lack spy ware, well win 2k for the most part but i only have meida player 7.(something... 1?).

    even in 2k i dont have audio CDs play with media player i just rip them with music match then upload them to my mp3player/storage machine. and well 7.1 doesnt play dvds anyways....

    XP=Spyware all together.. they know your hardware they know your music they know your movies. they may even know your shoe size and if you ware boxers or briefs, and for you laids they may know your bra size.

    Lets all just start shout casting our MP3 collections. really piss someone off... we can all be internet broadcasters weather is be 2bit stream of 160kbs stream we can do it and prolly makes some waves when RIAA and company realize they cant do anything or much about it. put them against the world not lilguys vs the big bad RIAA.

    Because your array was in hardware raid you may need to replace the the controller card. It may just get picked back up as it was if the drives or data didnt sustain any dammage.

    use ghost or dd to back the contents of the drives up anyways incase the hardware solution has to re initialize the array from scratch.

    you maybe able to find a controller that will work with software that can help fix your problem but i wouldnt count on software raid doing it.

    shoulda used raid 0+1 maybe even 3 or 5
