    i talked to a beta tester of OS/2... he was old and he is retired now. but he siad it was alright just that it was too hardware dependent. that it didnt run as well on non ibm machines and was less stable.

    i know it still runs on many atms. but those will most likley phased out for embeded XP (which scares me).

    at $284.00 for a full version for OS/2 Warp 4 seems a little on the high side.

    but its on the endangered list. like BeOS, Amiga (which is tring to recover).

    I would love to try OS/2 but the problem is you cant find it or buy it anyplace. and nor do i want to pay for an OS that i would just play with to try it out.

    Maybe it should be released free as abandoned ware....

    you forgot the closet. ive herd theroy that the closet is another gateway to parralle universes. everytime you lose a sock you gain a cloths hanger in the closet. maybe if we put cloths hangers in the dryer we will get our socks back in the closet. if not we have a potential mess in the dryer.

    TCP/IP is cool and all for a GBA. but since its a strong arm processor why not port/figure out how to load linux on a cart? I think this is a very cool step in a good dir for GBA. if nintendo doesnt stomp it out 1st.

    the realism i am thinking/speaking of has nothing to do with the fact that nazis tring to raise the dead or there aliens are trying to take over the earth. im talking about the graphics the physics the enviroment. who wants to play a game based on 100% fact? not as many cause we play games to escape reality.

    samba 3 will work with Active Directory. and to a point samba does work with PDCs as it can be a SDC. check it out at samba.org.

    I find the realism of the games like return to castle wolfenstein and medal of honor much more engaging than doom and the orginal wolf 3d. If i looks good i find it more engaging than the story line but if it has a good story line to go with it im just hooked until i beat it. I think the realism is a good thing.

    im lucky to beable to read my own hand writing these days. having been using keyborads primarly for so long then the gaffiti on my palm has altered how i form some of my letters when i hand write. but i can type faster than i can write thats for sure and i dont plan on taking up pen and paper for everything to input something its just tooo slow.

    Depending on network equpiment you may beable to build some images that you send out via tftp at boot time that would do the trick. you just have to push the net boot button at the machine at boot time.

    I use tftp with ghost floppy images that automaticaly start the ghosting of machines at work all the time it works great. i just turn the box on wait a sec and hit n. walk away for 20 min and reboot and take care of ghostwalk stuff..

    RWs because well they may contain somthing outdated but can also be updated or use for something else and still used as an optional coaster if need be.

    This will also allow them to put any notes or applications writtin around the book to be stored near by and with relavence....

    Maybe put a copy of the book on the cd. sometimes when i most need the book it is at home while im at a friends house or work. and its not uncommon for me to take CDs with me in my bag o-goodies.

    Nike makes a all rubberized mp3 player that could prolly be ok in the shower assuming you hang it keeping out of the stream of water. and find some all weather speakers to to use with it. or get one and keep it the bathroom and turn it up loud enough to hear it. and low enough to the ground where the steam shouldnt affect it as badly.

    Yeah lets see to trump google they deffiantly are gonna need some start up capitol and some extra features. google employs the largest cluster of machines to provided its sites and store its data base on what is most used to be terrabytes and may pettabytes by now. its gonna take some time.. if its not an April fools joke.

    Anyone that has been on the net for more than a year. Especialy those have been online for 6+ years can really tell you... it used to be fun and all kinds of crazy fun stuff all over. but now its all corprate and cost. the fun sites are few and far between compared to how it was years a go. Anyone else rember these days? when there were almost as many personal sits as company sites. and the personal sites were fun stuff not here is my resume and contact info.

    You can zip tie
    You can buy those velcrow thingys at the hardware store
    You can tape em down and toegether

    But what i find works rather well is basicaly a good shelfing/cabinate system preferably with a solid back with a 2-3 inch hole cut in for cableing.

    one componet per shelf. wich means roughly 2-3 cables comming out of it. 1 for power 1 for audio or other signal and for the dvd player maybe a seprate video cable. then comptuer goes next to your techno shelf and run what ever needs to hook to what from there.

    The holes will keep wires from running all over and you can keep them bundeled this way and for the most part going the same direction. and you can use zip ties and tape or what ever in conjuction with a shelf.

    Cause i dont want to pack a real radio in to work. nor do i want to start packing CDs into work. and i dont have time at work to be looking for MP3s. Shoutcast is all i got in my boring day of cube life. thank god its only part time.

    treat it with respect and baby the hell out of it... its ok for the 1st few weeks or months depening on how much you use it install etc... but if you need multi monitors on a laptop thats one of the few ways to go... it worked on mine but still trying to get 2k to doit and no clue to to get linux to do it.

    With a full redhat dist/port to ps2 think of the cheap server farms 500$ gets you the linux kit and ps2 with 40 gigs of hard drive and 100/10 network.

    Maybe a cluster of these. Wonder what kind of hacks are going to come of this. Its already a cool hack of sorts.

    Now i really gots to get me a PS2 not only for GTA3 but another linux box would be cool to have.

    I've had a ZIP drive for about 7 years now. Only had one disk go bad on me and im not sure that i was good to beign with. I only have 15 or so that isnt too bad.

    Backup medias are a tricky thing. CDs are great they last but are small.
    Harddives are great too but tend to get slightly expensive depending on how much you have to back up, if i was to back up i would have prolyl 20+ gigs of data to save. and i can hardly justify spending 60 for a harddisk that will only hold what i need to back up now. and im sure i will have to back more up later.
    Tapes well again with cost. Drive=XXX Media=XXX per-pop.

    Most Users would prolly be ok Just burning documents and etc... to a CD now and then. I recently backed up all my digital pictures to a CD (~300Megs-o-Data). And some website stuff to ZIP disk(~@20Megs-o-data)... Maybe a combination of backup medias is best for some. Can update the ZIP as often as nessary. and the pics when there are a signifigant number of new ones.
