Americans are taking energy policy in their own grease-stained hands."
How dare they??? I want government oversight of this dangerous endeavor immediately! I want it taxed, and regulated and I want government subsidies.
How dare people do things without asking for government permission!
They need to make sure that these vehicles can pass all the safety regulations. You know, to protect the children. Do it for the Children! Won't anyone think of the children????
OMG This is crazy. These people are Terrorists! They are out to destroy America! How dare they!
And don't forget Illegal Aliens. I know they are involved somewhere.
Just about our entire Federal Government (US) is built upon lying murdering assholes. I said it about Clinton, and I said it about Bush.
The last president I had respect for, as limited as it may have been, was Ronald "Tear Down This Wall" Reagan. That took balls. And the Asshats on the left hated it, because he was provoking Russia. Whatever.
We need the same kind of President now. I'll vote for the first Candidate that says "Mr Putin, Get the FSK out of Georgia".
Everyone is a hypocrite. Gore's excessive energy usage at his home is one. But many give him a pass, because he buys "green" energy (whatever that is), probably from his own company. And flies around in private jets that most of us can't afford.
There are hypocrites on every side. Only the truly blind can't recognize this.
It's hard to make fun of abortion supporters without looking like an ass doing it.
Or how about all the cracks about bombing Serbia and Aspirin factories to cover up a blowjob. You see that as a joke about blowjob, while others see it as a parody of substance.
You see, it is about perspective. And being neither (D) or (R), I can see the humor, and the substance on both sides.
And lets not talk about the parody that is Nancy Pillosi, which I find much more humorous than Craig's bathroom indiscretion, which itself is funnier than most.
What we need to do, is push for teaching and assessment (standardized tests) that challenge kids to think.
WHAT??? Are you kidding? How else would Obama and McCain vie for the presidency? WE cannot allow most people to think. We need to feed them Britney, Paris, McCain and Obama while the rest of us enslave them.
To me, being "green" is a goal we can never reach. The only thing we can reach for, is being "greener" than we are now. There is no hypocrisy in being "greener", however, there is all sorts of hypocrisy in claiming to be "green".
The whole Al Gore House vs Bush's house is proof. Al Gore still takes all sorts of energy to heat / cool, while the Bush's doesn't, though Al Gore claims his energy is "green", and Bush is evil Oil Man.
The official response to DOS is to Distribute content as widely as possible. They can't really censor things if others want the info spread. There are way too many tools available now to keep something censored.
We'll call this the Russian Correlation to The Streisand Effect from now on.
The point is, if a Green City is supported by Non-green cities, then it isn't really green. It is nothing more than the Wizard of OZ behind the curtain. I'm just pulling the curtain back so everyone can see it isn't really green.
Take for instance, all those "solar" panels that will be deployed. They weren't built by "green" factories.
I applaud making things "Greener" which is what is really being done here.
Nvidia has one option at this point, and that seems to be "go home". Unless they pull something out of their Arse, ATI/AMD and Intel/Intel is going to clean up.
Perhaps they can team up with VIA. The only other option for them is going to be embrace Open Source and build a OpenGL optimized chip, and help build OpenGL with the community.
FBI GUY: "This fingerprint has keyboard particles on it. Where do we go to find this ingenious perp. Not a trace of Girl to be found. Cheetos and Red Bull, and the faint dank traces of... basement mold."
Innocent Bystander (innocently eating Cheetos and Drinking a Red Bull): "Um, you guys realize that you just described 1/2 of Slashdot"
You speak of Government Regulations. Which is the bane of KISS.
Government isn't the solution, it is the problem. Less of it is better. In fact, I suggest to you that anytime you toss Government into the mix, it necessarily gets progressively worse as time goes by.
The problem is, too many jobs are defined by complex government regulations.
Keep Info Technology Simple. We tend to want to add in all the bells and whistles we "want" but don't "need" because we can.
When I build a system from scratch, it is fast, clean efficient. It has everything one of the user "needs" to do their job. It is fast, efficient and clean. And it doesn't have problems if they keep it that way.
But they start adding in all the add-ons, upgrades, multiple versions of the same basic tools. Google, Yahoo, Myspace, Coupon cutter, Weatherbug, Ding (SW Airlines) etc....
Then they start to complain about how "slow" and "Buggy" the computer is. All those bells and whistles do nothing but distract the user from doing what he OUGHT to be doing.
I see this within applications as well too. Feature creep is a real problem, as is trying to over simplify the front end, at the expense of the back end.
Take a look at the comparison of Vista and XP, there is NOTHING in Vista that is really "needed", but it is a bloated mess when compared to XP. why?
They don't want to KISS, they want "fancy", and fancy breaks, and is more expensive to fix when it does.
Yeah, lets replace a one dangerous but naturally occurring substance (oil) and replace it with man-made and potentially even more hazardous material (lead acid batteries).

Is society supposed to pay for McHeart Attack's quad bypass ? Or the Illegal Immigrant $500K cancer treatments? Or the $50 a day Aids treatments for the gay guy?
You think someone else is paying for all of this, don't you? Sorry, but it is you (and the rest of us).
And no thanks. Not unless they also pay for my red wine I drink for its health benefits.
By "Social Justice" you mean taking, by force if necessary, from people who have something, and giving it to people who don't.
I don't call that "Justice" in any sense of the word. Justice cannot be for pro for one group at the expense of another. The fact that majority wants it doesn't make it any less distasteful. That is Mob rule.
The worst thing about your brand of "Social Justice" has nothing to do with "equality" at all, or even justice. It is nothing more than "all people are equal, but some people are more equal than others"
Then the stockholders should be more careful investing in companies run by the same people who've driven companies into the ground.
Put the ethics back in Stock by making the stock owners require it of the board and officers of the company.
When all people look at is Profits, then that is all that matters. When profits are threatened by corporate death penalty for illegal and ethical problems, then ALL the stakeholders will pay attention to ethics. But not until then.
Web based computing for Terrorist (and other secretive types) and USB thumb Drives and Portable hard drives.
Why carry a laptop that can get stolen, when you can carry a HD full of all your stuff in a small inconspicuous package, and borrow a computer when you get here ???? Or even buy one when you get here????
Data is the most valuable part of a Laptop. If it isn't, then you're stupid for carrying around a $2000 device to hold $10 worth of data.
My perspective is skewed because my thumb and portable hard drives can boot Linux on just about any hardware out there. My computer is my drive.
Which makes the confiscation of the laptops all that much more silly.
He looks at one every day in the mirror. You are an asshat.
Its too bad that the profession of lawyering has such a bad reputation that the few good men, like Ray, are slimed by their evilness.
Too bad there isn't another term we could use for upstanding legal professionals like Ray, to distinguish them from common everyday evil lawyers.

You didn't. But many people only see hypocrisy on one side and not the other. Which makes them hypocritical. Its actually funny if you think about it.

No, not it, IT.

Simply put.
Most people are incapable of thinking outside their own little world. They are selfish and self centered.
Is society supposed to pay for McHeart Attack's quad bypass ? Or the Illegal Immigrant $500K cancer treatments? Or the $50 a day Aids treatments for the gay guy?

It is also $25 for a $10 prescription.
That's right, if you're not paying attention or your pharmacy is a whore and doesn't tell you, you pay $25 no matter what.
Bastards.

So the energy and oil crisis isn't pressing? Then let the Democrats explicitly say so, and give the (R) campaign fodder for the Nov elections.
I'm not defending the (R) either. They do the same sort of crap all the time too. I'm sick of both parties.
Vote Third Party in November.
