Of course, owning the inner solar system is not going anyplace practical until the round trip time can be cut back to a few months vs a few years. You can always store up stuff for a year or so. But after a while, it starts to add up.

Mathematicians have now come up with a rule for predicting the law of "anything that can go wrong, will go wrong". They say the formula allows people to calculate the chances of Murphy's law (or Sod's law as it is also know) - and to even try and beat the bad luck.

which are then mangled together through the online calculator. One presumes that an end result of ten is equal to a 100% chance of Murphie's Law coming into play.
Strangely enough, it is possible to get a score higher than 10 on the calculator.
The best and most extreme example of this is when all factors are rated as ten (Urgency, Importance, etc) except for the skill level, which is rated as 1. In this case, the end result is 40, which I presume to either indicate a 400% chance of Murphie's Law Striking, or a 100% chance that Murphie's Law will strike 4 times.

that the processor is running at 100% utilization all of the time. Similar to an automobile, are you getting maximum use out of it if you are red-lining it all day long? On the other hand, yes, you could get by with a 20 hp Model T in modern traffic, but it is very nice to have some acceleration under the hood.
Essentially, it seems that there should be enough power so that the software you are running is responsive to the degree that you do not experience the sensation of waiting idly while spell checking or whatever.
Of course, it is the job of the Giant Software Corporation to build software Giant enough to run on the most powerful computers, and still seem slow. Your milage may vary. Your treadmill awaits you.
Note to Microsoft (or anyone else storing milliseconds, for that matter): unsigned 64-bit int! Instead of having to reboot every 49.7 days, you'll have to reboot every 213,503,982,334 days, give or take a leap-second.

Cool, now all we need is to return to programming in Tube Logic. This is definitely not programing in Binary, because you can program logic conditions with varying values of "1". although you usually didn't

Netgear's new WGT634U Wireless Media Router has a little something extra that we expect will be standard on all of these things sooner or later: a USB 2.0 port for attaching an external hard drive that anyone on the network can access. Plus they've cut a deal with Western Digital (sort of like Linksys' arrangement with Maxtor) to hook people up with drives that can used with this thing, though almost any external drive will work (even a lot of those Flash keychain drives) and they've even prepared a list of which ones are compatible.

See this article, seems that car batteries are typically rated in hundreds of amp hours (100 to 500), so two or three might do the job.
