    I'm supposed to Beta test Windows OSes at work to find out if our own apps and development environments will be affected. Telling me to "just not use it then" is rediculous. I HAVE to be a Beta tester, and I don't have time or will to play games with Microsoft over what THEY think I need to be doing to help them.

    But I bet you want any problems that arise fixed in the next patch.

    ..possibly Sikhs, Zorastrians, Mandeans, Hindus, and Buddhists.

    Sikhs: nope..friction between Sikhism and Islam has rumbled along merrily for centuries (one Muslim student described Sikhism to me as a 'piss take of Islam', general consensus of the Sikhs I knew was 'the only good Muslim was a dead one'..)

    Hindus: not.a.bloody.chance. There was a general disdain of Hindu students by the Muslim students, this became outright open hostility towards Hindus on occasion by Pakistani and Central-North African Muslims (I had to break up fights).

    Zorastrians: Tricky one this, I knew several Zorastrians, but they kept themselves to themselves, so cannot comment on their interactions with the Muslim students (other than to point out again that they made themselves inconspicuous)

    Buddhists: See, the funny thing about not believing in any God as far as Islam is concerned is...The Muslim attitude I experienced ranged from total indifference from the liberals through to they're Kafir, kill with fire from the usual nutters.

    All the while claiming to be the religion of "peace".

    If his model says that Earth should not exist, then there's something wrong with his model.

    Also, considering how life thrives even in hostile environments here on Earth, it's simply a mathematical impossibility that there are no other planets in the universe capable of supporting some kind of life.

    Plus, didn't Mars used to be earth like way back when? So that would make 2.

    Look, I'm not going to take sides between you and Jhon on whether God is a dick or not.

    But Jhon is right about what "a human perspective" means. It distinguishes a perspective from a non-human perspective. Your attempt to make it mean one of a plural of human perspectives is just back-pedaling.

    Kid cancer aside, are you saying the the flood wouldn't be seen as a dick move by all of humanity? Or killing all the first born? Or any of his other massive atrocities?

    A reasonable God would communicate with men in terms they understood. "King" and "Lordship" were the terms humans used to relate to each other for a long time until recently.

    A lot of people like that trope you just keyed and repeat it quote often. The problem is that it misrepresents Christianity completely. In Christianity, one does not "love" God like one "loves" a person -- or a dog -- or a sandwich. It's not the same thing.

    So what, no one got sick before networks and if they did they were proper fucked. Is that what you're saying? And why do they need to be exposed to the wider internet anyway?

  16. Sure, but you realise how big the place is, and also how small our population is? We are a first world country with super high standards of living and a population density that is a fraction of your cities - none of which compare in liability in my opinion (and I actually loved living in NYC).

    Yeah but you pay over the odds for absolutely everything. Stuff in Australia seems to cost up to double what it does elsewhere and your gov seem especially fond of fucking you all over enough to put other governments to shame.

  18. I was under the impression that apple QA was 1) Does it do something we do? and 2) Is it pretty enough?. Arguably the first clause should've got this one but if its disguised a bit or in Chinese then no wonder it got past them.

  23. The other great part about this is ... its because people are cheaping out on a repair for a $650+ device. People are idiots. Buy a cheap repair, you deserve your phone bricked for stupidity.

    You are travelling and in some 3rd world location .

    The third world contry with enough power points to keep your phone charged all the time while travelling and has a bunch of iphone repair shops all over the place.

    It would be nice if he (and CEOs of other major tech firms) stated specific opposition to it.

    Why? He works for his own interest, not yours. His interest and your interest rarely (if ever) coincide. It's naive to think otherwise. The best way to deal with any corporation (and the hollowed out people who occupy "executive" positions) is to treat them as you would treat a psychopath: with profound distrust.

    He wants people to use his companies products, if people don't trust them they won't. There are planty of contenders who would love to see google fall to take their place. Hell, maybe bing might even get a shot /snigger.
