They killed Obi-Wan, who was the Protagonist's "Mentor" figure, at the end of A New Hope. In this one, they again kill off the Protagonist's Mentor Figure. That's not 'risky' at all.

We're talking about the fact that you can go through the original trilogy, and make a checklist of all the scenes which came to be considered "Iconic Star Wars", and they pretty much hit every point on that list in this movie.

If I'm trying to build a frobnicator and I'm getting hung up on some trivial little linker error, I could spend hours digging into the problem until I truly understand it, or I could check Stack Overflow and be on my way in 5 minutes.
