Packaged Hell, as we used to call them. You too can own your own little hell; how they could cram so much pain into such a small package defied belief.
You can boost QT's volume playback by a little over 100%, though. Just hold Shift + Command + up arrow and QT will just let you set the volume louder than 100%. If you change the volume slider, it'll jump back down. I think it's either 150% or 200%; I forget how high it goes.
Searching the 9/11 hijackers wouldn't have stopped them. It's not like they had their plans saved on their computers. Why do we accept this kind of crap whenever anyone says the magic words "9/11"? We don't even need to change the policy at the airport...people are going to beat down hijackers now, on their own.
They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Ben Franklin.
I don't have Google toolbar or anything like that installed. What I'm used to (and have configured my firefox to do) is to just type in certain names, like "google" (or "apple" or "slashdot", etc., but it's mostly google) in; when NXDOMAIN gets returned, the browser tries the www.***.com version automatically. It's annoying when the ISP hijacks it to their search page. My ISP (Charter) does it and has done it for a while (I noticed this immediately, since I'm always just typing in "google" and hitting return). So irritates me to no end. I use the infamous 4.2.2.x IP addresses as my DNS now.
You mean the Apple that paid Xerox for the rights AND then wrote from scratch the drawing routines (important parts that weren't even done on the Xerox PARC stuff, but the Apple people thought it was done)?
Plus I don't think I've seen a whole lot of 5.25" USB floppy drives; 3.5" USB floppy drives are much more common. I think one would have to scavenge a 3.5" USB floppy to use it with a 5.25" drive.
It'd probably be best to take the floppy drive out of the old computer if he needs to try to recreate install discs using a newer computer.
No it's not "owned" by Sony. Not any more than it's owned by Panasonic or Samsung. The license is handled through the BDA; the original group that started the BDA were Sony, Panasonic, Pioneer, Philips, Thomson, LG Electronics, Hitachi, Sharp, and Samsung. Sony is not the only one there; I know Panasonic and Samsung also have patents that are used by Blu-ray.
Toshiba was really standing mostly alone with HD-DVD; NEC also played a big part in HD-DVD.
Are you in Charter's Magical 60mbps area? If you spring for that (which is close to TW's max billing, except you get a 60/5 connection; $130-$140 a month), no caps. Their caps are 100 GB if you're at a 15mbps or lower connection and 250 GB if you're 15-25mbps connection. Which sucks for me because they don't offer anything faster than 10/1 for my area (even though neighborhoods fairly nearby have had 16/2 for the longest time and lots of areas are at the 20/2 speeds).

Divorce her and leave her the phone. That'll teach her.
I'd better go change the code on my luggage.

The one where people have actually watched the movie "Airplane!"
I wonder what they'll do when they search my 'unusable' Linux laptop.
See you in 30 days.
FTFA: CBP is authorized to keep an item or person in question for up to 30 days, although generally this is only if the subject is put into custody.

Women are evil.
That scene drove me crazy, because I swear I saw it and then I saw a few showings on TV and didn't see that scene at all.
But Aliens was a great film. It was just a completely different film than Alien. And that's okay.
Based on what they've done with the "next" since Aliens...no. I don't want to know what happens "next".
No offense.
None taken.

Eh? Photog is just short for photographer, as in one who takes photos.

I'm good at dodgeball. I also catch the ball well. Looks like I need to find this company, so I can take many afternoons off. :P
(no, I will dodge the wrench, not try to catch it)
My middle finger is royalty-free.
And Imation owns Memorex.

K-On fan, I presume. And it fits. ^_^
Viruses are left isolated and impotent, unable to execute their code.
I have something in my inbox that can fix the impotency right up. At least that's what says it does.
I used to have a top-of-the-line 3dfx graphics card. It was all I ever thought I'd need.
I remember when this WHOLE website was nothin' but ORCHARDS; as far as the eye could see.
ORCHARDS? I remember when it was just a patch of dirt. We had to plant the trees first.
(cue up someone saying they remember the molten rock)
Not to mention Keanu Reeves...
Fixed that for you.
I thought he was already a robot?

Pale green in pictures or when you look in a mirror?
Pictures? White balance your camera better. Many cameras don't auto white balance so well under fluorescents.
Mirror? White balance your eyes. :P
And this is /. Is this a hypothetical looking bad in front of the ladies that never come over? (j/k) :P
