I have Canon IS 1S with a 4GB CF flash drive. It fell few times on a wooden floor with not even a scratch. Friend of mine just bought Minolta A200 with 8GB of flash which is supposed to be event better. Both of these will record at 640x480x30fps which may not be exactly DV but is very close. 4GB flash is good for 40 min of video. If that is not enough for you then you can carry a laptop and transfer there or one of these battery powered hard drives (40 or 80 GB) with integrated CF readers.

I don't use other SMTP server then my own computer. But this means that my computer have to resolve the recipients address, find the mail gateway and send the mail to the recipient. If the ISP starts blocking port 25 I'll have to relay everything thru them. That's absurd. The spam have simple solution and it is using mail address aliases that are unique for the person/organization that will use this address. Wells Fargo (my bank)nows me as wellsfargo@mydomain.com. They use this address when they send messages to me and If I start receiving spam with a recipient wellsfargo@mydomain.com who do you think will be responsible for this? And the solution is quite simple - just delete this alias and go on.

  14. problem solved for me on The Spam Problem: Moving Beyond RBLs · · Score: 1

I forgot what does it mean to receive spam long time ago. I just started generating unique aliases to my real email address for everyone who wants my email i.e. instead of giving to Bill Gates realname@mydomain.com address I'm just giving him billgates@mydomain.com. If I start receiving spam sent to billgates@mydomain.com, I would know who leaked my address to the spammers and I can easily remove the alias. This is also very good for sites that don't have unsubscribe quite working - just delete the alias and you don't get more mails from these guys. You can do the same thing with subdomain i.e. me@billgates.mydomain.com
I wish all software supports this kind addressing and makes email address aliasing easy for everybody

Microsoft license makes everything free. The only restriction it puts is that you can't distribute source with more restrictions that they have. GPL simply don't work in this case because it is RESTRICTIVE license and requires source code to be suplied. That's a GPL problem I think. Microsoft just found a way to fight with GPL restrictions by ensuring that people will have freedom to do whatever they want with their specs.
