    absolutely. this inspection was made public before it even happened. that is no way to inspect a place because you'll end up with biased results. How about we get some media coverage on surprise inspections instead of scheduled ones ? I have no doubt in my mindthat the conditions found during a scheduled inspection are skewed.

    You are reading those reports all wrong. You're infected with confirmational biast. Those are reports for a single quarters worth of sales. During that quarter, there were more new iOS phones being sold than new android phones being sold. The install base for android dwarfs iOS. Don't fool yourself.

    All natural medicines do not equal homoeopathy. I use many natural remedies for boosting my immunity. Homoeopathy is a very specific "alternative" medicine type that imho is complete and utter bullshit. Acupuncture or dietary changes are not homoeopathy even in the broadest sense of the word. Steve Jobs, afaik, did not subscribe to any of that nonsense. I honestly can't blame the guy for trying less invasive treatments before electing for surgery. Any kind of decision involving getting surgery done should be weighed very heavily.

    It's a little different of a situation when the keys published on the internet come from a recognized partner. AMD leaked their legitimate keys. This wasn't some illegal collection of keys. I'm sure action will be taken on any accounts that used one of these keys, but I dont think steam would suspend their account permanently. The context of this problem is entirely different than the one their zero tolerance policy describes.

    Does anyone have any leads on what steam is doing in regards to anyone who obtained one of these keys? Its definatly a tricky situation for them, as man of these keys leaked were shipped with amd graphic cards already.

    There's defiantly more to this story that "simply stating piracy exists". Getting banned from a forum is also no big deal. You can make a new forum account very easily. There are clear rules there that say do not talk about piracy. It is a reasonable request. You got banned because you defied their request, not because they're pretending the issue doesn't exist. Policy is policy.

    Realistically, the cruise ship market exists. Obviously they aren't trying to sell people on getting to their destination fast and they also have a much higher turn around than airliners as well. As the OP described it, it would be a leisure cruise and there is more profit opportunities in that business than just admission tickets. Business travel and leisure travel are two entirely different business models.

    The cool part of this in my opinion, is that they are actually drawing up a blueprint to do this. I would say we are technologically capable of getting it done and the steps to produce this structure may very well be taken. Now a days private companies are pushing into space more and more. Colonizing the moon might get a swift kick in the ass soon enough.

    5 years isn't long at all for a game. The only reason they would have you believe it is old and mouldy is so that you rush out to buy the new $70 title. This is why I don't subscribe to the console world any longer. Developers have created a market where long term support for games isn't expected at all. You are a classic example of this perception.

    I wouldn't be surprised if, in regards to shutting down game servers, XBL has shut down the most games. Many games that came out at launch on the 360 don't have servers anymore. Chromehounds being a noteworthy one.

    Stop pretending that the members of lulz security, operation anon, anonymous, 4chan, whatever you call them; are part of some sort of moral higher ground. They hacked nintendo get steal valuable information. plain and simple. Any other motives they pretend to have are contrary to their actions. Vigilante groups like them will just lead to harsher regulation laws that hurt people like me, the consumer and benefit corporations like the one they're supposedly fighting.

    Nobody is excusing sony for their "actions" though that doesn't make any sense. What you probably mean instead is sony's INACTION in regards to security. What is happening in this thread however is people are excusing Anon's actions within this matter. Lulz security is obviously inspired by or directly part of anon, as we can tell by the title they gave them self. I'm pointing out that there is absolutely no excuse for disclosing this kind of sensitive user information. So what you ask? You sir, are also an asshat.

    This is true. I could care less about sony though. They are a faceless corporation. Their customers however are my fellow men. This attack was a direct assault against them and hurts them more than it ever would hurt sony.

    I guess anon's new prerogative is to hurt anyone who doesn't agree with them. Not just the perpetrators.

    You aren't getting it. You're blinded by biast. Responsible disclosure would've been releasing just enough of the password to prove they had and not given away 1000's of innocent people's security information. They did not do this. They released 1000's of innocent people's security information.

    "Lulz Security" Is not acting from some moral higher ground here. Do not try and pretend they are.

    This is a ridiculous justification. The actions taken are clearly an attack on the customers of sony and it's clear that these kids running this "security company" are only in it for the lulz. A name says alot. There is no higher motive behind these attacks. They are being very reckless about how this data was released and don't know anything regarding responsible disclosure. Its easy enough to prove you have the data with enough of a mask over it so that it's unusable. If they simply showed the first and last letter of every password that would be enough to prove it. They didn't do this.

    How does it make perfect sense? This guy did know the laws of the place he was visiting and knowingly broke them. Given that he was studying the issues of that country and he translated a political text on those issues years ago, it should be understood that the original post doesn't make any sense at all.

    Further, your point supports my position of understanding context even more. I realize that slashdot omitted this fact and he actually does have thai citizenship. This detail, which can be gathered by looking further than the summary, is absolute proof that he understands the laws of the country he is going to. I believe its a requirement of citizenship in most countries .

    What ever happened to people understanding context?

    Those "definitions" of what OSS is then. They don't apply here at all. They're only those organizations ideal definitions of what OSS should be.

    snes9x explicitly declares how the source they release can be used. The FSF has no jurisdiction on the matter

    Why are you being modded insightful? This is clearly a non-commercial licence issue and he never said anything about OSS being a "poisoned chalice". Nobody ever said anything close to "it's immoral to make money off OSS software" and I suspect nobody will since its a position that can quickly be eroded. Since we're talking about it though, taking clearly licensed for non commercial use code and selling it directly in a market without any kind of consideration to the licence, is very immoral. There is absolutely no insight provided in your comment. Only FUD.
