    Damn! And I was holding out for an Multi Window Interface (MWI) version of IE. Then it could suck like office by adding taskbar hacks for windows you can't see.

    Naive question. You might want to smack your windows admins into reading the books they use to make their shelves look informed.

    Use active directory assigned installs. Use zap files and batch files if there is no MSI. Set an upgrade policy in the installation. One GPO per installation/upgrade.

    Next on slashdot, CEO wants to be CIO, but there is no 'I' in team. What are other slashers doing about the missing 'I'?

    I to have an african grey (Mr. Bean) who is the highlight of our living room. The dander is pretty persistent, but has never given us problems with our electronics. When I was a young punk hacking late nites with an ash-tray and a bowl I went through opti's and cpu fans pretty quickly. My money is on the article poster's environment.

    This silly author should do a conversion table for EQ platimun to US dollars. Then calcualate how much startup cost, electricity, and mountain due impact the players bottom line.

    They also have sensational battery life. My old g3 pizmo w/ 2 batteries would last 8 continuous hours of word processing. And would do a week business trip of casual use without recharging. My TiBook and iBook get about 3 hours of casual use (w/ airport).

    If you have no religious preferences about computing then the Apple will give better power performance. The G3 iBooks are coming in cheap now. Especially, refurbed. Then you can save money for the solar setup that is going to hurt more.

    The laptop has power conserving options and its own battery source. The laptop will give you more flexibility. Plus, you can take it on business trips to meet with other hill billies in the co-op. Imagine the waste of powering the desktop on and off.

    Plus, Thoreau, you can take a bag of batteries over to your moms there and charge them up.

    Remember this is about your customer base not your ego or /.'s peer pressure. You want as much convenience for as many people as is possible with in your time/quality/cost constraints. So, don't be guided by your ego. Offer both if you can and if you cater to 1337 trolls then offer SFTP, FTP-SSL, gopher, and other not-popular protocols. Just make sure that the majority of your users can access the content and your ok either way.
