Right, and man will never fly. Between your proof by assertion and your sig, you seem to have some pretty strong beliefs there, my friend. I think you need a healthy dose of skepticism.
In Mozilla (and I assume Firefox; it did the last time I tried it), you don't even need to do this. Just type in site, without the 'www' and the 'com' and hit enter; it will automatically try the site with the 'www' and the 'com'.
Unfortunately, that only works if you aren't behind a proxy. When I try that, I get a message from Squid telling me there was an error "While trying to retrieve the URL: http://HOSTNAME/" because it can't find the host HOSTNAME.
Funny enough, IE for Mac works the same way (I know they're from completely different code bases, but you think someone would suggest it to the IE Win team).
I've become very used to things like shift-clicking a link to bring up extra pages or hitting ctrl-enter after typing in a word to add the http://www. and.com to it.
In Firefox, not only does Ctrl + Enter add the 'www' and 'com', but Shift + Enter adds 'www' and 'net' and Ctrl + Shift + Enter adds 'www' and 'org'. You really should give it a try.
Just on a guess, I'd say there are a lot more PHP developers out there than Lua or Ruby developers (though Lua looks pretty cool). Besides, Ruby developers are all just ex-Pythoneers who thought Python was becoming too popular, and don't really count as developers anyway;>)
On a similar note, you could get an inexpensive VDS. I use JVDS.net, whom I consider excellent, but there are others. My unaffiliated endorsement: With JVDS, $15 or $20 (FreeBSD or Linux - your choice) monthly gets you get root access, 3 GB disk and 64 Mb RAM, which will easily handle your web and mail server.
Robert Mugabe! He asked me to help him move $47 million in unclaimed funds from his country to the US and he would give me 15% for my troubles. I've already sent him the $15000 in transfer fees, so it's just a matter of days until I'm rich!!!
Probably a dual-core CPU running at 4GHz, 2 gigs of RAM, a terabyte of storage, a 1 Gbit, built-in, Ethernet-wired port and an 802.11g wireless link, and a graphics processor that runs three times faster than those on the market today. (See here)

Then you've never signed up for Mileage Plus with those shitfucks at United Airlines. United Airlines apparently thinks their customers (or former customers in my case) are interested in the usual assortment of penis-enhancing/mortgage/porn garbage peddled by lowlife spammers. As a test, I kept changing the user part of the email address I am registered at United with, and sure enough, a few weeks later it starts getting spam (and subsequently forwarded to uce@ftc.gov and silently dropped from my server).
But for the most part, I agree. Most reputable companies don't sell your address.
I think lpangelrob2 is right. If you notice, the designer of the building is A. Epstein, which is an anagram for "eat penis". Coincidence? I think not...
Mmmmm, if only my female acquaintances were so gullible......wait, I don't have any female acquaintances. I've wasted my life with this damn computer!!!
True, but if you were to read the original question, you'd see it wasn't "How do I record audio using as little CPU power as possible?", but rather "How do I make my DP G5 quiet so that I may sit next to it and record audio using Pro Tools Mbox?" Pro Tools will use as much CPU and RAM as you throw at it, hence my somewhat comical retort "You're not a Pro Tools user, are you?" to SSPade's assertion that you don't need all the power of a G5 for recording.

I'm in the process of moving my sites to JVDS as we speak. My current host is good, but they can't beat JVDS's cost. I also like that JVDS gives you a choice of either a popular Linux distros (Gentoo, Slackware, Redhat, Fedora, Debian, Suse, Mandrake) or FreeBSD, and donates part of your payment to either FreeBSD or Debian, based on your distro choice.
Scary? I thought D minor was the saddest of all keys?
Maybe you could harvest some of that solar energy to power an industrial-strength spellchecker to run your postings through.

Ahh, but what happens when the Earth suddenly stops rotating?
Dude, just take the stairs. You kids are sooo lazy today...

Now that they are regrouping, maybe someone will.

Umm, they dropped the "Kool" part about 8 years ago.

You should forward all of your spam to uce@ftc.gov.

Episode 56, The Secret of Bigfoot, Part 2
How do I know? In 1976, Steve Austin - the Six Million Dollar Man - revealed to us that Bigfoot was an experiment by aliens.
It can't be that urgent if you are asking on /. how to do it.

The book was not made into a movie, as such. Clarke wrote the book while writing the screenplay, which was based on both Clarke's and Kubrick's ideas.
Yes, some of the elderly are knowledgeable and wise, but I'd say most are as dumb as they were at 20.
