I know that a large portion of that market are extremely stupid people who wouldnt know a browser from their own ass, but there are a lot of smart people who do use windows you. I know, hard to believe :P

It's a beautiful engine, I cant wait for HL2 to come out, and am confident it will be JUST FINE THANK YOU VERY MUCH since it's the same engine. Even though obviously not all of the advanced features are being used in CS, most of those are CPU intensive anyways as opposed to graphics card. I'm thinking particularly of the physics engine here.

A big difference between the 50-60 million who watch the televised debates. If a third party was on one of the televised debates with the two "real" candidates, and the debate was seen by 50-60 million people, I would say it would have a huge impact. You dont think so? Come on.

I would say the third party's vote would increas significantly. Especially after several election cycles of this... say 12 years from now, if every election third party's were included in the debate and people got used to it and started gaining confidence in them, then they would actually have a real chance of winning.

As is now, voting for one is more of a statment than actually hoping they're going to win. Gotta love the US.

  6. Delicious? on Cross Platform Browser Bookmark Autosyncing? · · Score: 5, Interesting

I'm going to assume you've either heard of http://del.icio.us and dont like it, or you've been living under a rock for the past few months. Delicious isnt everything youre looking for I'm sure but it is pretty neat. It's been around for almost a year but just in the past month it has gotten insanely popular.

Now it doesnt sync your bookmarks with your browsers, instead it's an online place to store your bookmarks. What many people think is the best thing about it, including myself, is that you dont organize your bookmarks into folders. Instead you give them tags, and each bookmark can have more than one tag. A tag is basically just a category.

So for example if you're a web develper such as myself and you find something on javascript that just tickles you pink, then you click your little bookmarklet to add a post to delicious (there are many third party tools available as well), then tag it as "web dev javascript" or however you want (that's what I'd do)

At this point I only have about ~50 bookmarks so its not too handy yet but it will be. If I want to see all bookmarks on development, I can just type in "dev". If I want web development, I can type "web dev". If I want to see just javascript thigns, I can type "web dev javascript" or just "javascript". It's really cool because your bookmarks can fall under an unlimited number of categories, rather than the old structure of trying to figure out the one specific place you want to put this bookmark.

The other good thing is obviously you can access it from any computer on the internet, and not just the ones you normally use. I have already found this aspect of it very useful.

It's also a cool way to see what people are interested in that day. delicious/popular shows the top 20 or so links that have been added each day. If you want to see what other people have found that's interesting on javascript for example, you can just go to delicious/tag/javascript and it will show the last ~100 links that have been added to the site and tagged with "javascript". And each link it shows will also show how many other people have that same link bookmarked, so it's easy to find the popular things in any category.

I recommend it if you haven't checked it out already. :)

It seriously feels like it is someone's first ever map, made by Billy (age 7)

The past few months I was actually playing the demo more than the retail version because I love Torlan so much and just wanted to play that for a while. But now the old demo doesnt work anymore with their master servers, you have to run the new demo, this totally sucks because I do NOT want to play Primeval. Everytime I was on the retail version and this map came up, I would change servers. I'm actually really pissed at them for including such a horrible map.

Firefox also isnt really opitmized for OSX so I can imagine it running horribly on your computer, as it does on my G3. It is by far my favorite browser, but I just stick with Safari on the Mac side, since it's a pretty good browser and pretty fast on slower Macs.

I didnt even start using Windows much until 2000 came out, vs my ~10 years of experience on macs.

Windows UI is not bad at all. My main computer is a Windows machine, because actually, over time I've grown to like it more than OSX. I'm sure the fact that it's a 3200+ with radeon9600 and 18" LCD has something to do with it. VS my current 700Mhz G3 12" screen ibook. What it really comes down to is, everything I need to do on a computer, I can do just fine on a Windows machine.

I'm NOT saying that everyone should use Windows, or that Windows is better than Mac OS, or that Macs suck, or anything like that. I like Macs and if you do too, that's great. Whatever gets the job done. I'm just saying that your "experiment" wont prove shit.
