Even after reading the article, I still fail to grok what the "tough spot" is. Is it just that they don't want to name it "Colbert"? That's not a tough spot, that's just obstinance.
What are the bosses going to do, stop by their desk and give them a stern talking-to?
The alternative is "you never go to space again and your career as an astronaut/cosmonaut is over". There have been lots of stories in the past about how astronauts are treated like lab rats but they put up with it because it's the only way to get to orbit.
Sadly, this is the attitude of many in sales in this country. Good Business is how much you can milk from your customers and how fast regardless of the consequences. I sat with a couple of sales guys (friends at that) last weekend who bragged back and forth about how they were literally screwing associates.
I don't think that word means what you think it means.
The phone number aggregation thing is not exactly new. If you have a Vonage account, you can already do that. Vonage calls this feature 'SimulRing'. When someone calls your Vonage phone, it will simultaneously ring up to 5 phone numbers of your choosing (home, work, cell, etc.).
What I want to know is, is GrandCentral/Google Voice better?
GrandCentral doesn't require you to subscribe to a VoiP service, and it's free. I have DSL, which requires a landline. It's not cost effective for me to switch to a cell/VoiP phone choice since I still have to pay for a land line.
While I agree with you on the "select from the following options" comment, the real benefit for me with GrandCentral is the phone aggregation feature. I don't have to keep telling my family and friends a new phone number, and I can have calls ring at any and all of my various phones (home, work, cell, skype). Is that "revolutionary"? I suppose so.
80% of the vote for Serenity, huh? I would have thought geek culture would have been able to come up with something original rather than a rehashed idea from a canceled TV show.
Most end-users running Vista are doing so because they aren't comfortable changing their OS, those who absolutely must have DirectX 10 and don't realize you can get it on XP with some hackery, or Microsoft fans who insist on running Microsoft's latest release.
Where do you get your data from? Evreyone I know that runs Vista runs it because they like it. The only people I know that bitch about Vista are Linux fanboys.
What you say is true, except that CCP has an economist on staff specifically to analyze this stuff. In the year or so since they've hired him, he should have been able to accumulate enough data to make a judgment regarding the total value of all ISK and items in the game and then develop methods for tracking spikes in that value. If you see a sudden large spike, you need to be able to account for it. That's what an economist does.
I'm not buying the "4 year" claim, but I'm also not buying CCP's 4 DAY claim, either. They've already shown that they're willing to lie to the player base or otherwise sweep things under the rug.
CCP does have an honest to god real life professional economist on staff. ~z
Yeah, but these days we call him an "economist" (with quotes) since he's clearly too incompetent to notice the creation of trillions of ISK worth of materials without the requisite manufacturing/mining process to support it.
Even if you personally aren't making a profit, you could be impacting the profit of the copyright owner, which is the whole point of the DMCA.
Home-owners Associations controlling MY internet?

Seriously, you have got to be effing kidding. Most HA's are so over-run with busybodies that they already make life almost unbearable for the average homeowner. Can you imagine them in control of your internet, too?
What I'd like someone to do is to produce a DMCA takedown order for Toyota on a piece of clothing that is worn by an actor in one of Toyota's ads.
It would be better to serve them an order to remove all ads containing clothes for copyright violation and then invoice them when they ask you to indicate which ads are violating copyright.
As deed holder via the International Star Registry, that includes a deed on any planets in orbit, I forbid it. Why, there might even be rich deposits of diamelles and/or Ginsu steak knives on that planet. I'm not giving it up without a fight.
If it's interstellar war you want, sir, it's interstellar war you shall have! Have at you!

Seriously. How is this not treason?

Didn't Obama say he was all for transparency?
Which part of "He's lying!" did you not understand when the Right was shouting it all the way through his campaign?

7.62x54R + old hard drives = Good clean fun.
My dad grew up in the middle-of-nowhere, Idaho
I bet addressing and delivering mail to him was a pain in the butt.

they've got that Office gravy coming in
Mmmm....office gravy....
As long as they promised, there's nothing to worry about, right?
Why are you so angry about it? Are you that upset that there are people who like Vista or who might like Windows 7? Seriously, what's the problem?
Are you sure they run it because they like it or because it came pre-installed and then grew to like it?
Does it matter? The point is that they like it.

A leisurely stroll through Freshmeat should be sufficient.
Not if you're looking for "10 coolest...".
Clue for the TFA'a author: there are lots of very interesting open source projects that don't have a damn thing to do with Linux!
Like what? I'd be interested in trying a few.

Some of us can't throw away $250M on something like this, we're forced to drink ours le naturale.
Yeah, but here you pay a buck per can and call it "Budweiser".

If you can get there, it's yours.
Sweet. I'm going to paint it pink and stock it with hippies.
