On the Mac hit option + e, o, u, etc. and then the letter you want the accent over. For the accented é, the keystrokes are option+e and then e. Cool!
My roomie from Norway loved being able to type up correctly spelled letters for home. Hmmm...short, blond, busty Norwegian roommate...argle...drool (sorry we pissed you off and you moved out. If anyone out there knows Signe Enderssen (sp?), from Kendall College of Art and Design, tell her to drop me a line).
Ya' really think Apple would release a generic OS X-X86, that would run on white box parts? Naw, they'd use Intel chip DRM to tie it into just Apple brand boxes. C'mon, they make money pushing plastic, not bits.
If there is a real performance increase, than yeah, it could be worth it. What I asked was if this really does provide a performance increase worth the money? Well, does it?
Now, I drive a big block Chevy. I understand the need for more power and performance than sanity admits. But, with this card, are you actually getting more performance? I know I am with my engine mods. Or is this just a big dick exercise in marketing?
No, Apple's moved from the $1500-$3500 range for computers down to $500-$2500 range. In order to keep profits up, costs have to be cut. In part, this is done through good design but more seems to be through commodity manufacturing, out-house. When you're having your stuff built on someone else's assembly line, it's hard to keep on top of quality control.
While it doesn't have the capacity of the iPod (yet), who cares
I do. I like having 20+ GBs of music with me. I also don't carry a phone. Can't stand the things. So, extrapolating from my one data point (I don't like phones) it's obvious that mobile phones will never take off.
As for an X-Box replacing a pc, all most faculty at my college use their machines for is word processing (and some spreadsheet), surfing the web, email and sorting porn. There's 10%-15% who also use some specific apps to their discipline but they're usually in the natural sciences building and that place smells funny.
I wouldn't be surprised if 75% of computer users were similarly limited in their use. So, MS sells boxes to 75% of the market and leaves 25% for the rest of the pc manufacturers to fight over. It's a plan! But I'm fired, because I projected 75%. Shoulda' said 95%. That's how you get ahead at MS.
If MicroSoft bought Apple, how long would it be before they shipped an Apple compatible Macintosh? Would it lag for a year or more, they way Halo did?

So, what's the code name? Einstein? Pascal? Dvorak?

too much inf...ooh, shiny!
No? To hell with it!
Can't find an OS X download.
...while driving down the highway. I'm going to get rid of my browser now, since it has google search built in. All hail MicroSoft!
...with huge flying donuts and goofy kids that can't reach the pedals of their space ships? This'll be cool@!

I thought the suits in Korea were lamé.
Grid blisters?
They designed a computer with 64k RAM. Didn't they know that 640k would be enough for anybody?
Napa doesn't deliver?
In Russian Soviet, lame are so jokes!
A screen door maybe?
True, and so you get higher capacities in newer machines but overall, the price price per component remains the same.
Do wish Apple would get out of the lowest possible amount of RAM thing, though. Either ship with a decent amount of RAM or have a 0 RAM option.

'Cuz that's the goal of everyone, to have the beauty of Windows run on an expensive Apple box.

"Worv" not "Word".
An Apple bit your ass?
