    Hey, music files have pretty much killed of cd's for me. Hell, the last piece of physical music I bought was an H. P. Lovecraft album (vinyl). Some used music places have no idea what they have.

    As storage space drops in price, I'll be able to have my movie collection stored like my music. I just priced out a house media server that could handle my collection (~200 DVD's). Would be around $5k for what I want. Not too bad, especially as I'm going to try to roll the cost into my new house building plan.

    Candy's dandy, jobs are for mobs but lickquor's quicker!

    I support all the Macs at a small college and RAM fixes lots of stuff with OSX. I'm not sure how well it's work with VirtualPC as we've only installed it on dual processor G5's. Runs pretty well, there, with 1 GB RAM.

    I was able to run NetBSD on my 1993 Duo 270c but I don't recall seeing anyone running Linux on a Ti Book back in '91.

    Man, I hate to run OSX with less than 512MB RAM. Upgrade! Knock over a lick-her store or something, if you need the cash. You can never be too thin or have too much RAM!

    So someone should come up with a 'PornOS" distro? Market it as the way to surf porn safely and then people will be installing Linux everywhere and not even realizing it. Brilliant!.

    So Apple should develop commercial valued software for open source?

    As for OS X, do you mean Apple's windowing system; Quartz? Quartz was developed from NeXT and Adobe's Display Postscript technology. Never was open source.

    It was down to 4 this morning. Usually, Howard Taylor (Mr. Schlock) keeps it around 20. Gav (Nukees), on the other foot, keeps his going with no buffer. Nasochist!

    ..commodity computer company that only supports the lowest common denominator. All they do is pay the Chinese to assemble generic 'white' boxes. When was the last time Apple created anything original. They just repackage other people's tech and hire funky marketers.

    You can get Firewire cables for $5.00 at SF Cables. I've been using their cables in several video editing labs and haven't had a problem with them.

    O. M. G.!!! I bought a 33 MHz Mac, back in 1993 for $2400.00. What was I thinking? I should have just waited 15 years and I could have got it for free! Doh!
