But why is it shit? You can't just call something bad without giving some examples or reasons. How is Elm or Pine better than Eudora? Is it stability, features, or what? An argument is not the simple gainsaying of another.
How so? What am I missing out on? I've tried the mail.app, latest Netscape, OE/Entourage, and Nissus email app. Eudora seems to be working fine for me. Haven't had any problems. It filters mail fast (200+ filters) on 60 or so messages a day. I have email back as far as 1998, taking up around 150MB of disk space. Never had it quit on me or freak out. Working as a Mac tech, never had to trouble shoot anything with it, other than wrong settings. Can't say that for OE and Netscape.
Been running 10.2.8 on two iMacs at home and it's been ok. I did max out the RAM at 512MB but it's perfectly usable. 10.1 pretty much blew chunks, though.
That being said, will be interesting to see how much faster 10.3 is. It's nice that, since 10.0 was a major slowdown, 10.x keeps getting faster. Guess if you start with a low bar, it's easy to keep improving with each release.
I don't know if the PBG4s come with AppleWorks (iBooks, iMacs do) but I know they have an OfficeX demo as well as a game or two, and I think the latest Quicken. You get restore DVD that should let you re-install the apps that come with it.
As for doing a clean install and not an upgrade, when the installer comes up you click on the option button and tell it to archive and install. It'll keep all your user settings (Users/user/Library) and apply them where it can (some new things in 10.3 have to be set up and can't use previous settings. It should keep your dock and desktop settings.
Is this anything like the couple that was being sued (by a clothing pattern maker) for reselling or providing a swap site for used patterns on the internet?
While the file itself will remain unreadable, it's likely that random personal data will be incorporated into the metadata of the file so that it'll soon be possible to receive a Word 03 file from someone and soon have an unending line of pizza delivery guys hanging on the bell at all hours of the night.
...the king of floating document formats. Once again, Microsoft is changing it's formats, in an attempt to force users to upgrade their software, as well as lockout 3rd party apps and OS's.
Here at my college, we have had such a problem with various Word formats (from student and faculty home machines) that we're pushing saving as RTF. The problem with this is that there's a large segment of users out there that have no clue as to what a file format is, much less why they should go to any further trouble than just hitting save.
There's always several, usually at the end of a term, who can't print from their computer and need a paper printed up (class is in 5 minutes). Said paper is done on some 5 year old Romanian version of Office Works Lite and nothing else but Office 98 on a Mac can read it.
'Course I don't have a floppy disk on my Mac and have to walk across campus (with wailing student in tow-"I need this for class or I'll fail!") to the Mac lab and then spend 5 more minutes (that I could be surfing pr0n or taking over the world in SMACX) explaining that the print button on the tool bar really does do the same thing on a Mac, and yes, it is pretty, just print your friggin' paper, you overpaying, coddled, mama's child!
Just about all of these Macs have (eMacs, iBooks have 2 RAM slots. Both are accessible by users. Yeah, Apple's shipping 128Mb chip in one but I'm adding a 256MB chip to them for 348Mb for the price of Apple's 256MB. Good deal for me.
Now if only there was some way of adding more than 64MB RAM to our PowerMac 6100's. They can't go past OS 9.1.
I just got my G5 1.8GHz last Friday. Totally sweet. Yeah, a G4 laptop would be cool but the G5 is just so totally slick. Can't wait for 10.3 to show up and see it really shine.
Guess I'll hold onto my G3 266MHz laptop for a few more months. It's topped out with OSX 10.2.8 (10.3 isn't supposed to install on equipment that didn't ship with USB ports). I imagine that there'll be a hack to let 10.3 install on older Macs.
Get your RAM elsewhere. Apple about doubles it's RAM prices. I just ordered a bunch of Macs for my college and minimized all the RAM in them. Saved me about $1200 on 30 odd Macs.
Check out datamem.com. Been using them for about 6 years and only had one bad chip. I called them and they next day'd a chip out to me. Didn't even wait for me to return the bad chip.
Why would anyone starve in a world that produces such and excess of food? Why would anyone kill anyone else. Why can't we all just get along?
'Cause we're all living on planet Stoopid and it's infested with Hoomins. Once they're eliminated, Gaea can recover and blossom and everything will be good and shiny and happy. Except for the all the things that get eaten by all the other things. They'll have moments of terror and pain. But it'll all be good as they're natural and not 'Hoomin Made'.
But Canada's just like Japan, only weird. You got that big fence and all those cops trying to keep people from crossing over and dying in the desert. And no comedians.
Hence, the paper trail with ATM transactions. A weird thing happened last week; the ATM recorded dispursing $80.00 to me but only $60.00 came out. I called my credit union later the same day, gave them the transaction number and they credited me the missing $20.00. Cool!
Try attaching a mono-pod to the camera, shorten it to where it's 2-3 feet, add a couple of pounds weight to the bottom of the stick and you have a poor man's steady cam. Works pretty good. Still doesn't give me a good eye for framing a shot or anything.
As for Spielberg, yeah, he's sleeping well tonight. I can't come up with a creative idea to save my life.

It preserves your all the User folders. It also makes a previous system folder where it sticks in the previous system, library, etc.

Does Eudora work on Linux? It's been great on my Mac from back in 1993 or so.
Damn these pitiful, amateur attempts at humor!
Just rebuilt the motor of my '70 Impala. Lots of low milage and high torque but no black box.
Is this anything like the couple that was being sued (by a clothing pattern maker) for reselling or providing a swap site for used patterns on the internet?
I'd say the biggest improvement is that HTML emails don't automatically load images.
Eudora's done this for years.

Cool! Thanks man. Will be nice not losing my beige G3 at home, either.

Go for the one with the combo drive and then click on build to order. Set the RAM lower there.

How bad do you want to gamble?!!! Come to Vegas and see the glowing tigers.
I think placing spent fuel into subduction zones on the sea floor, so that they get recycled would be a good idea.
But Canada's just like Japan, only weird. You got that big fence and all those cops trying to keep people from crossing over and dying in the desert. And no comedians.
Nesting sucks! Stop it!
I don't see Apple or IBM or Sun pushing anything to deny Linux on their hardware.
