Just moved to a new job and they have an adjustable height desk there. Guess I should start using it. After standing here for 15 minutes, am thinking I need to ask the boss for one of those squishy mats to stand on. This will be interesting, trying to work this way.
Yup, my company has had to spend some cash on developers to upgrade various web apps that only work with IE6. We were warning them about this in 2007 but it took transitioning to Vista and IE7 to finally get them to cut loose with the $$$. Silly management.
I don't know if you grew up with cars from the 60's and 70's but things have changed for the better. Back then, even Datsuns, Hondas and Toyotas, needed a lot more maintenance and more frequent maintenance than modern cars and they also didn't last as long. To get 100,000 miles out of an engine without a ring or valve job (actually taking engine apart and partially rebuilding it) was almost unheard of. Same thing with transmissions; seems you were always getting bands adjusted and such.
Now days, my '96 Jeep Grand Cherokee is about to pass 330,000 miles, only having oil/fluids changed and belts and spark plugs. My '02 Tracker has just passed 125,000 miles, again with just fluid and plug changes. And both of these machines are required to pass emissions checks, which my older cars ('72 Honda and '70 Impala) don't. And with the older cars, there's still timing and carb adjustments that have to be made about every other month or so.
The other cool thing about modern cars; they've all been hot rodded. My '07 Chevy Trailblazer, just a basic truck with basemodel engine, has a 250 cubic inch straight 6 engine, the same size engine as my '68 Nova had. Only this engine is now aluminum block, fuel injected, has headers and free flowing exhaust, dual cam and puts out almost 100 HP more than my old straight 6. And gets better gas milage and pollutes less. And this is all standard now. Cool!
So yeah, modern cars are definitely lasting longer and are built better.
Hey, man, life is hard and it sucks so just bend over and take it. And don't whimper if there's no lube. Just live in the 'real' world. George the Third, just let him tax you with no representation. He's the real world and there's nothing you can do about it.
I just like the rant someone posted on Huff Post, complaining how Apple's going on and on about how they invented the tablet computer and then he was complaining how expensive it is and how his HP tablet is much better value for the money.
Dude! Apple hasn't announced jack shit, other than they couldn't see a way to make a sub $500 computer that was up to their standards. And that was 2 years ago.
So, if you raise the generator plant above the surface of the earth, and let the earth spin below it, it should generate current from the magnetic field passing by?
Years ago ('97?) I signed up with an email forwarder, paid my $15.00 for an 'email addy for life' and they then were bought up 6 years later, with service shut down. I hadn't actually used that addy in awhile, after getting IT job at uni but looking it up later, yeah, there were a lot of pissed off folks out there.
I've also been down the ISP email addy change, with smaller dial-up ('94) being bought up again and again, until I finally had earthlink.com as my name. Switched to Gmail to get away from that and so far, same addy for last 6 years. I really should get off my ass and just register a domain and be done with it.
Still, would be cool if some quasi-govermental agency, responsible for physical mail and such were to offer a permanent email addy to forward to current provider. If nothing else, would make it much easier for ex-gf's to block me from contact with them.
Is why I've always done my business with Credit Unions. Even when I worked for First Union (merged with Wachovia, bought by Wells Fargo). And yeah, I call in, hit 0, I'm speaking with someone just 6 miles away. Very easy to work with. Also, Credit Unions, being non-profit, tend to be more conservative in their lending and less likely to fail. There's still been a lot of CU failures in the last 2 years but nothing near the rate of banks. Pretty safe for regular folks to keep their money in.
I work 9/80's, getting every other Friday off. It's tech support, so yeah, I have to be here but so much of it (waiting on a remote install as I type) is just sitting here, get lots of time to 'keep up on technical issues'. It is nice, though, when I walk out the door, the job stays at the desk. Did some development work back in the '90's and that shit had me worrying about it all the time.
Actually, my Apple TV's do this with a Mac Mini I'm running as home A/V server. Granted, the Apple TV's don't have enough HD space to hold entire movie/music/photo collection but they do sync the latest files and can stream the rest. Works pretty well.
I could really use a tablet that would both stream and display media files. Hoping iPhone OS upgrade may provide this functionality for my iPhone as well.

I think they're made out of clay.
Here's a copy of the Star Wars Holiday Special. Art Carney ROCKS!

If there was a way to power items from a microwave burrito...
It is the hottest substance know to man.

If only we had a spinning neutron star near by...

That calendar had pictures of Women of Curling. This years calendar will have pictures of Amanda Bynes.

Sure, money has disappeared from the bank run by a ponzi guy and 'hackers' did it. Makes sense.

Maybe one of these UAVs?
That might confuse them.
Yup, track 27 in my case. Start movie in DVD player on computer, view track info as it starts, pick that track to rip.
