Some people actually do development work logged into a remote server. In such cases it's simply good practice to have a separate login for each user. Of course, maybe the particulars of your situation don't require this--but your assertation implies that it's adequate for everone, which it certainly is not.
Could the author explain why Linux isn't ready for office use? In my opinion it's been "ready" for several years, and only getting better. (And no snarky comments about lack of games, that doesn't apply to an office environment)
Oh, yes. Where is the originality in today's games? (granted, there are a few)
I still enjoy the occasional game of Lode Runner, Tower Toppler, Boulderdash, Impossible Mission, Space Taxi, Ms. Pan Man, Galaga, Sonic, Mario Kart, etc.
Fedora does have an aggressive release schedule, but no one's forced to upgrade. I have a dev server happily running FC3. I'll upgrade it when there's a clear necessity besides "running the latest thing."
You are letting partisianship cloud your judgement. Dan Rather is your best example? I'm willing to concede that reporters in general are slightly biased to the left. However, let's not forget that the multinational corporations they work for have conservative positions. Dan Rather made a mistake and resigned because of it.
When will Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, or Bill O'Reilly admit to the lies they willfully spread on a daily basis?
Am I the only one that finds clicking the mousewheel to be a stupid way of middle clicking.
Yep, it's just you. And the guy who modded you up, I guess.

You seem to have drunk the kool-aid. Here's a little chart to illustrate the facts. Mainstream media in the US is not "leftist," in fact it's a little to the right. However, Fox News and it's ilk are so far to the right they make centrist seem leftist.
Besides IE's other drawbacks is the fact that it's only available on a single platform: Windows. When I use a Mac or Linux box I like the fact that the same browser is available.
I'm all for web standards, but isn't ACID2 a purely academic excercise? It's nice that a browser passes it, of course, but in the real world practically nobody is going to be using CSS in that way.
I recently picked up a Series 2 Tivo and am happy with it. Right now my local Best Buy is offering the 40-hour model for $20 (after rebate), and the 80-hour model for $70 (after rebate). Can't really go wrong at that price, the biggest problem was finding a wireless network adaptor that works with it (see my recent journal entry).
Scalia is nothing more than a hypocritical shill for the Right. According to Scalia (who is supposedly a proponent of limiting Federal power), a State should have the power to imprison consenting adults for their private sexual behavior (Lawrence v Texas), however States do not have the power to regulate the drugs which may be prescribed within their borders (Ashcroft v. Raich).
Well.. that is simplifying matters a bit. Though since we share something like 95% of our DNA with Chimpanzees, I would agree they're something like our cousins in the tree of life. If there's anything I'm firmly in denial about it's balding, thank you very much!;)

And here I was, ready with my joke about power bottoms. Oh well..
Creationism ~= FSM
You may not like it, but the two "belief systems" are equally valid. Therefore, the "fsm" tag is appropriate.
Your proprietary format is worthless and weak.
Ha! Ha!
What kind of immigrant family has a pony?!

Not to mention a bit of a Nethack habit. ;)
When do those pesky MP3 patents expire, anyway? I don't see distros fretting about GIF support anymore..
/another FC3 user

What are the odds the guy who wrote that has a hot wife? He was just trying to get rid of the competition. ;)
With your comment about quasi-socialist-realist designs, were you perhaps thinking of Revolution?

1 = Mainstream media 2 = Fox newsThat said, I welcome our returning Futurama overlords.
Why should I if IE works well enough?
Besides IE's other drawbacks is the fact that it's only available on a single platform: Windows. When I use a Mac or Linux box I like the fact that the same browser is available.
Or Pr0n, the X-rated version.
That's ok, one of my coworkers is the 40-year old virgin. He looks like him, acts similar, even rides his bike to work every day!
we just need all browsers to get there.

You can find many interesting sights on Google Earth (and Maps). Some of the ones I've found interesting are:
Australia's Great Barrier Reef
The USS Arizona memorial at Pearl Harbor
China's Three Gorges dam
The Golden Gate Bridge
Am I the only one who finds it incredibly ironic that the digital music most likely to not play is called "Playsforsure?"

Just one of those things that makes me shake my head sadly.
Not to mention the continued usage of the escape character (\) as a path separator, or the file-mangling line endings for text files (\r\n) or..
