I just want the madness to end, from both sides. Thank god people at least laugh at MRAs, even if they tolerate feminists.
MRAs are a reaction to 3rd wave feminists, radfems and TERFs pushing so hard that men are now being disadvantaged in the legal system and other facets of society. Ever wonder why today's feminism goes out of it's way to attack individuals? It's because every other facet is scared that a group of shrieking harpies screaming sexism will show up and they'll have a PR problem. It's not any different then the long-cons run by Al Sharpton, et.al., either based on race.
I'm sure not a MRA, but I can sure see where they're coming from. Most other people would too, if they spent a couple of afternoons watching family court proceedings(as an example). Where the women is a substance abuser, abuses the kids, house is literally a roach shack and is awarded custody and the man is left paying for it all with zero visitation rights.
I don't know why this is downvoted. The message of "stop the insanity" is a sound one.
Easy. There's an entire generation of special snowflakes out there who believe that their feelings need to be protected. There's an entire group of people out there who are enabling and trying to make sure that their feelings won't get hurt...instead of making people grow up and learn that the world really doesn't give a shit for your feelings and the sooner you learn that, the better of a person you'll be because of it. They don't want to admit that they are in the wrong, that they've damaged an entire generation of people either.
This of course all comes out of the "everyone is a winner" BS and teaching kids that they're all unique special snowflakes(aka turning them into narcissists). If you need examples, spend an afternoon looking through tumblr and you'll find crazy on top of crazy where self-victimization is the rule of the day. And the more things you can stack on, the more privileged you become.
Women actually. Oddly enough, the individuals who use "slut and whore" the most often are...women at least in my neck of the woods. Seems to me that a lot of people have forgotten high school and exactly how mean and vindictive women can be to not only other women, but to men as well. There's a reason why "mean girls" is not a stereotype.
Best way around it is 2-factor auth. Hell my bank didn't allow me to have passwords longer then 6 characters up until a year or two ago(it's now 13 characters) and it's one of the largest in Canada.
Also, isn't this like the 4th "ROBOTZ are coming to TAKE YER JERBS!" story on/. today?
Yes, but the real question is...who's going to be buying their stuff when no one is longer working. I'm strongly starting to see that some form of mincome is going to become the norm. It might take another 4-8 years but when they're talking about 50% of the jobs being replaced here in Ontario by robots by 2025, it means that an unemployment rate that high is going to cause massive social problems. I wouldn't be surprised if you start seeing the mass-rollout of 40% in business taxes when that happens either.
There's nothing inherently "left" or "right" about fascism, especially not within the US today, where both sides are firmly committed to it's ideals (the control of both industry and government by the same select group)
Haven't been paying attention to universities? Haven't been paying attention to progressives the last 15 years? Oh boy are you in for a rude awakening.
Well if this is correct then they're right. Something to keep in mind though, a lot of the min. wage workers who are that old have either useless degrees(gender studies, the comparative philosophy of harry potter., etc) or people who are doing it just for some extra cash on the side. In my neck of the woods in Canada, there are very few teenagers who are working PT. Most of them are all in their 30's, same with the people working in big box stores(usually $1-3 above min wage). Teenagers don't get those jobs these days because the jobs are already taken.
Depends, do you live in Canada? If so, then you're protected under different privacy laws. This is likely illegal here if they're using it here.
On the other hand, dealing with the whole range of idiots out there from anti-privacy advocates to pro-authoritarian and anti-speech nuts seems to be a growing problem these days.
Give it 3 weeks and it'll change. After all, they said that salt was bad for years, and now too little salt and especially no salt is worse for you then having too much.
Only good in the US. In Canada, EU, Japan, and so on you can sue the fuck out of them and right into the ground. You can't be forced to waive legal rights by any form of contract.
Your statement is only true if you have a grid tied solar system. If you have a battery bank, then you can use that solar energy for your own use.
In Ontario for example, you must tie your generation to the grid, unless the site isn't wired for it. There are places like that mainly up in cottage country and the far north of the province. But where the vast majority of where the province lives(between Ottawa and Windsor), you're tied in if you like it or not.
Don't worry. It just means that your anti-vaxxer stories won't show up quite as often, or that 9/11 was an inside job and here's the proof type stuff won't show up so more.
They hate nothing more than people charging up at home, on their own terms, with the electricity provider of their choosing, possibly with their own solar.
You apparently don't live in Canada. Where you have no choosing of your own, and by law in most provinces you must sell that electricity to the provincial energy board.
So would that be the silent 19% majority of Canadians that live in rural areas?... or are you counting larger towns and small cities as well?
I live in the SWON. A large town in Canada generally has a population under 150k(in most peoples minds--if you don't live in Canada and have never traveled it the scale and scope of this part of the world is kind of amazing), and small cities usually start around 200k in most peoples minds. Even at that, the cultural gap between a place like Toronto or Ottawa is vastly different compared to a place like Kitchener/Waterloo and the gap is even further when compared to a city like Woodstock or London. Even where I live now it's considered rural, even though the population of the city is ~50k and the county has nearly 500k people living in it. Though many in Toronto would call this area "the land of rednecks" and "socially backwards people."
With that, people like their nice quiet life. They don't like cultural invasions of people who don't want to live like the rest of the people do. They don't want to bend over backwards because someone who's immigrated here has gotten their panties in a twist because they don't want xyz thing going on and disrupting the way of life in the area. If on the other hand a person immigrates and goes with the flow of the area, there's no problems. A good example would be the bend-over-backwards mentality of school boards in many areas to allow muslims to hold religious prayers on school property or attempt to demand that they be held in class. The first, no one really cares about as long as they're not trying to shove it down anyone elses throat. The latter? Everyone cares about. Why? Because back in the 1980's when the lords prayer was banned from being allowed in classrooms everyone was fine with it. No one wants special exemptions if they can't play by the same rules. The big city folks see that as "socially backwards" the average person outside of there? They see it as socially correct, after all everyone has to play by the same rules.
You should really get outside of the big cities. That's the only place where canadian identity is multicultural, the rest of the country doesn't like it. Canada is likely about to experience the same cultural awakening that Europe and it's multicultural idealism is experiencing. One also can't forget that said multicultural idea has allowed ghettos to start appearing here in Canada, something that is new to the Cancuk landscape.
But if you don't think Americans aren't well equipped to understand this, you don't know Americans just like you don't know Canadians outside of the social bubbles in big cities.
No. It only counts in terms of amount of content on broadcast TV/Radio/etc. Some of the rules are downright bad, some of the required content requires stations to have 50% of the content they have on the air to be "canadian made" or they lose their broadcasters license. For anyone that wants to read up on it, the legislation is called "CanCon" and many people have been pissed off at it for years. Since it also allows broadcasters to highjack out-of-country stations and replace them with Canadian stations.
An example: Say a show is on ABC and on CTV, the cancon rules allow the cable company to take CTV's channel and paste it overtop of ABC's channel and fully block everything on ABC from US commercials to the stations broadcast events. Anyone who says "it's a great idea" has never lived in a country where media isn't free. It's not great, it's not good. Eventually you start going with a, "If they're already highjacking for TV shows, what else are they changing/blocking/etc."
You can't forget other cases that allow this too, for example court imposed broadcast bans. In the US, you're allowed to know whatever you want about a court case. In Canada, the media is blocked from publishing anything, in extreme cases the media from other countries is blocked. A good example would be the Paul Bernardo/Karla Homolka trial, where the US media was blacked(the entire newscasts were blocked) out here in Canada unless you were lucky enough to pull TV channels OTA.
Yep. Then again if people had real problems with ships burning oil(aka diesel), then they'd be yelling about the 3rd world ships that use PCB laden fuel for their ships engines. People like to think that they simply shipped the stuff off to get disposed of...well it's getting disposed of...by burning it.
There are a lot of criminals out there with a conscience, many also have moral boundaries they won't cross. A murder might be a murderer and enjoy it, but they won't target people under a certain age for example. It's also one of the reasons why in most countries that child molesters and rapists are put into segregation wings. The other criminals in there are more likely to kill them for what they've done. Not only for the prestige of doing it, but because even the other criminals find their actions repugnant that they believe that there are lines you shouldn't cross.
An example of a grandfather here in Canada who was convicted of 1st degree(premeditation). He killed his son in law. Said son in law raped and molested his own daughter, the grandfather plead guilty. When he got to prison, the other prisoners found out what he did and treated him with respect beyond approach for it.
Oh you mean the "we gonna force you to loan anyone who shows up to get a mortgage or we'll remove your FDIC backing" that the democrats rammed through during the previous presidents time in office?
That was was winnable. The problem was that people didn't have the stomach to actually do what had to be done, and micromanaging from Washington does not help those in the field do their job. See Vietnam war, same BS. Learning a bit of history helps.
I just want the madness to end, from both sides. Thank god people at least laugh at MRAs, even if they tolerate feminists.

Ontario, Quebec, and the maritimes. Expect the NDP to try pushing something similar through in Alberta in the next year.

Wikipedia? The place where facts go to die is an educational place? If you say so.
Reminder: Wikipedia's motto is, "verifiability not facts."

Don't worry, they're okay with conflict minerals being used for "renewable energy" sources.
Which one would you like? There are more of them out there. But don't worry if your propaganda makes you feel good.
How about the criminality of the solar or wind industry in supporting conflict minerals.
You're that ignorant of how things went down, and believe it's crap? Well sure explains the state of American politics.
Wait, what? Criminals with a conscience?
There are a lot of criminals out there with a conscience, many also have moral boundaries they won't cross.
