There's very few VPN's that get around netflix's 'region blocking' these days, and unless you're willing to drop the money. Some only work in specific countries, some are limited to unregion blocking only western countries.

A refUrb is likely to be cheaper than new, but LESS efficient for a given output of NOx and PM5. If you think early death due to respiratory illness is a blessing, then fair enough.

Referbs include new emission controls, this isn't rocket surgery. Between cans and blue, a referb can be a head of the curve on emissions then even the current year model. You're not doing anything but showing your ignorance on this.

You mean the part where they banned the refurbishment of older engines in 2009, then further restricted them in 2011? Gee, you'd think that someone who claims to be a diesel engine engineer would know this, instead of us lowly grease monkeys who do the hard work.

    1) Multiple trucks exist. You're confusing "existing" with "being in mass production"

If a truck isn't rolling it's costing you money. Trucking is the replacement of hundreds of giant warehouses full of people. It takes around 11 minutes to fill both tanks of a truck. Around 4 minutes at a self-serve depot that's card-locked, a shunt/local haul truck might need to be filled once per-day.

    2) There is no nationwide network of either. The difference is that fuel for the electric truck costs an order of magnitude less than for the hydrogen truck, which is the most important factor for fleet operators.

Quite true. There's also not a network for trucks either, it's all for cars pretty much. And trucks have a very hard time fitting into tiny areas for cars. Trucks stops aren't adverse to charging stations, problem is expense. Fleets will absolutely not switch to electric or hydrogen unless it becomes cheaper then diesel, or diesel becomes more expensive then either. If it becomes more expensive, well the world is collapsing anyway.

    3) As a general rule, EV batteries are cheaper and longer lifespan than fuel cells, too. FCVs having to also have a battery pack, just a smaller one.

Well yes and no. Nearly all trucks on the road have their own FC-APU's because of anti-idling laws, it generally takes 1gal of diesel to run one for 10 hours. Depending on where you are, that's either a waste or very efficient, since some trucks will 'light idle' in a single cylinder to provide the cab with heat/electricity and it works out to being around 0.78gal/10hrs. Their lifetime is around 15 years, 9 years under warranty.

Pretty much. Which means the only places these things really exist is at depots where trucks sit, or in locations where the trucks are used to shunt from a depot to another, or a short distance to a factory/dock of some kind.

Welcome to regulations of Obama. That was the shit that gutted the piss out of the referb industry for truck engines. Which mean O/O's held on for dear life to the engines that they had, even if they were pushing 800k mi or more. Meaning they forced trucks to buy 'new' engines that were less efficient(at 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of a new truck), instead of a rebuild with modern tech, giving them the same efficiency but burning cleaner.

FYI It was Trump's EPA that revoked those regulations, and now referbs are starting to roll out. One company I know of already has a 2.5yr wait time if you want a rebuilt engine.

  7. The problem is solved by figuring out why college costs are escalating so quickly and clamping down on it. I have not heard much talk about that from either the right or the left.

Cheap loans with 100% repayment requirement. This allows universities to charge more knowing they'll get the money regardless from lenders. More classes unrelated to major. Classes unrelated to minor. Mandatory humanities courses. Mandatory requirement to buy education material directly through school bookstore. University bloat. Too many useless courses, the humanities are full of crap. Literal crap. Universities spending obscene amounts of money on "diversity" handlers(University of Michigan is a great example). Blowing money on projects not related to the university.

Japan just gut the hell out of all their humanities and social science courses, guess what happened? Course costs dropped, people living "in" the university system but producing nothing of value fell through the floor. That means no more comparative feminist dance theory and it's impact on Harry Potter for example.

The flipside of course, is where universities have gone so far down the leftwing rabbit hole there's no way out and students refuse to go there. Then this happens all on it's own. University of Missouri for example, or Evergreen college.

  8. The $200K/year welding jobs require special tickets that are very hard to get.

"Hard to get" gee would you look at that? Huh one of the trade magazines is listing most of those tickets and courses starting at around $4k for a 200hr course, optional weekends as well. Very difficult.

  9. What are you even talking about? The average welder in the patch for example is 47hrs. That's 7hrs of OT at 1.5x/week. I'm having problems finding this drug habit problem you're talking about something else?

Have you worked a trade or two before? I'm just curious.

  10. Bringing back factories =/= bringing back jobs.

That of course doesn't make sense, if it did the unemployment rate would be going up by leaps and bounds. But the opposite is happening in the US.

If you've been paying attention or worked in a factory the last 20 years, while it's possible to automate many parts of it, people seem to want to buy things that don't break after the first 4 uses too. I'm not talking about electronics here.

  11. Where are they going to learn those skills?

Apprenticeships and having a good work ethic. You understand that these jobs(trades) while dirty, require you to actually do more then stare blankly at a person while fucking up their order at the local fast food place right? A good work ethic will get you an apprenticeship almost anywhere. A very good work ethic will get you a head of the curve, and selling your services as a independent contractor.

  12. Perhaps you missed the memo on robotics. Low wage jobs are here to stay, unless you do something yourself, or allow yourself to become a wage slave.

Strange, why are all those companies suddenly repatriating and re-opening factories in the US then?

  13. When I was in school. The right wing in America said it would be fine and the kids would just take responsibility and work their way through college like they did (ignoring that they all had higher wages adjusted for inflation and 1/5th the tuition). What drives me nuts is we all knew this was coming and just said fuck it. And all we got for it was some paltry tax cuts that expire.

Well guess what? They were right. What was the problem though? Oh, right. It had nothing to do with lowering the standards so far that even idiots gain entrance, or pushing that everyone can succeed because the system will do it for you. Or that the only thing you need to do to get through university is to engage in rote memorization(gee where'd that idea come from - musta been all those right-wingers in academia). It wasn't all those kids deciding to pick up useless degrees and suddenly being soaked in tens-of-thousands of debt. No no, it was the "right wing" that told the kids not to go into trades, or dirty jobs to make a living. Not the educators(left wing), or in school guidance offices(still left wing) or people in government job centers(again mainly holding left wing), and telling them all that those jobs will all be done by machines in the future and you could simply get a degree and coast your way through life in a cushy office job.

Gee it's almost like we can plot it out on a graph through the 1980's, 90's and 00's as that line of reasoning(any degree will do), will get you through life so just blow $70k on feminist dance theory and you'll be set, companies will fall all over to hire you!

  14. What the hell are you even talking about? Plumbers these days in most of the US are clearing $70k, lower in poorer areas of course. Mechanics - general mechanics only auto are clearing $65k in non-union shops. Hell 20 years ago when I was finishing out my apprenticeship the hourly rate of pay was around $17/hr(min wage $6.85ish) at a non-union shop. Wages have only gone up. If you want to live in a big city which will suck all your money away and leave you with nothing? Go ahead. Anyone who's smart will commute in, and make a killing.

Hell welders can clear up to $200k/year right now in the oil patch, pulling $300k+ if you have various certs like boiler. Average wage $110k. What's the median wage in the US these days? 40k? 45k? You know what? Go look at the nearest town with industry, and I'll bet you'll see "apprentices needed - no experience required." Two years ago, nobody was taking apprentices. It wasn't because the jobs weren't there, they were. Companies wanted people to directly fill in the void, no training required. The last time I saw this in the US it was 1999. Canada however? It's absolfuckinglutly dismal for work right now, it's like 2010/11 all over again.

Seriously, Twitter is the equivalent of pig sty loaded with ebola and leprosy. If someone is so determined to ruin your life, the little self-offend-o-trons will go out of their way to try and ruin it. It's simply easier on twitter because companies are still stuck in the "it's great for marketing, look at all these people!" mindset, making small mobs of assholes seem large. Harder to do in meatspace, but it still happens see Matt Taylor for example.

  20. You know, the parts where you're wrong are the parts where you disagreed with me. I mean, in what world is Milton west and north of Toronto? When it's SOUTH and before Mississauga. I could round out the other parts where you said I was wrong, but there's no point.

Bullshit to the above, if you live in Toronto you don't need to own a car unless you have children

Really? Which is why everyone owns a car unless you're a block from the subway system.

The above is capital C conservative propaganda. Sometimes we do have bad wait times but not really. My father's cancer treatment was much faster (Barrie) and even dislocating a shoulder on hallowe'en I was in/out of St. Joseph's (Toronto) in less than four hours.

Kinda like this, did you even look at the wait times? No you didn't. If you did, then you'd know it was reality. Do you really not understand why doctors started revolting in the last 3 years over the Ontario(Liberal) policies? Talk about being fundamentally ignorant of what's going on in your own backyard.

  21. Wow... Such a misleading post.

Except it's not, see why don't you check ontariogasprices.com for instance. See that greenshield link? Yep, click on it. The average wait time for a bypass is 84-196 days. Did you even click on your own link? You should probably check and validate your own post, it explains why you posted as a AC though.

  22. Private for-pay practices are generally not allowed in Canada. Just another benefit of universal healthcare.

  23. Why don't you leave. So negative. My son lives at John and Front in a superb condo. He walks to work, has all amenities, and his rent is around 1600/mo for 1 bedroom apt. If he commutes by moving away, he gets a 3 bedroom for a little more than that amount.

I work here, right now. That's why. And I'd rather fix the province, then let the left and progressives continue to destroy it. I'll also bet that your son's superb condo is around 350sqft. Which is roughly the norm in John and Front St.

And you forgot to mention --- NO GUNS -- and Low crime rate. Look at gun killings for all of Toronto and all of Canada.

LOL guns are all over the place in Toronto. Go look at the TPS crime map, the number of "shots fired" cases recorded are unbelievable. The number of shootings in the GTA is up 55% from last year making it more dangerous then Thunder Bay, and gang activity from last year is up a whopping 240% from 2017. And we're not even finished the year of 2018 yet.

And many workers work from home and use skype or other and attend meetings in person once every 10 days.

Really? Cause going by the demands of companies in the area they want you to be on-site all the time. Likely because the whole telecommuting thing has been on massive decline over the last year.
