When rednecks talk about overthrowing the U.S. they're just talking shit about U.S. Grant. They've been doing that for 150 years. They're all insane from the moonshine and the inbreeding.
I used to walk around with my pants down and nobody said a thing. I still walk around with my pants down but now they're lady's pants. You should see how the people laugh and stare.
That's a great reason to support all local business as much as possible. The more local it is, the better.
Just look at all the middlemen involved when you buy from national and international sources. Most of those middlemen are people working far from their homes in order to take jobs from people who are trying to work close to home.
I'm not whining at China. I'm saying that America should protect herself by greatly reducing the amount we buy from them and putting more tariffs on what we do buy.
Won't sell us raw materials? Don't plan on selling us finished ones either. Why the hell are we dealing with commies in the first place?
In a free trade system U.S. buyers could negotiate with various Chinese suppliers. It sounds to me like the Chinese government is creating a defacto monopoly where there shouldn't be one.
We buy far too much chinese stuff as it is and it's largely due to the false economy of the chinese currency. Another factor in the trade deficit is their willingness to simply rip off Western IP. Most of their products are very low quality anyway and end up costing more in the long run.
"So let me ask you this then: what makes you think that race is the same as genetics,..."
I don't think they are the same, but there is correlation between certain genes and certain groups of people. Whether to classify those groups as races or as extended families is more of a political question than a scientific one.
Just to clarify where I'm coming from, I don't believe that all people of a given skin color should be grouped together as a single race.
Really? Or is it that you are SO politically correct that you cannot see truth.
I happen to have mod points and my on-the-fly ranking went from insightful to interesting to troll and back to interesting.
I've lived long enough to understand that each of the 6 billion people on this earth is different than every other. Some are remarkably good and some are remarkably bad. Most of us are just average in our own interesting ways.
But still, I do believe that genetic differences affect what we are and that genetic differences can be attributed to where our genes came from.
Those who choose to never risk offending anyone are perhaps the most intellectually dishonest among us.
What this means is that Comcast has bought the FCC along with NBC/Universal and, in Hollywood style, they're going to put on a show for us while they steal our money.
It was that case that made it illegal to load copyrighted software into RAM without a license.
Before that, the legality was unclear and there were many heavy-handed lawsuits brought by manufacturers (including MAI) against 3rd party service companies.
Long after it mattered to either of them the court decided that it was ok to boot the system in order to repair it. Peak was never depriving MAI of any software sales, they were preventing MAI from using their software licenses to lock customers into their service contracts.
Similarly, Psystar isn't depriving Apple of any software sales but the are preventing Apple from using their software licenses to lock customers into their own brand of hardware.
The fact is that many of them go beyond their constitutional rights and simply bribe congress. In other words they are crooks, thieves, goniffs. They must be stupid and brazen to get caught, yet they do.
Government, by definition, possesses power to attract those groups. The solution is to clean up congress and the only way to do that is to lay waste to the duopoly. Republican == Democrat == sellout.
Another reason patents suck is that, like locks, they only keep out honest people.
Certain powerful countries will use foreign technology without paying the fees the rest of the world has to. America and the rest of the free world needs to get real. The P in GNP is product, not paper.
I'm sick and tired of watching my country burden itself with regulations while allowing its "free trade partners" to play by their own rules. We can't tell them what to do but we can choose not to deal with them.
Smokey Yunick had a regular column, "Say, Smokey", in Popular Science. I remember it very well from the 1970s.
He might be able to find a PCIISA bridge.
Communism == evil godlessness ergo capitalism == sainthood. Fuck the people who made my idea worth something. Now they are my slaves.
Right..
Nuke DC, LA and NYC.

Low bandwidth isn't what makes a client "thin". "Thin" refers to the amount of state and logic on the client.
X is fatter than VNC because it stores fonts, bitmaps and other data and it is responsible for rendering the output.
VNC, OTOH, doesn't even know what a font is, much less how to render it.
VNC usually requires more bandwidth, but X makes more network requests and its performance suffers considerably more than VNC over high-latency links.

Those films can't be in the public domain. They're only 39 years old.
Exactly.

sector 7g?
How can any of this be considered a major announcement about a car?
When a car maker tells me they have removed some electronic assholes from their vehicles, then I'll be interested.
If only they would stay dead.

Well of course it's a statement made from my world view. It happens to be the same world view as millions of other people.
Let China push us just a little too far and then see what kind of influence we have.

Should I post this or should I mod YOU the troll?

Screw Comcast and screw the US gov.
Suits like this are evidence that Apple is engaging in very questionable trade practices. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Product_bundling
Apple will probably win this battle but they deserve to lose their war.
Peak Computer, Inc. had a business repairing MAI's Basic/4 computers and MAI got pissy about the "lost" service revenue.

Fuck Apple.
Eventually IPv4 will go away just as but I won't consider that the death of the Internet. Plus, the IMPs were the implementation of RFC 1.
September 12 was the day the Internet was hatched. October 29 was the day it took flight.

The irony is that they won't listen to you unless you send corporate lobbyists with bags of money.
